CBright7831 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2005 okay, Lushus is back with another question, this one concerning HHH: I vaguely remember an episode of Smackdown where HHH was battling Vince McMahon...the aftermath had HHH standing over a bloody Vince with Linda in the ring as HHH rubbed Vince's blood all over his chest...when was this? what was the reasoning for the match (it was for the world title wasn't it?)? eventual outcome? am I just dreaming this whole thing up? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sept 14, 1999, Las Vegas, SmackDown!. HHH goaded Vince into a title match so he could beat him down (which he did, for several minutes). Then, HHH bumps the ref, Austin runs in (he and HHH were feuding), Stone Cold Stunner on HHH, Austin puts Vince on top of HHH and revives the ref, 1-2-3, Vince McMahon is the WWE Champion. That Monday (9/20/99), Vince vacated the title so the winner of the '6-Pack Challenge' scheduled for that Sunday's Unforgiven PPV would be the new WWE Champion. At Unforgiven, guest referee Steve Austin was forced to count HHH's winning pinfall on The Big Show, but attacked The Game as he celebrated after the match. This set up Austin-HHH for the title at No Mercy the next month. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was The Rock actually. Bulldog hits Rock with a chair as he was about to finish HHH off. Austi ncame in and cracked Bulldog as HHH hit the pedigree on The Rock.

Guest Rrrsh Report post Posted August 25, 2005 I was watching the full RAW edition when Austin and HBK won the belts from Owen and Davey. It was 13 days before KotR 97, and they were still hyping HBK/Bret (If Bret cant beat HBK in 10 minutes, he never wrestles in the US. Foundation are handcuffed to posts) and Austin/Pillman. Obviously those plans got scrapped. Couple of questions 1. What was suppose to happen at KotR 97 with HBK/Bret 2. I have heard conflicting reports on why the matches were scrapped. Austin did attack Bret at the end of the RAW I watched. If it was a work, it would explain why Bret/HBK was scrapped. Was Pillmas still hurt? Did they realize KotR wasnt the place for such a big rematch? Was Bret and Shawn backstage fight (due to Sunny days comment) the only reason it was scrapped?
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2005 I'm pretty sure Bret was supposed to get some sort of cheap DQ or whatever so he could avoid "never wrestling in the US again" stip. Basically all of those other factors had a hand in it too. Due to the backstage fight and it just not being the right time for such a rematch they just said the hell with it. Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted August 28, 2005 herb's 1991 tidbits of interest: As I reported before, Adnon Kaisy has already been stabbed by a crazed fan at a show in the US the WWF is courting both Mike Tyson and Donovan Ruddock to act as a special referee at WM 7. Iron Mike and Razor Ruddock will meet on Monday, and the WWF wants the winner as a ref. Apparently, Greg Valentine & the Honky Tonk Man debuted at a WCW taping this weekend. Greg worked. Honky worked as a commentator. In any case, the marriage of Elizabeth and Randy Savage in the ring is almost certainly going to be the "Match Made In Heaven". I'm led to believe that the "Match Made In Hell" will be Hulk Hogan vs. The Undertaker. It's expected that Ted DiBiase will interrupt the wedding of Randy of Liz to set up his feud with Randy Savage. It's expected that Sherri Martel will interrupt the ceremony. Also, Sid Justice will make his debut at the event, facing Curt Hennig in an Intercontinental Title match. Roddy Piper & Virgil vs. Ted DiBiase & Sherri (Probably at SummerSlam, and certainly after the event, Virgil will start wearing a dress and make-up and calling himself Virgilina.) Earthquake & Typhoon vs. Jake Roberts & Andre, Rumours have Bad News Brown returning from Japan to take on the Barbarian on the card. July 14th at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. Vince is trying to make this an extravagant event and it will be released as a Coliseum Video down the road. Vince has been trying to get some golden oldies to appear or even work at the Busch Stadium card, just to show his love for the history of the sport. Lou Thesz, Harley Race and Jack Brisco have all declined. Dr. Death is going to be coming to the WWF in August. After SummerSlam, Steve Williams will join forces with the Undertaker and be managed by Paul Bearer Initial talk has Flair coming in as a babyface, and eventually turning heel and teaming with Ted DiBiase. Flair will become the six-million dollar man (perhaps a little jab at Steve Austin?) and the two million dollar men will be managed by Sherri Martel. Randy Savage has given Vince McMahon his notice. He's retiring as a wrestler, but wants to stay on as a commentator. Of course, Vince wants Randy back in the ring against Jake Roberts, especially after filming that skit at the reception. Lanny Poffo, Randy's brother, was brought in to replace John "The Coach" Tolos as manager of the Beverly Brothers, in an attempt to sway Randy. Tolos, by the way, was let to go for health reasons according to the WWF. Vince has decided to create a wrestler with a Lion's mask - not a Tiger Mask ;-) - and has gotten none other than Paul Orndorff to return to the WWF and work the character, called The Lion Jody Hamilton is ref Nick Patrick's father The talk is that Ric Flair will work against Hogan for the first time at Survivor Series on November 27th. Guest jm29195 Report post Posted August 28, 2005 - There are reports that the WWF will release a book written by the Undertaker. It's entitled "Tombstoned". There is a lot of talk that the Undertaker will be given the WWF Title, with the primary guess being that it will take place on Monday Night Raw's Halloween edition. There is little doubt that current WWF champ Bret Hart will be moved into a feud with King Kong Bundy in November (they are already lined up to face each other in Europe anyhow), so perhaps Bundy will be put over big with a brief world title reign before dropping the title to Undertaker. Popular prediction has Yokozuna being the interim champ and losing to the Undertaker as a way of balancing the scales in that old feud. Just prior to Halloween, the house shows are still headlined by Hart vs. Jim Neidhart and Undertaker vs. Yokozuna in casket matches. King Kong Bundy as WWF Champ in 1994? That's funny..... Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted August 30, 2005 herb's 1992 tidbit highlights: Shawn Michaels & Ted DiBiase will be forming a tag team managed by Sherri Martel. El Gigante may get signed to be the super-villain in some future James Bond movies. Imagine James Bond stealing a jetpack harness from some evil mastermind, who then hires Gigante to get it back from Bond. The big confrontation occurs between Bond and Gigante and Gigante lets his most practices English line rip: "I want da belt!" ;-) The recent raid of the WWF locker rooms by police in St. Louis came up empty handed because the wrestlers knew that the action was going to take place. Reports are that the wrestlers were being looked at for cocaine possession, but you can bet that the police would have settled for steroids, marijuana, or anything else that they would usually find in the locker rooms. Apparently, Magic Johnson has approached both the WWF and WCW about doing wrestling shows as part of an AIDS benefit. The rumours have him proposing some inter-federational matches as the draw WCW was negotiating with Marty Janetty and Shane Douglas about bringing in the pair as a face tag team The WBF is undergoing some problems right now, with Vince claiming that he is going to make steroid testing a part of the organization. This was enough to scare Vince's only WBF household name, Lou Ferrigno, out of his contract. In a Scotty Flamingo match on one of last weekend's WCW shows, when Scotty was disrobing, he kept yelling for the "ringboy" to come get his wardrobe. Several "Ringboy! Come here, ringboy!" calls were made by Scotty. This prompted Jim Ross to say something like, "What is Scotty talking about? I didn't know we had ringboys." I'm sure that this is somehow supposed to be taken as a veiled reference to the WWF ringboy sexual harrassment stories. It is expected that Randy Savage will lose the WWF Title to the Ultimate Warrior at the SummerSlam PPV in August and most likely retire in a final attempt to salvage his marriage. I saw the "Rocko" sketch today while catching up on the syndies from last weekend. Paul Ellering will now have this stupid puppet at ringside to remind the LOD where they came from. The puppet was originally going to be called "Freckles," with it's real-life counterpart eventually being played by Bob Backlund. Bob has turned down the WWF's offer to join the circus. Fair guess would be that at SummerSlam, the LOD will be on the verge of defeating Money Inc. for the WWF Tag Titles when the Genius sneak attacks Paul Ellering and the Beverly Brothers run off with "Rocko". The distraught LOD will get counted out chasing the doll thieves while Ted DiBiase laughs about buying the Beverley's services. Perhaps later, Ted will once again have possession of the doll and will have hired Papa Shango to put a curse on it in order to take away the LOD's good luck charm. Shango's curse could get interrupted by an LOD run-in and the partial curse may somehow mysteriously bring the doll to life. Once we see the doll's face, we may be able to guess as to who gets the role of being "Rocko." The WBF championship got a whopping 3000 buys, translating to a 0.0075% buy rate It's been rumoured that El Gigante will be teamed with Andre The Giant in the WWF There is talk of Hogan working a wrestler vs. boxer match against George Foreman in japan Ric Flair was apparently very unhappy with the title change to Bret Hart. Flair didn't like the suddenness of the decision. He no-showed the next night's TV tapings and also no-showed a house show in Hamilton. Official word is that he's injured. the Nasty Boys will get Lou Albano as a manager now that they are faces Kamala's face turn should happen before the Rumble. Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted September 2, 2005 1993 tidbits of interest: It looks like the WWF has let the Bushwhackers go. Talk is that they'll return to WCW using their old Sheepherders gimmick. Rumours abound that Davey Boy Smith is coming to WCW. There's also talk that Dynamite Kid is going to come out of retirement (what wrestler has ever stayed retired the first time?). So, guess what other rumour is around? Rumour has it that Ric Flair, Sid Vicious, Cactus Jack, and Sting will join forces. Jerry Lawler vs. Genichiro Tenryu is tentative for WM 9 The other big surprise at Slamboree was the appearance of Nailz, er..., The Prisoner. My jaw dropped when Gordon Solie and Tony Schiavone announced that Nailz would be Sting's opponent at the PPV on WCW Saturday Night. I wondered if WCW offices would get a fax from Vince about this one prior to the PPV. Sure enough, no more references to Nailz. Anyhow, word here is that this is *not* just a one-shot deal (argh]), but that WCW is also going to bring in the Big Boss Man to resume his old feud with Nailz, with the guys using different ring names. Brian Clark (the Night Stalker,(Adom bomb) supposedly getting a vampire gimmick after WM 9 Friar Ferguson is rumored to be set to feud with Tyfoon KOR 93: Hulk Hogan vs. Yokozuna for the WWF Title (rumoured that Mr. Fuji will not be present at ringside, but that Jimmy Hart and Brutus Beefcake will be; Beefcake will trim Yokozuna's hair after he loses the match; New Japan referee Tiger Hattori will be special referee) Slamboree 93: Wahoo McDaniel & Dusty Rhodes vs. Blackjack Mulligan & Ole Anderson is listed as a legends match ---Word here is that Slamboree will set up a feud between Dusty Rhodes and Black Jack Mulligan. Both guys will bring in their sons and we'll be "graced" with Dusty & Dusty vs. Jack & Barry Windham matches over the next while. There is talk that (gasp) the Ultimate Warrior will make an appearance at Slamboree. Let's hope that we can chalk this up to vicious rumour. Meltzer reports that UW asked for $250000 a year just to work (if that's the right word) WCW PPVs. The birth of ECW? : The plot thickens regarding Jim Crockett. First off, Paul E. Dangerously is going to start up a new promotion, with its first TV taping taking place on 06/11. He's talked of using Hawk, Pat Tanaka, Paul Diamond, and reviving the Wrestling School Dropout. The taping will be a one-shot which will get paraded around TV stations in the fall to see if it can get picked up. Now, Jim Crockett is contractually bound not to compete with WCW until 11/01/93, so the story goes that Paul is just doing the preliminary stuff to get TV for the promotion that he & Crockett will eventually run together. Meltzer reports that midget wrestler Tiger Jackson will become the "Little Hulkster" and basically mimmick the "Big Hulkster." I think that means that he'll forget about improving his wrestling ability, take physique-enhancing drugs but praise natural vitamins and training, never ever job, and demand a title before appearing on camera. Actually, it probably means that he'll get demolished by Hogan's next rival following Yokozuna (or perhaps Yokosuna himself?). It looks like the recent series of tag title changes in the WWF weren't really intentional after all. Rumour has it that the Steiners made demands and threatened to walk, so the titles were changed. Then DiBiase & Rotunda matched the threat so the titles were changed. Of course, you can't please both teams, so Vince finally settled on pleasing the Steiners and swapped the titles one more time. Now, the story is that DiBiase & Rotunda are gonna walk over to WCW and appear there *very* soon. If DiBiase gets turned on again, his arrival could be great for wherever he turns up. Ted DiBiase leaves the WWF at the end of the July and will head to All Japan. He tried to get a job with WCW before going, but wanted too much guaranteed money. The Observer reports that Ted was asking for $250000, which I'm sure WCW has earmarked for their next mini-movie. The Nasty Boys are heels again in WCW. The Hollywood Blonds, Pillman & Austin, will turn face and feud with the Nasty Boys once they win the tag titles. - After Lex Luger becomes the WWF World champion, the WWF will return to the usual super-patriot vs. foreign-menace formula. Yokozuna and Ludwig Borge (Tony Halme) as an Aryan skinhead will play heels. Luger, Duggan and Nikolai Volkoff will be the patriotic babyfaces. Of course, Jacques Rougeau and Pierre Ouellet will be heels from Quebec. (What is it with Quebec? Dino Bravo and Jim Duggan had that big flag feud and now this. Is the US at war with Canada or Quebec?) SSlam 93 matches announced that didn’t occur: 1-2-3 Kid & Razor Ramon vs. Ted DiBiase & I.R.S. * Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Tatanka * Doinks vs. Crush & Marty Janetty * Adam Bomb vs. Tito Santana The WWF has fired referee Joey Morella. Word has it that Gino "Gorilla Monsoon" Morella is going to quit as a sign of his displeasure. Boy, what a blow to the lower occipital protuberance! Who's that fourth Horseman anyhow? There's a rumour in the air that WCW looking at two wrestlers, in particular, for the job, namely Stan Lane or Terry Taylor. Given that Stan Lane didn't jump at the chance to re-unite with Bobby Eaton, it's doubtful that a new offer to be a Horseman will bring him in (although it might be neat if the other Horsemen eventually kicked Stan out and he and Bobby re-united then to work against Stan's former friends). So, what do you people who hated the idea of Paul Roma as a Horseman think of Terry Taylor as a Horseman? From today's Globe And Mail, "Mexican free-style wrestler Gerardo, alias Super Animal, pursues the cause of animal rights, says Cox News Service. Recently, he donned his black mask, black cape and gold lam'e cape before charging into a Mexico City slaughterhouse and rescuing a pig that had a bloody nose. He complained that the animal had been mistreated. `We don't mind what he's saying,' said worker Ismael Gurierrez. `We just wish he would come in in a respectable suit.'" This weekend's WCW Saturday Night had Tony Schiavone mention during the first match that Hawk would be on the face team at Fall Brawl. A few minutes later during the Fall Brawl Control Center, Chris Cruise reported that Shockmaster would be the fourth man. Nice to see them pay such close attention while editing out Hawk's name from the TV broadcasts. Cruise mentioned that Shockmaster made "quite an entrance" at the Clash. The cable advertisement for the show (which had to be submitted a couple of months in advance) has a picture of Hawk on the face team instead of the Shockmaster. The photo caption reads Harlem Heat for that tag team but the descriptive text in the ad says the heel team is "Big Van Vader, Sid Vicious and The Ebony Nightmares." Mean Gene millionaire: Gene Okerlund has jumped ship from the WWF to WCW. Okerlund joined the WWF at the same time as Hulk Hogan did in 1983 and, at times, was the most recognizable voice in the promotion. Both Okerlund and Bobby Heenan were contemplating a jump, but Heenan remains in the WWF fold. As a deal sweetener, Okerlund will take over control of the WCW 900 phone line and reportedly earn 35% of that income plus $250000 a year. He will reported debut in WCW next week, working as a program host of some sort and doing the magazine and event center segments. Don Muraco is on his way back to the WWF. KK Bundy is rumored to be returning to put over Yokozuna. New Japan's "Wrestle Dinner" (combination dinner with formal-wear fashion show and a 4 match wrestling card) drew a sell-out of 700 guests, with a gate of $210000. Del Wilkes was Spellbinder (?!?!?!?!) Hulk Hogan interview: His group's album will be released in four weeks. The group is called "Hulk Hogan's Wrestling Boot Trash Can Band." The album features a mix of musical styles from funky to country to rock. He said that the group includes Jimmy Hart and mentioned his musical career. He said the other wrestlers in the group were Hillbilly Jim, Brutus Beefcake, Koko B. Ware, and Typhoon SSeries: Team Doink: 4 Doinks (Doink & Randy Savage & Men on a Mission) vs. Team Crush: Crush & Bam Bam Bigelow & Headshrinkers I wonder what Randy Savage is thinking? What good fortune to be able to dress up as a Doink for a PPV. The Toronto Star also reports that Greg Valenting is back in the WWF. It goes on to say that Greg will be bringing his wife Madusa into the WWF as well, but based on TV tapings in which both took part, they will not be paired together. The Star also reports that Rowdy Piper is being talked to about having a match against Lex Luger. My inference is that this is an attempt to mimmick the "Ultimate Warrior effect" by having Luger beat a well-known babyface to give him some much-needed stature and I'm pretty doubtful, considering the source. In the "you thought it couldn't get more tasteless" department, talk is that George "The Animal"
