therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2004 I'll start with my team, Philadelphia Eagles...... Offense: The offense is pretty much set for next year at the skill positions, but there could be some offensive line shuffling. Either Tra Thomas or Jon Runyan will be gone after this year, as the Eagles will look to get younger at the offensive line. My guess is Runyan, since he's older and they drafted Shawn Andrews to eventually replace him. Jermane Mayberry I think is a free agent as well, he's probably gone. Chad Lewis is a free agent, but I have a feeling that he may come back for the veteran minmum since there probably won't be much of a market for him. Freddie Mitchell is a free agent as well, there's a better chance of him being gone since he's been reportedly complaining about not having passes thrown his way and since Greg Lewis was signed to an extension, my guess is that Lewis will eventually will be the slot receiver. Draft-wise, I could see the Eagles taking a RB to split carries with Westbrook or another O-lineman to replace whoever leaves. Defense: On the defensive line, Corey Simon is most likely gone after this year, since he'll probably ask for a ton of money after having an absolute shit year, and since the coaching staff has been playing Sam Rayburn more and more, I think the writing is on the wall for Corey. Derrick Burgess will be a free agent, if there's not much of a market for him he'll be back. At the linebacker position, reportedly the Eagles want to bring Trotter back, so hopefully they can get a deal hammered out early. My hope is that they'll finally send Simoneau packing, but since he probably has dirty pictures of Andy Reid and Jim Johnson, he'll probably be back. This is a position I'd like to see them address in the draft maybe in the second round. Cornerbacks are locked up, and hopefully Michael Lewis' extension is finished soon. Overall, the Eagles should be set for another run next year.

Gert T 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2004 This seems a little early especially for you Eagles fans! For me with the Bengals I can at least hold out until the next loss. I thin as good as the Eagles will finish, the 1st round pick will be the old "best player available."
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2004 Eh I was bored. They do have Miami's 2nd rounder thanks to the Feeley trade so that'll be a high pick.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2004 Washington Redskins - omg, where to begin. Well assuming Smoot is is signed to an extension, I would leave the defense alone. I know they lack a true pass rusher, but with Arrington & Bowen back next season, their blitzing power will once again be the threat it was for the first 3-4 games this season. On Offense - To me it all starts with the offensive line. I dunno if Gibbs feels it is just a bunch of guys in their first year in the system, or if he thinks they are a bunch of scrubs that need to be scrapped. I for one, would put the lockdown on Jon Jansen & Randy Thomas which would shore up one side of the line as GREAT, and the rest of the offensive line I can live without. Chris Samuels was a probowler his second year in the league, but the following year he severely hurt his ankle and has never been the same since. His contract gets out of control starting next season but the cap hit is enormous if he gets cut, so if he refuses to renegotiate, he might get traded. The tough spot though is the fact that the Ends are the hardest to start over with. After that honestly it is hard to judge because face it, an offense can look completely different when they have a solid offensive line that gives the QB time to throw and can run block for more then half of a second. As far as the draft, I would go O-lineman first, then a Defensive End, then maybe a WR, since letting Mr. 50/50(which should be turned into 30/70 lately) Rod Gardner, is not worth resigning. MARTYEWR 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2004 Buffalo Bills (gone from the playoffs unless a miracle happens): Offense: Continue building and developing. If Bledsoe continues at his improved pace for the remainder of the season, don't go after another quarterback (unless they feel the need to replace Travis Brown at the third-string for some reason). Continue developing Losman. At running back, make a decision on Henry. If you're going to trade him, release him, whatever, find a good back-up to McGahee who'll go for cheap bucks for cap room. I don't have a problem with the receivers. The offensive line's improved, but I'd still shop or draft for more help. Defense: The only major concern for me is the defensive line. Williams and Adams are REALLY good when they're good, but when they start sucking wind, Buffalo is vulnerable to the run. The Bills have had a history of problems at the defensive line (even during Bruce Smith's prime years with the team), so this is nothing new. Linebackers and secondary seem fine, and losing Antonio Winfield to the Vikings hasn't really hurt them at all. Try to keep everyone in the group as best as you can. Special Teams: Terrence McGee is the man, Clements also holds his own as a returner, and I have no problems with the kicking game. No changes, unless, of course, there's cap issues (I feel like a broken record saying that). All this, of course, depends an awful lot on how December goes... Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2004 eh, Troy Vincet and Lawyer Milloy's age is starting to scare me, I'd definently shoot to fill one of those spots in the draft...definetly, though, the OL needs to improve and shop Travis Henry around to see what turns up... nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2004 New England Patriots: Replace Crennel and/or Weis, depening on which gets a head coaching gig this offseason (hopefully neither, even though few assistants are more worhty than these two) I wouldn't mind a little more depth at O-line and a few younger DB's. I also wouldn't mind a back-up QB that I had some more faith in. Davey was supposed to light it up in the preseason, and didn't.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted November 30, 2004 the Bears need to fix just about everything obviously. QB - *barf* they need a real backup, because who knows how Grossman's knee is going to turn out. RB - there actually ok here. I wouldn't call either guy good, but the're both above average. WR - they could literally replace every single one of these guys. Let's hope they do. TE - cut Desmond Clark so we can stop paying him OL - the only certainties here are Tait (RT) and Kreutz ©. Tucker has looked horrible since returning, who knows with Columbo, and Qasim Mitchell has to be one of the worst starters in pro football. DL - Has actually looked good. Tommie Harris seems to be real and Alex Brown has really improved. But get Boone out of there. LB - Lance Briggs has been a nice suprise, Urlacher is good to great when he's not hurt. Joe Odom is replaceable and Urlacher needs a real backup. DB - If Tillman and Mike Brown can get over thier injuries this should be fine. Azumah is decent and RDub is tolerable if he only plays nickle and takes that stupid bandaid off. Bobby Gray and Mike Green are doable. Bear special teams are actually pretty good with Edinger, Maynard, Azumah and RDub Lovie seems to be a decent coach, with a good team he could win some games. C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2004 RE: Eagles and Corey Simon, I say good riddance to him. He showed up fat and not ready to play, and Rayburn has been better anyways. the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2004 Eagle thoughts: - Steve Sciullo might be playing himself into a job for next season to the point where I would not mind an OL of Runyan/Andrews(stud)/Fraley/Scuillo/Hicks. Goodbye Thomas, good riddance. - Goodbye FredEx. Methinks he will want to be paid like the legend he is in his mind as opposed to the mediocre third down back he is on the field. - I agree that it is likely Chad Lewis will be back, but I disagree about there being no market for him. Tight ends are having a rebirth in the league and there are a few teams who could probably use him, especially with a young QB. - A DE is needed as the production opposite Kearse has been disappointing considering they never get doubled. coughGoGetDavidPollackcough - Sam Rayburn will be a starter next year and Corey Simon will be disappointing some team that saw the name and thought he was still a Pro Bowler - They will address the WLB in the offseason as Simoneau has been disappointing. This reeks of the Thrash saga where the coaches will never talk bad about them in public, but will address the problem at some point. - The secondary they are locked with the contracts they just gave out. Just get the Lewis extension done ASAP (most underrated safety in the league).

They currently have P.K. Sams, Deion Branch, Bethel Johnson, and David Givens to hold down the fort but could look at a FA WR to come in ala Dedric Ward and J.J. Stokes in previous seasons. Candidates: Dane Looker(St.. Louis), Cedrick Wilson(San Francisco), Kelly Campbell(Minnesota), Tai Streets(Detroit), Reche Caldwell(San Diego), Plaxico Burress(Pittsburgh), Troy Edwards(Jacksonville), Corey Bradford(Houston), and Travis Taylor(Baltimore). - Could bring in a younger FA T and G or could go that route via the draft. Definitely look at getting younger in the LB corps as the youngest players we have now are Banta-Cain(24) and Chatham, Colvin and Kurpeikis all at 27. Candidates: G Ben Hamilton(Denver), G Bennie Anderson(Baltimore), T Kareem McKenzie(Jets), T Matt Willig(Carolina), G Matt Lehr(Dallas), G Marco Rivera(Green Bay but 32), G Eric Heitmann(San Francisco), T Orlando Pace(St. Louis) and T Floyd Womack(Seattle). - Defensive Line is very young and has great depth. - Cornerbacks are young but could use some FA pickups to add depth since Law and Poole are both getting up there in age. Potential CB candidates: Fred Smoot, Ken Lucas, Jimmy Williams, Allen Rossum, Renaldo Hill, Andre Dyson, Charles Woodson, and Gary Baxter. - Maybe draft a kicker in the late rounds as insurance behind Vinatieri due to his age. - Definitely look at grabbing a solid FA backup QB. Potential players could be Quincy Carter, Mike McMahon, and Gus Frerotte. Market is very thin though so they may be better off drafting one.

Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2004 Ravens: -- Shore up the offensive line. We learned this year that Jonathan Ogden is mortal. Orlando Brown is immature. Edwin Mulitalo is solid, but the C and RG positions could be upgraded. The unit run-blocks better than they pass-block, and they'll need to work on the latter. -- Draft a receiver. I'd love to see the Ravens trade up and nab Mike Williams, but I don't see it happening. There are some good tall receivers available in the first and second rounds on every draft board, though, and at least one needs to come to Baltimore. -- Draft a kicker. I like Stover, but he's not getting any younger, and 50 yards is about all he's good for on a FG anymore. His kickoffs are unspectacular, and Wade Richey, on the roster because of kickoffs, is hardly any better. The team needs to find some strong-legged fellow with good accuracy to handle kickoffs and long field goals, and move into the starting gig when Stover retires. Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted December 1, 2004 Raiders: First, release Kerry Collins. He'll be making too much dough for playing as inconsistant as he does. Fire Norv Turner and hire Romeo Crennel from the Pats. It depends what to do with their first round pick. If they can resign Jerry Porter, than they need to draft a QB in the first round. If Porter walks, they need to draft a WR and play Tuiasosopo. Besides Porter, the Raiders have a solid young receiving core with Ronald Curry and Doug Gabriel. They'll make a pitch for one of the running backs on the market (Travis Henry, Edg James, or Ricky Williams) they'll probably get the latter. Aside from Jake Grove and Robert Gallery, no one is safe on the o-line. Ron Stone's best days are behind him, and Barry Sims is fairly inconsistant. They need to totally overhaul the 3-4 defense. If they don't they should cut Warren Sapp. Again, we makes too much dough to be wasted at defensive end. That money should be spent on finding more linebackers. Napoleon Harris (who has been injured pretty much all year) is the only noteworthy linebacker. Their cornerback situation is good as is, unfortunately, Woodson is a free agent looking for some mad cash. Is he worth it ? I like him, he's the only true pro bowler (and he's not even going to be one) on the team. Philip Buchanon will be good once he cuts back on his mistakes. Marques Anderson is solid and will stick around. Ray Buchanon will be cut and will probably retire for not being able to keep up to any fo the young WRs. Stuart Shweigert can fill in for Ray. Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted December 1, 2004 Pittsburgh Steelers -They still need secondary work, so it would be nice to see them try and draft a capable cornerback. -With defensive lineman's Aaron Smith and Kimo VanOlhoffen(sp?) in their 30's they need to draft young defensive ends to take their places. They are going to need someone to replace Kimo sooner than Smith however. At least both can still play though.....but for how long? -Running backs. I know that the Steelers have the best running attack in the NFL, but with Bettis approaching retirement and Duce and his injury problems they might need one sooner than later. -Tight End. They have good enough ones for now, but considering that Burress could be gone next year they might be better suited for a recieving TE over a super high priced reciever. Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted December 1, 2004 Bettis won't retire for another year or three. If he hadn't had such a good year I would agree he'd be done after this year. Plaxico may stick around because the Steelers look to have a solid unit of guys. Both he and Hines Ward are in their primes with a dominant running game and a young QB. How can that not be an appealing situation? Hopefully he'll bypass a little cash to stay and win some championships. And everything else I agree with you 100%. CB seems to be their most glaring hole. They have good enough ones for now, but considering that Burress could be gone next year they might be better suited for a recieving TE over a super high priced reciever. Agreed on the secondary, but the unit they have right now looks like it may grow into something. They probably need to find a long term solution to play opposite Townsend since Scott and Williams are both just about done. At DE I think they still have a couple of years in production out of both guys, and while it would be nice to play for the future, they'll probably want to make sure they address other problems first. At RB I think they'll be fine even if Jerome does go. I know Duce has had injury problems, but I think he will eventually be able to carry the load for most of the time, and Veron Haynes is growing into a very capable back up. I really don't think tight end is a big deal at all right now. Riemersma is a pretty good pass catcher, but even after they signed him they didn't even try to throw him the ball. It's just not something they do. The problem I see is actually in the offensive line. I know they're playing very well right now, but other than Faneca and maybe Marvel Smith it might be a little shaky. Hartings is a very good center, but he's been having knee issues for a couple years already. Kendall Simmons should be a very good player, but he wasn't at full strength last year with his diabetes and had to miss all of this year with an injury. I don't think they have an answer at right tackle. Also, the big problem of the off season is Plaxico Burress and Kendrell Bell being free agents. I'm sure they'll end up franchising one of them, most likely Burress since Bell is always injured. I think they need to bring someone in as a replacement if they let Bell go. Larry Foote has played alright, but he isn't the impact player they want on the inside. If they let Plaxico go they of course need a real impact reciever, since Plaxico basically makes Hines Ward by drawing away a lot of the coverage.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2004 The Steelers do NOT need another running back. Fast Willie Parker is eventually going to be a stud, and Duce will be fine. Bettis should retire after this season. As far as the secondary goes, they need a third corner. But that's it. Townsend should be replaced by Couclough in a few year's time, and Taylor should be able to replace the Williams/Scott mess. The safeties are both all-pro caliber, and that should be fine. They need a replacement for Hartings' creaky knees, and they need another good tackle, as was said before. I'd like to see them keep both recievers, but it ain't gonna happen. I expect Ward to be the one who walks, though, due to the rapport Ben and Plax are working up. And Jimmy correctly pointed out that since Kendrell will probably walk (I just wish he'd have been healthy... he could've been something), we need another MLB to go beside MVP Farrior. Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2004 Dolphins (caveat - I don't know what our free agency situation is like): 1) Head coach - duh. Aim for one of the hot NE coordinators. 2) RB - Edgerrin should be a top priority. He's from Miami, he'd love to play there, and he's been pretty much ignored (for lack of a better word) as Manning focuses on throwing for every TD. 3) QB - Feeley's a bust. Either aim for Brees in free agency, or use our top pick for a QB. I'd target at Leinart if he comes out (which I think he will), but I think SF may have the #1 pick wrapped up, and would take him. 4) O-line - need to shore it up. 5) WR - evaluate David Boston. If he can stay healthy & not wig out, he's a keeper. If it's too risky to keep him, we'll need a WR to play opposite Chambers. 6) Defense should be OK. Maybe do some tinkering w/ some role players, as the key spots (MLB, DB's) seem to be good. Maybe D-line could use some help.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted December 1, 2004 Browns: Quaterback: I think they're fine right now. Garcia is a good enough QB for next year and he should play well when he has a coach that will actually support him. I wouldn't mind seeing Kyle Orton end up on the team though. Running Back: START LEE SUGGS!!! Stop this splitting time shit and give the ball to Suggs. He's infinately better than Green. Fullback and Recievers are fine for the most part. Tight End: I'd say get rid of Winslow but I know that's not going to happen anytime soon. Offensive Line: Sign Orlando Pace. He wants to come to Cleveland so make the deal work. Faine, Tucker, Garmon and Pace will give them the first good offensive line they've had since they came back as an expansion team. Defensive Line: Toss everyone but Warren and Lang. Brown needs to go as he can not stay healthy. They should use their top draft pick on someone for the line. Linebackers: Davis and Holdman are good enough and Bentley is adequet so this area is fine enough for me. Secondary: Henry's ok but they really need a good cornerback to work with. Griffeth is a good safety but he's getting really old. Hopefully they'll use some lower picks to add some solid secondary guys. Coaching: This has been the big problem with the team since they made the playoffs. Hopefully they bring in Nick Saban to see what he can do. I think with the right coaching they wouldn't have to do a lot to the team player wise.
