Guest The Gecko Report post Posted November 21, 2004 I just love how the top 2 songs deal with some sort of "Rolling Stone"... coincidence...?
Guest Shutterspeed Report post Posted November 21, 2004 I'd say that it is. The kind of material you'd expect.
Guest Cerebus Report post Posted November 21, 2004 I like how two of the three songs from 2000 on are Eminem songs. Quality.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 "Imagine" has to be the most overrated song in the history of...er...history. It's a truly vile song.
Henry Spencer 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 How in the hell did Hey Jude become the de facto best Beatles song on all of these lists?
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 "Imagine" has to be the most overrated song in the history of...er...history. A little hyperbolic, that statement, but yeah, it's not a good song. Overproduced tripe. The best thing to come out of it? The Delgados, some 30 years later, nicked a bit of the melody for their fine song, "Child Killers."
Dogbert 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Get the Nirvana song out of the top 50 and I agree wholefartedly.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 I'm surprised that Heroes is in the top 50.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 wow, #133 Is Wont Get Fooled Again. I think some people need to get their head straight, on why this song, mind you album, is one of the best rock albums ever produced.

nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 10 What'd I Say, Ray Charles Total death pandering. As much as I'm a fan of Cash's, having I Walk the Line at 30 might be considered recent-death pandering, too. And I realized that this list was a joke when I saw Nirvana at #9. It makes those VH1 metal lists seem intelligent.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 I don't think I'll ever understand Dylan/Lennon love at all
Guest Cerebus Report post Posted November 22, 2004 I Walk The Line isn't even Cash's best song by a longshot. Man in Black, Ghost Riders, and Ring of Fire alone are far superior.
Guest P!NK. Report post Posted November 22, 2004 Pfft. I'm surprised people even care about lists like these anymore, since they exist only to give mid-lifers an excuse to reminisce about how music was so pristine in their era. Like you're really going to compare the musical virtues of Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin, and Nirvana within the same context.

You can make the case with Led Zeppelin and Nirvana being compairable, but not with Elvis.
Guest JMA Report post Posted November 23, 2004 Stairway To Heaven and Sympathy For The Devil should both be much higher on the list. Bohemian Rhapsody not being in the top fifty is a crime.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2004 I'm glad Stairway isn't number one, it nearly is on any list (and if its not then its Smells Like Teen Spirit)
Guest Shutterspeed Report post Posted November 23, 2004 I've only seen Smells Like Teen Spirit as #1 on a list of the "100 greatest songs of the 90s" or something. Actually, it's pretty much always #1 on those sorts of list, as Nevermind is when dealing with albums.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2004 One thing I noticed that psycho Phil Specter was everywhere in the 60's. Also alot of songs from the 60's Girl Groups made the list.
Big McLargeHuge 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2004 TSM should do a list like this... if only to hear other boards call us idiots and piss and moan about how a 10 year old song is ranked so high, or how there aren't any Swedish death metal bands on there. In fact, we should make a list for every forum on here: movies, songs, matches and deem them to be official. Just to piss people off.
Murmuring Beast 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2004 It's only right that a song like 'Be My Baby' is on there. Spector deserves a mention. The song is a piece of brilliance. Fuck the voices, listen to that boom.
Henry Spencer 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2004 I, too, am surprised by the high placing of Heroes. Not disapointed, though. It's my favorite Bowie song by far.
Guest combat_rock Report post Posted November 24, 2004 I can't believe Blitzkerg Bop is only at 92. Like it or not, there aren't many more iconic, genre defining (and in my opinion) perfect songs than that one.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2004 Not one single Pink Floyd song in the top 50...And where's the love for I Don't Like Mondays by the Boomtown Rats?
Anorak 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2004 At least Waterloo Sunset made the top 50. Glad to see Bridge Over Trouble Water as well. Everybody Hurts > One

Even Maynard James Keenan's voice can't make that song listenable. Maynard made it worse. Because then it was the same song except now the vocals were droning.
