RVD DVD??

Recommended Posts

I got this e-mail today from Silver vision (which is in the UK) and they mentioned this which I found interesting:

Get The Best of Confidential DVD free when you preorder Survivor Series 2004 DVD for the new low price of GBP 13.99 (€21.00). Starting with Survivor Series 2004, single disc PPVs are reduced by GBP 1.00. Personality titles such as the upcoming Rob Van Dam DVD will also be available to preorder at GBP 12.99 (€20.00).

Anyone know more specifics about this?

If Silvervision is devoid of any details (which they are), there's a 99.9% chance that no one else on the web has anything on the release either.

Details should come up in the next few weeks (later than sooner) on Silvervision or through 1Wrestling, which are the two sites that formally announce upcoming DVD releases from the WWE.

If I was in charge of that DVD, I'd have trouble putting an acceptable amount of WWE matches on it that are of the standard expected on a wrestler's DVD.

Bout damn time.If your not gonna push one of the most cheered and talented guys on the roster you might as well give him a nice dvd release.

He was hilarious on commentary with Eddy on his dvd so hopefully we get plenty more on this one.

20 RVD matches! Each exactly like the other!

Pass.

Here, Here! If I wanted a DVD of someone completely unmotivated and seriously over-rated, I'd make myself a copy of a "Best" of Lex Luger in WCW DVD.

I'd like to see some ECW stuff that you don't see every day on this DVD. I remember a crazy show where RVD defended the TV title against Jerry Lynn and got table fragments in his eye...then came back later in the show and defended the tag titles single handed against the Dudleys.

How about some stuff with him and Sabu vs. Candido and Storm. I used to like those matches a lot.

It's not surprising to me that RVD was hilarious on the Eddie DVD. I remember some of the net chats that he used to post on his website and those had me laughing my ass off. Why is it that WWE doesn't let him do this stuff?

RVD is very funny on the mic but WWE would rather have him say "COOL, DUDE" everytime he cuts a promo.

same email also talked about a 2 disc Divas DVD (God no - who's gonna buy that? who the hell even buys the one disc stuf) and WM21 being a 2-disc set - so the RVD DVD could be months away yet.

The RVD sounds like a fluff DVD (Cena, Lesnar, etc.)...with a 55 minute recap of RVD's life and then 5 bonus matches.

Matches:

RVD & Rey Vs. Kenzo & Dupree (No Mercy 04)

RVD Vs. HHH (Unforgiven 02)

RVD Vs. Jericho (Raw, 2 title changes in one night)

RVD & Booker T Vs. Flair & Batista (Tag Title Change)

RVD Vs. Kane (SummerSlam)

"Hand-picked by RVD himself!"

I'd personally kill for the match where he tries to sell, but does it really badly before forgetting all about it.

Oh, and the match where he had a whole bunch of badly scripted spots that looked terrible.

And the one where he threw some lame punches.

THAT's the Best of RVD for matches?

Oh my good god.

Damn thats bad...even I know he had SOME good WWE matches in 2001 (but all the blurring is probably a pain the ass). I have no idea how their ECW stuff goes (I thought they had a problem using Joey Styles' commentaries).

They were also markedly worse. WWE cleaned up RVD's work a ton. He's significantly better in the WWE than he EVER was in ECW.

As bad as RVD's WWE work is, his ECW work is identical with a lot more stalling and dead time.

Thank heaven that wasn't a serious list...because all of those matches sucked. The only way RVD would pick those if he was high.

If there is an RVD DVD, the Ladder Match with Eddie had better fucking be included.

The match is already on Eddy's DVD.

Well, I'd like to see a lot of his matches on one DVD personally.

His TV title win over Bam Bam Bigelow

w/ Sabu against Hayabusa & Jinsei Shinsaki

Living Dangerously '99 & Hardcore Heaven '99 both against Jerry Lynn

His match with Scotty Anton where he debuted the Van Terminator

His Invasion match with Jeff Hardy

Just to name a few....

WWE cleaned up RVD's work?

Cite your source.

Because the only difference between ECW RVD and WWE RVD is a whole lot less flippin and flyin'.

That's "cleaning up his work," as it was more than just flashiness and stalling.

And RVD's ECW work before the leg injury was actually pretty solid. Stalling? Yes, but it was all done in character. Spotty? Hell yes, but he hit them all with finesse. Redundant? Only a little bit, as odd as it may seem, as Van Dam didn't yet rely on Rolling Thunder and the Five Star all the time. The match with Lance Storm from Guilty As Charged '99 was a pretty decent **3/4-*** bout, and didn't even feature a win from any of RVD's trademark moves (in fact, he used a bridged German Suplex to end the match).

As for the RVD/Lynn series...I've grown to hate them over the years. Lynn's done much better work with Justin Credible, AJ Styles, and Steve Corino, and RVD's done better work with Lance Storm, Sabu, and Jeff Hardy. The only matches really of note are from Living Dangerously '99 and Hardcore Heaven '00, as those are the only two RVD/Lynn matches that don't repeat every single spot from the prior match in a different order (Living Dangerously because it was their first PPV encounter, and Hardcore Heaven '00 because it was during Lynn's big push and the segue into the RVD/Anton feud).

Personally, I think these should be the matches:

RVD vs. Sabu - Stretcher Match (yes, it's on ECW Hardcore History, but how many people own that?)

RVD/Sabu vs. Hayabusa/Jinsei Shinazki - Heat Wave '98 (THE tag spotfest archetype in the States)

RVD vs. Lance Storm - Guilty As Charged '99 (**3/4-*** match, as stated before, and was a nice change after RVD had been primarily in tag bouts on TV)

RVD vs. Jerry Lynn - Living Dangerously '99 (simply for ECW historical significance)

RVD vs. Scotty Anton - Heat Wave '00 (for the debut of the Van Terminator alone)

RVD vs. Rhino - Anarchy Rulz '00 (one of RVD's only singles losses in ECW after April '98, and also a pretty damn decent match)

RVD vs. Jeff Hardy - InVasion (as said before, the match that MADE Van Dam in the WWF/WWE)

RVD vs. Chris Benoit - SummerSlam '02 (for the mandatory addition of Benoit to any WWE DVD)

Can't think of any other WWF/WWE matches of note that haven't already been released...

That never stopped them before.
