However, they don't have a problem using the word Christmas in the advertising title "after Christmas Sale" once Dec. 25th has passed. Library officials in King County, Washington were not allowing Christmas trees to be put up until they backtracked and are now allowing library managers to make the decision themselves. King County Journal Schools throughout the country are prohibiting certain Christmas songs to be sung during school celebrations. Some lovely woman in my hometown tried to get the town council to pass a law that no decorations showing Jesus, Santa or anything that represents Christmas should be allowed in front yards. I never thought I could see a panel of humans raise their eyebrows that high. They looked at her like she just asked them to verify the existance of aliens. Anyone who's truly offended by use of the word "Christmas" to describe a national holiday and cultural event celebrated by 80% of the population needs a hammer to the head or something. Be more inclusive if you want and include greetings for other holidays if somoene feels left out but mostly this is the case of some atheists being assholes and trying to ruin the holidays for everyone else....Sheesh....Oh and Merry Christmas everyone. I once had a teacher tell me that Santa was actually Jesus returning to help people celebrate his birthday in style. Course this is the same teacher who felt eating a rabbitt on Easter was the only true way to celebrate the holiday. I'm slowly realizing my state is insane. Well he does technically have a religious root since he's based on Saint Nicolas, though I doubt anyone really knows that. It's just a broader shot at Christmas. Changing it isn't going to make a lick of difference. well you missed the point of my comment, which was to basically say that the "christian" part of christmas is pretty much gone from the general public, which I can care less about, and what I am saying also is that since christmas at it's root is supposedly a celebration of christ's birth, then if it came to be a fact that he was born some other time, would that mean the celebration of christmas would be attempted to be moved to, or would people care less and associate christmas more with winter and snow and cold weather rather then jesus(methink so). He'll lace up his Timberlands, shine up his bling-bling and fit in his gold teeth. He'll then enter my house via the back window and take my worldly possessions and put them in his bag. He'll pawn them off and all the little kids around the block can get good merchandise at an affordable price once Jan. 1 comes around.
