The One and Only WWE Firing Thread.

Recommended Posts

He was ANOTHER guy that people within the company like and consider have good work ethic. What is their logic in firing these guys?

6'6" and taller = Great

275-375 pounds = Great

Anything less is most definitely UNACCEPTABLE!

Seriously, I have no clue.

Mark Henry gears up for a monstrous return

November 9, 2004

By Anthony Cali

AUSTIN, TX – As arena workers hustled to set up the Frank Irwin Center for Monday Night’s Raw broadcast, a hulking figure appeared at the top of the loading dock – a man so enormous and wide, that he actually blocked the sun temporarily, causing several stage hands to pause, and turn their heads, curious as to why their light source has been so greatly diminished.

This gargantuan is none other than Silsby, Texas’, own Mark Henry, who dropped by the show to say hello to old friends, and update officials on how his rapidly recovering injury is coming along. It’s been nine long months since Henry last competed in a WWE ring, and the mammoth World’s Strongest Man is anxiously awaiting his return.

“I got injured in February, in a match against Chris Benoit at State College, Pennsylvania,” recalled the former Olympic power-lifter. “It was snowing real hard, and I had to go to the hospital, with my arm hanging, and a foot of snow on the ground – it wasn’t pretty. Basically, I tore my labrum, as well as my rotator cuff, and I had a frayed biceps tendon. It required a full reconstruction.”

The surgery was performed by Dr. James Andrews – one of the world’s finest sports-related injury surgeons – in Birmingham, Alabama. Initially, Mark was told he wouldn’t be back until January, but the big man is coming along well and hopes to return next months.

"I got in the ring recently, but only for training purposes,” Henry said. “Nothing, where I’ve been having contact with anyone else – I’ve just been in there by myself, running the ropes and that sort of thing. I’ve still been doing my cardio, and now I’m at the point where I’m lifting heavy weights again, just not too heavy, because I want to let it heal up right.”

Henry has alternated his rehab between the University of Texas in Austin, and Harlem, where the strongman owns a second home. While out of action, Mark has also been touring (until recently) with WWE’s SmackDown! Your Vote campaign, attending rallies and conventions, in hopes of getting young voters to the polls. A longtime political enthusiast, Henry is actually on a first name basis with fellow Texan, and recently re-elected President George W. Bush.

Still, as fun as being a WWE goodwill ambassador may be, nothing compares to the thrill the World’s Strongest Man feels when he climbs between the ropes, and uses his 400-pound frame to crush opponents.

"It’s been a long time since I’ve been in there,” exclaims Henry, “and I’m kind of itching now to get back in there. Without the sake of being kind of mushy or anything, it’s hard to watch, because I always feel like I could do better, or I just miss the fact that I’m not in there, and that somebody else is getting that time. It’s really hard to watch.”

Well, Mark Henry hasn't been cut...

Mark Henry will never be fired. Hell, I wouldn't even be shocked if WWE rehired him once his contract ends, just because he does whatever the hell they want him to do.

Well, Henry's contract is up in 2006 sometime, I think he's only got about another 15 months with the company.

After the devastating week for the WWE roster that saw ten on-air superstars released, the SmackDown! lockerroom was able to breathe a sigh of relief upon learning that the roster cuts have been put on hold for at least a few months. WWE originally planned to cut up to five more names.

Unless the claim that the cuts have been postponed was a lie, the alleged reason for such a move was that wrestlers have been talking about personally asking management for a release. With TNA having its biggest week ever, the fear inside the offices of top WWE officials was that TNA could turn into an actual competitor and draw some talent away, so it's not wise to voluntarily feed them talent.

Generally, TNA is becoming a more attractive option and many wonder if anyone in WWE will indeed ask to be released.

Lords of Pain (who probably stole it from PWInsider)

from Meltzer:

--Just three days after assuring wrestlers at Smackdown that nobody else would be cut for a long time, Linda Miles was cut by WWE today. I guess they can say they meant nobody from the main roster.

Of all the cuts they made this one made the most sense. She couldn't wrestle, she couldn't provide any decient t&a, she couldn't talk, and she's been acting like an ass in OVW.

Long overdue

Too bad they fired Rodney, I kinda liked Rodney & Henry as a team, but without Theodore to be with them on RAW it wouldn't be the same.

Yes it would. It would still suck. :P

Seriously, though, Teddy was wasted in that role. He wasn't making *any* progress with those guys, although at least Henry was used well as a midcard heel. Mack seemed completely worthless.

Add Linda Miles to the list

So the Tough Enough grads...

Maven: wrestling

Nidia: fired

Josh: talking

Chris N: retired

Jackie: valeting

Linda: fired

John: demoted

Matt: yet to be seen

DEVELOPING TALENT!

Neither Nowinski nor Matthews won Tough Enough...

But going by your standards, you'd have to add Matt Morgan to the list.

Linda didn't grow up as a fan like the rest of us so its no shock her and the business didn't mix well.
