Was Lenny Lane supposed to join MIA? I seem to remember in 2000 he was carrying around a "USE ME" sign. I figured it was a natural fit that he would join the MIA but he disppeared again. Any explanation on what went on? Thanks.

It was a really awkward and quick angle that went absolutely nowhere.

 

For a week or two, Lenny was in the crowd with the USE ME sign.

 

Ernest Miller, angry at Lenny for disturbing his shows, decided to give him one shot to get back into WCW. The only way to get his spot back, though, was to defeat The Wall in a Tables Match. If I remember correctly, this was also the backstage promo where Miller did the quite funny "snatch the pebble out of my hand" speech.

 

That Thunder, Lenny went over The Wall in a Tables Match in less than three minutes when The Wall "accidentally" fell backwards off the apron, putting himself through a table and giving Lenny his job back.

 

Later in the night they cut to what was either Lenny and Rection, or Lenny and The Wall. They shook hands, and the MIA member said, "Buddy system."

 

If I remember correctly, Lane was never seen again after that.

During the match with Benoit and Sid for the WCW title (Benoit's last match in WCW), a whole bunch of the guys from the back came out and watched the match happen. Was there some sort of plan or reason for them to be out there or was it just unexplainable WCW booking?

 

I should probably remember that PPV since I was there live, but outside of remembering that Benoit won, Booker T being there and the Mamalukes having a match, I can't really remember the event. Hell, I only remember the Mamalukes because I really liked their entrance music.

The trio must have been Wrath, Mortis and Glacier. Clarke was a kind of ninja character when he first came in as Wrath. He used to wear the huge helmet and carry the massive staff. He used a few martial arts moves as well.

 

Interesting fact: Wrath and Mortis hold a pinfall win over the Faces Of Fear at Fall Brawl 97. Not many teams would go over Meng and Barbarian at the time.

Mike Tenay sits down with Scott Steiner (with Midajah). Steiner likes not having friends, hates Hall & Nash, and yells at Tenay for calling the "Frankensteiner" a hurancanrana. Tenay says he uses that term to get the Mexican stars over. Steiner threatens Tenay. Tenay asks Steiner about his childhood leading to his recent "angry" streak. Steiner snaps and starts choking Tenay. Steiner gets up and commands Midajah to stop tending to Tenay and the segment is over.

Bobby Heenan makes fun of Tenay, as Tenay says he "saw his life flash before him" last week.

 

Tenay acts like a HEEL in a promo with Midajah on...

Midajah lays in bed with a neckbrace on. She wants to wrestle, not take her clothes off for Playboy. Tenay says "C'mon! I've heard this all before. Right...I am woman. Hear me roar." Midajah mentions how when Steiner attacked Tenay, it was SHE that came to help him. Tenay says she probably only did it to stop him from getting fined more. She says the interview is over...Tenay says "Good luck...you'll need it." She calls Tenay a jerk.

Tenay interviews David Flair & Miss Hancock about their upcoming wedding. Both of their families will be on Nitro for the wedding on Monday. Tenay yells at Hancock and calls her a golddigger because she went through David's pant pockets to find her engagement ring. tenay takes a snotty attitude with Hancock's defensive statements. Tenay finishes the segment by "giving you six months...if you're lucky".

 

And then...Tenay goes heel on RIC FLAIR of all people...

 

***September 13, 2000 edition of Thunder***

Tenay interviews Ric Flair, who Russo had removed from his son's wedding on Nitro (the wedding ended when Stacy left the arena after revealing her baby wasn't David's.) Tenay was curious why Flair was even being interviewed for TV when he was retired. Tenay says he respects Flair then instantly asked if Ric is the father of his son's fiance's baby. Flair gets an angry look and says that Tenay is one of Russo's puppets, and asks bullshit questions. Flair leaves.

Tenay interviews Stacy Kiebler. Stacy says she loves David. Tenay laughs and says Stacy had slept around with nearly the entire roster. "Can we count them on one hand...or two?" She says there was only one other. He asks how she could sleep around when she was engaged. Tenay looks into the camera...

 

"BOY, SHE'LL MAKE A GREAT MOTHER." Haha.

Because Time-Warner didn't care enough about WCW to give them wide-release. I think you actually COULD have gotten most --- if not all --- of them through WCW's web site, but T-W did very little to actually make the videos easily accessible.

Rhodes, and Blacktop Bully, were fired right after Uncensored 1995, for blading in their King Of The Road match. The agent in charge of the match, Mike Graham, who had okayed the blading, was fired too.

 

Savage debuted on a live WCWSN doing a promo about Hogan, saying he was either going to shake his hand or punch him out.

 

He left because he got into a fight with Paul Orndorff, and he and Eric Bischoff couldn't agree on a punishment, plus there were other forces who didn't want Vader in.

 

Bret was the first choice for being the "third man", but it never really came close to happening. Then it was going to be Luger, but that was felt to be too obvious, so they went with Hogan.

Both.

 

In the angle, the 'original plan' was for Hogan to destroy Jarrett, but Scott Steiner would interfere for the DQ. Later on, Booker T would face Jarrett and win the World Title. However, Hogan, 'played his creative control card', and demanded he beat Jarrett for the World Title. As part of the original angle, Russo would 'double cross' Hogan and have Jarrett lay down. Hogan would then walk out, and come back a few months down the line to feud with the then World Champion, in a Title v Title program. Russo, though, double crossed Hogan for real, with his speech, and Hogan never came back.

The Booker/Hogan/Jarrett/Russo stuff is covered earlier in the thread. Apparently the original plan was a brand extension type idea with two world titles, one on Nitro, one on Thunder, that sort of thing.

I think it was already discussed, but Hogan laying down for JJ was a work. Russo's speech was supposed to be a work but became a shoot. If memory serves, Bischoff and Hogan were supposed to eventually feud with Booker T in an old guard v new guard program.

He got it because he wanted it. Hogan pretty much did whatever he wanted to. The angle was Beefcake turned out to be the masked man who had attacked Hogan at the Clash in August, and was unmasked at HH in October.

 

HHH was with WCW from early 1994 until January 1995.

 

Mero left WCW because of an argument with Eric Bischoff over an appearance and over his angle with Kimberly Page.

I think that was Harlem Heat 2000, which consisted of Stevie Ray and TAFKA Ahmed Johnson. Johnson, aka Big T, was brought in by the guy who was Clarence Mason in the WWF. They lasted a few months, and did nothing of note, bar taking up air time, and, in Johson's case, a lot of space.
