WWE Notes On Cena, Edge, Guerrero, Benjamin,

Recommended Posts

Guest wrestling365

Various news and notes from my daily column to share. . .

Raw and Smackdown talent were told at TV this week that there are no more roster cuts planned at this time. Many were second guessing whether or not there would be more cuts after 10 wrestlers were pink-slipped last week. One wrestler told me that a WWE official personally gave them their word that nobody else would be cut.

"I'm taking that with a grain of salt," my source said. Released Diva Gail Kim also said during a radio interview this past weekend that she was under the impression more cuts would be made. Let's hope for the sake of morale the company stays true to it's word.

Wrestling365 reader Ryan Jones sent along the following note... Shelton Benjamin appeared on the Sky Sports News channel yesterday afternoon here in the UK to promote Survivor Series. He came across well but appeared to be nervous and stuttered quite a lot during the interview. He noted that morale was down in the locker room due to the roster cuts and was upset that Nidia was cut because she was one of his friends. He plugged SS then put his finishing move on the presenter. All in all some nice publicity for the WWE.

John Cena is taking a break from pre-production work on "The Marine" this weekend and will be flying home from Australia to take part in the Survivor Series. I'm pretty sure this appearance will be a one-shot deal until he completes his filming obligations. I also heard yesterday that in addition to Nip/Tuck actress Kelly Carlson starring in the movie, Robert Patrick is now attached.

Now that Smackdown writer Dan Madigan is gone there are many inside the WWE who think Booker T won't win that elusive WWE Championship at Survivor Series. Madigan was one of T's biggest supporters on the creative team and was pushing for him to beat JBL for the belt. That was the original plan but it might not happen now, especially if Bradshaw gets his way.

Several WWE wrestlers were at Universal Studios in Orlando on Wednesday to film a Royal Rumble TV commercial. Triple H, Randy Orton, Ric Flair and Chris Benoit were among those who took part. The commercial features the WWE stars dressing in 1950s-era outfits. The tentative plan at this point is for Orton to win the rumble match and face Triple H for the World Title next year at WrestleMania 21.

Bubba and D-Von Dudley weren't written into Smackdown this week. Instead they drove to Orlando following the Ft. Myers house show on Sunday to take part in the rumble commercial.

The WWE creative team are very happy with the way Gene Snitsky is getting over with fans since his debut. The feeling is that creative has hit a home run with the Snitsky character although many in the locker room didn't expect it at first. Snitsky is said to be fitting in well and is well-liked amongst his peers.

Because this became an internet headline on Tuesday after PWInsider.com reported that Desmond 'Lamont' Thompson was released from his developmental contract, here is the real story. Thompson was sent back to Ohio Valley Wrestling after Ernest 'The Cat' Miller was let go by the WWE in February. He was released a short time later, I believe sometime around June, although he has done some spots for OVW since then. So in fact he hasn't been under any kind of contract for many months even though it wasn't widely reported at the time.

There is once again talk of Linda 'Shaniqua' Miles being brought back to television. She has spent most of the year in OVW where it was hoped her alleged attitude problem would be squashed. From what I hear nothing much has changed on that front. The heat on her came to boiling point over the summer at a OVW TV taping which resulted in Jim Cornette cutting one of his infamous promos. Cornette basically said that he didn't think she ought to be in the business and would be better off burning her wrestling boots. One source told me: "Wrestling doesn't come naturally to Linda, so it’s a struggle."

Eddie Guerrero has been working on an autobiography. The book will take its title off his documentary "Cheating Death, Stealing Life" and is due for release next year.

I read on the WrestlingClassics message board last night that the famed wrestling autobiography "Hooker" by Lou Thez may soon be released on hardback cover. The book would feature never seen before photos and extra material that never made original rewrites.

The Miami Herald has an article up with Edge talking about his autobiography and future plans. Edge says: "... At 35 if I'm still feeling good, I'll still be trucking along. When it comes to a non-wrestling role, I think the option will be there for me. I don't know it would be tough to be that close to it, but not in there. I don't know. I always thought writing children's books when I'm done ala Mick Foley once again would be kind of fun.'' Click here for more: http://tinyurl.com/4eyof

WWE announcer Howard Finkel is scheduled to be part of the Advocate Parade Spectacular in Stamford, CT on November 21.

From the where are they now files... former WWE wrestler Sean O’Haire is booked to fight on the upcoming K-1 card in Hawaii.

At least with Cena in the SSeries Match it means Hardcore Holly wn't be, although I am upset because I would've like an actual (good) surprise, instead of the person 99.99999% of the people thought it would be.

This year it will be bigger and better than ever. Also with his No. 1 spot, which could've been the ultimate compliment (it was) or another instance of him being held-down.

But still, there was the possibility of Goldberg. I love Kurt Angle.

what do I know, I stopped watching wrestling after the brand split...hearing about Benoit winning the Rumble and then hopping over to Raw got me back into it, hence it came outta left field...

You know what would be a real Royal Rumble shocker? If the #30 participant, the one most likly to win the Rumble, actually won a Royal Rumble match for once.

That's what I was thinking, actually. It's been 16 years --- the "most likely guy to win" should EVENTUALLY win. Hell, #1 has won repeatedly --- #30 never has.

I guess we'll have to wait at least another year for this to happen. No way they will have Orton come in at #30 and win. That will make him even less respected as a real main eventer. I think #30 can only work with a heel or a face that was either a surprise or injured.(watch Orton win from 30 with this creative team)

Well, I've been a Snitsky fan since day one, I just never expected him to make such an impact so soon.

Yeah, some "homerun". They got the gift of gifts by the crowd chanting "baby killer" at him, then just booked him strong. Creative really busted their asses on that one.

Mathmatically the best number is

17. (despite no one actually winning from that number).

Reality shows 27(4 winners) is the best #.

Yeah but they CAN'T ever have #30 actually win the Rumble. It renders the entire hour preceding it pointless to just have the last guy win as he should. There might be riots over it, heh.

What's up with this Booker/Bradshaw thing? I mean they can't seriously think Bradshaw can hold the title too awful much longer. I thought that the main idea was to job him out to Booker and use Book as a transition guy to Angle or whoever. And incidentally, how does Bradshaw have this kind of backstage power to the point where he can refuse to job? I mean he's FUCKING BRADSHAW.
