HOLY FUCKIN SHIT

Recommended Posts

What stands out is the Detroit and Indiana were pretty much done pushing and shuffing each other. If the moron fan wouldn't of started throwing shit at Artest than that would of been the end of the incident.

BTW it may be just me but does it almost look like that the woman wearing the Pistons jersey who Artest pushed aside to get to the nerd further up looked like a possible throwing suspect? From where the geek was, it would've been a helluva throw to hit Artest in the face without spilling everything (the cup was still pretty full when it hit Ron) while she was about 3 or 4 rows up and had one arm raised like a basketball shot follow through? The geek looked like he was just jumping up and down laughing and cheering until he saw Artest coming after him then it quickly went to "Holy shit I just wet myself!"

I just noticed that and found it odd.

Amusing quote I heard on Eurosportnews:

"For the record, the Pacers beat the Pistons 97 - 82, and then beat the fans."

Most entertaining thing ever in crappy Basketball. Artest is a disgrace.

Yeah, how dare that Ron Artest subdue the man who assaulted him. THE ANIMAL!

The players will get 100% blame cause fans are NEVER at fault apparently. And Ron Artest will probably receive a season long suspension with a possible playoff return.

A pure joke.

Artest is staring right into the crowd when he's struck. He knew exactly who hit him.

Pretty good arm for a fucking nerd.

Well the monkey shouldn't be going into the stands, he should point the fan out and let security (If there was security) take care of him.

He was? I thought he was looking up at the ceiling/towards the court until he got hit, then looked into the crowd and took off. Yeah, I guess the nerd does have a good arm.

LOL at Bill Walton right now saying "Ron Artest is a really good guy, you just have to get to know him." on the game replay on ESPN2.

Is that "monkey" comment necessary? I don't know if you intended it to sound that way, but it sounds terribly racist.

That comment wasn't necessary, at all.

However...

It wasn't intended to be racist although I am but he just seemed like an animal as was stated with sarcasm, so it was just an example of an animal.

Hopefully we can keep this discussion civilized rather than have people who don't really care about it or ramifications trying to agitate people.

I loved how Bill Walton say "the refs need to figure out a way to end this game right before Artest got hit with the cup."

Being that i saw this happen on both ESPN and local Detroit coverage and from friends in the stands what I have heard is that the fans threw beer at Artest who went in and threw some punches followed by Steven Jackson. Then players from both teams along with Rick Mahorn tried to break it up. I guess the guy who Artest went after didnt throw the beer but it was his friend the guy in the blue shirt and white hat who was sucker punching Artest who threw the beer. O'neal and Artest were in the right for knocking the piss out of that guy who was on the court and confronting them, and I don't think that Wallace overreacted since this shit happens all the time in the NBA. The situatoin was cooling off until some fucking idiot Detroit fan decided to throw a beer at Artest. I then had to listen to all my homer friends talk about how artest was in the wrong here when I think he should have knocked the piss out of the guy who threw the beer at him. The fans deserved what they get when they start throwing things like chairs at players and throwing punches. Local coverage showed how the fans near the entrance to the locker room area were throwing full beers and whatnot on these players many of whom like David Harrison either had nothing to do with the situation or were trying to break it up. Detroit's fans totally acted without class and escalated a situation that was dying down and they are to blame moreso than the players. Artest had calmed down and was just relaxing not even getting into it with Wallace when some jackass decides to try and be cool.

Oh give me a break. I'm not much of a basketball fan these days, and baseball is my favorite sport, but come on. Are you, a Yankee fan I'm guessing, going to tell me that John Rocker > all other non-baseball atheletes? (Rocker was just the first name that came to mind, I'm not a big Rocker hater.)

Let's not get carried away with complete BS, here...

Anyway, enough of that..

By the way, what was up with Jamaal Tinsley and that dust-pan thing he grabbed?

Is everything taken seriously? Does John Rocker even play anymore? I was joking although I do not like basketball just the fight from tonight.

There are several fans who need to be prosecuted, fined, banned, whatever they need to do: The fan who threw the first drink at Artest, fans who threw another drink and began to punch Artest in the crowd rather than simply restrain him or avoid him and let security do their job, big dude trying to murder Freddie Jones, fan who went on court to sucker punch Artest, dude who threw chair.

The harshest penalty player wise I think has to go to Steven Jackson. He was the most agressive Pacer following the Wallace/Artest incident, and he was also the first player to punch a fan, which crosses a certain line. The punch he threw after Artest got hit with the 2nd drink is going to be pinpointed as the moment where all order was lost and IMO what he did was much worse than Artest entering the crowd in the first place.

The next harshest penalty should go to Ron Artest, and he should be judged from the foul on Wallace to the point where he willingly exited the crowd and returned to the court. Nothing done by him until the drink was worthy of anything more than a technical foul, if that. Running into the crowd gets him 5-8 games, more if his prior record is taken into account (which knowing Stern it will be). The key here is that he didn't attack the fan, the intent was obviously intimidation, and he simply grabbed the fan. If things were handled properly from that point on Artest would have been seperated after proving his point and putting the fear of god into that wimp. This is the point where the fan attacks and Jackson's punch turned it into a free for all and you can see Artest just trying to get everyone off of him and get out of the crowd. He does throw one punch on his way back towards the court, I couldn't tell if it connected or who it was directed towards, but I think the NBA will penalize him for that as well. The punches thrown towards the man on court can't be justified as punishable, the guy was approaching Artest in a threatening manner and Artest was simply quicker on the draw, the lawyers would not allow games tacked on for that.

Jermaine O'Neal will likely get 3-6 games, mainly because of that massive right cross he landed. I don't think the NBA will view that as self-defense as he came from out of the picture and the guy he was after wasn't a threat to anyone at that point. If all things are equal I think that's possibly the worst act from a player in the whole thing and I think him and Artest, if the NBA is fair, should get simmilar penalties.

The lightest penalty will go to Ben Wallace (I say he deserves three games as he lit the match that burned the place down by acting like a damn fool, out of simple frustration that his team was losing, and nothing he did out there was justified. His actions, while not intentional, incited a riot.)

I suppose it's possible that Fred Jones, David Hawkins, Rasheed Wallace, Tinsley and whoever else could get suspensions for going into the crowd, but since they were all playing peacemaker it would be absurd. Of course, the NBA has a precedent for absurd punishments in bench clearers, so I'll take the over with every player involved. Rasheed Wallace should get a merit badge or deputized or some shit though, that dude handled the entire situation as well as he possibly could. If more of the Pistons had gone into the crowd to break up the fight I don't think it would have gotten so out of hand, you could see the respect the fans showed towards Rasheed, nobody wanted to fuck with him.

No video of the fat man being knocked out by O'Neal, but still much appreciated CBright.

You mean this one?

motherfuckingclocked.gif

There it is.

Now someone needs to put "PWNED!" or something else to that effect at the end to make it truly internet worthy.

OK after seeing it live (plausibly) on the ESPN feed a few thoughts.

1) Yes it looked like Artest was looking into the stands in the general direction of the thrower. My bad.

2) The security was not able to get in the area of the fight because it was in the middle of a section, not near the aisle. Plus it was down in the big money area of the stands where you don't expect this to happen. However, once the corporate types left the drunken buffoons came down closer.

3) Ron Artest looked like he could have killed someone when they finally pulled him out of the pileup.

4) Austin Croshere was pretty funny kind of just standing out there in the middle of the floor until he noticed he was the only Pacer still out there.

5) The dustbin wielding Pacer looked very ECW-ish. New Jack indeed. He just needed to dive off the upper deck onto the scorer's table and the image would have been complete.

Edited because I can't count right now. Hey it's early.

Aside from Wallace/Artest/Jackson/O'Neal, Tinsley could potentially be in some trouble for the whole dust pan thing, i haven't seen the replays in a little while so i could be wrong but it looked like he was about to take a big swing into the crowd with it before someone bumped into him, although he didn't get to do anything with it coming back out of the dressing room with a weapon New Jack-style i doubt will be looked on too favorably.

Still love that clip of Jermaine nuking the fat fan with the slide punch.

Wow. An article over at CNNSI is already calling for Artest to be kicked out of the league. I happen to agree with 2Gold here, Artest was instigated by a completely classless crowd. But I guess some people see it a lot differently.
