bob_barron Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 I saw the trailer for it in front of Taxi. Poor Kenan- it looks terrible. I wonder how they got the Cos to be in this mess?
Vyce Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 This looks even worse than I imagined it to be.
razazteca Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 U Got Served kid is in the big hat.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Oh lord, I saw this preview a few days ago. I laughed, but for all the wrong reasons...
Ravenbomb Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 *shrug* The only thing I thought looked THAT bad was the whole "rapping" part. Other than that it looks more or less mediocre
Ted the Poster Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 I saw the trailer for it in front of Taxi. Poor Kenan- it looks terrible. I wonder how they got the Cos to be in this mess? Cosby was one of the writers.
Guest Scud Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 After watching the trailer I find it very weird that they are making this a live action movie where they come out of the television instead of making the cartoon characters' world "real."
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Only you guys could hate on Fat Albert.
ant_7000 Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 I liked Fat Albert as a kid, so I might check it out.
Guest El Satanico Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 I find it very weird that they are making this a live action movie where they come out of the television instead of making the cartoon characters' world "real." What? I didn't know they were doing it like that. That's a trick straight from the 80's, ala He-Man and Garbage Pail Kids. I honestly don't see what some of you are bitching about. I'm not sure what you are expecting from a live action Fat Albert movie, but this looks to be as good as it can be. The Fat Albert kids all look perfect and Kenan seems like perfect casting for Fat Albert. Of course it's going be a stupid movie, but it's based on Fat Albert cartoons, so what do you expect.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 They expect Shakespeare.
The Metal Maniac Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Yeah, this looks like it might be half-decent, for a movie about an old kid's cartoon. I like the idea that they're just coming right out of the TV though - I think they could get more gags out of that then they could if they were just real, or whatever.
claydude14 Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 I saw a trailor for it at Spongebob, the coming out of the TV gimmick is pretty cool. That character from Fat Albert that has that hat covering his face, gets mocked in a classroom or something for wearing it, and he says it's because nothings under it, takes it off and they scream or something. That's kinda cool.

That's kinda cool. I Saw that part about nothing being under the hat, and if you consider that they are a cartoon that comes out of a tv, and when they draw the cartoon, they only draw the hat, not anything under it, then that makes sense. Took me a while to think about it that way.
claydude14 Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 I was stoned, so I went nuts. Maybe I'll see this when it gets to the dollar theatre. Movies go there to die from the local Cinamark theatre, it's like a lowgrade Cinamark chain. I love it.
Guest SP-1 Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Definite dollar theater material. if that. Not because I think it'll be a bad movie but more just because I don't especially care about the characters. For what it's making itself out to be I think it'll actually succeed: that being a family-oriented comedy drawing on an existing fan base of grown-ups just old enough to fondly remember their childhood. And Cosby's involved because, I believe, he was one of the creators or writers. Someone else who knows more than me can expand on that.
Guest El Satanico Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Cosby was the creator and writer of the show. The show was inspired by a bit he did in his stand up routine about kids from his neighborhood when he was a kid.
spman Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 As a movie theater employee who willingly sits through all kinds of crap when he's bored simply because he doesn't have to pay, I can honestly say that this doesn't look as bad as some of the worst stuff I've seen.
AndrewTS Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 I honestly kinda liked the approaches Josie & The Pussycats and Rocky & Bullwinkle took to it. They were still stupid in a lot of ways, but didn't take themselves all that seriously and had fun with the premise. This could be that way, but I never saw the old cartoons. If they make a Jabberjaw movie, I won't see it no matter what, though.
Guest El Satanico Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Don't bad mouth Jabberjaw foo!
Nighthawk Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Wait a minute... somebody didn't know Fat Albert was Cosby's? Bob's an idiot. The damn show was called Fat Albert and The Cosby Kids. They should have gotten the real Fat Albert to appear in the movie, except if he's as old as Bill Cosby and morbidly obese, I'm sure he's long dead.

I knew that- I just can't believe he would be involved in the movie. Then again this is the guy who made Ghost Dad
AndrewTS Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Wait a minute... somebody didn't know Fat Albert was Cosby's? Bob's an idiot. Naw, it's just that a) it's before his time, just like a lot of us b) he's probably more familiar with Care Bears, Jem & the Holograms, Rainbow Brite, etc. Then again this is the guy who made Ghost Dad Ghost Dad? Pffft... What about Leonard Part 6??!?!
Guest El Satanico Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Cosby has been in a long line of crap, so we could continue listing them for weeks. How is it hard to figure out why Cosby would be in the movie version of his own creation?
bob_barron Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 I am just suprised that a guy like Bill Cosby would agree to do it. Is it true he bought the rights to Leonard Part 6 so it would never be seen again?
Nighthawk Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Yes, but he didn't buy the rights to the Little Rascals because they were racist, despite what you may hear. Cosby has done nothing but garbage for a long time. His stand up was always top notch, and for that he's a legend, but he's churned out more crap than most.
Guest El Satanico Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Well he's also a legend thanks to The Cosby Show. In fact, he's probably now more known for the show than for his stand up.
bob_barron Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 I bought Bill Cosby: Himself a few weeks ago. What a hilarious DVD. The part where he talks about his son ending up dead was kind of creepy though
