Guest Tjhe CyNick Report post Posted January 6, 2005 The show headlined by JBL vs Eddie vs Taker vs Booker did about 230,000 buys. Almost the same as the Sept show (HHH vs Orton) and significantly more than Taboo Tuesday and No Mercy. I thought it was going to be much lower.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted January 6, 2005 I'm honestly surprised.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 Dammit, they just gave fuel to the Undertaker. Cause you KNOW he is going to take full credit. "See Vince, the fans want another title run for the Deadman."
Guest Tjhe CyNick Report post Posted January 6, 2005 Yeah except the PPV he headlined by himself (with JBL) did 190K buys. I know what your saying, but hopefully someone brings up that fact.....crap Heyman is gone. I credit Eddie more than anyone.
Secret Agent 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 Well, I'd rather see him with it than JBL any longer. He'd be able to put someone over really well when he finally lost it from a pinfall.

(even though yes, ,he had faced each one before) But IMO, not one person.
Guest Fook Report post Posted January 6, 2005 I figured this would set an all-time low buyrate. I guess people are still into Eddie despite his lack of big wins.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 Taboo Tuesday was killed by not being on Sunday night. The real story is that this did better than No Mercy and December is typically a month people don't order PPVs. My guess is that the boost is because fans thought that JBL might actually lose this time, which is what WWE should be trying to do every month as opposed to telegraphing the finish in advance of the show like with Survivor Series & No Mercy. algrim 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 You're both wrong. Vince will probably credit Tough Enough for the buy rate.
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 Funaki = Buyrates. Oh no, you don't... Santa Claus = Buyrates. No, I believe he is right. This is a decent spike from recent times. Take a look at the buyrates for the last PPV broadcast Funaki was on, compared to anyone else on the show.

King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 I guess the fans are finally wanting to see JBL lose, in the good way. I.e, they'd pay money to see it.
Guest hhheld_down Report post Posted January 6, 2005 maybe JBL is finally drawing fans?
Sass 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 The company can take some solace for drawing an decent buyrate in a typically crummy month for numbers. Sorta.
SamoaRowe 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2005 I am shocked at that buyrate. Isn't that better than last year's? And I wouldn't be surprised if JBL has become a draw, at the house show i went to on monday he was so over it caught me off guard.

Guest Tjhe CyNick Report post Posted January 7, 2005 Its better than last year's initial number. But last year's show woud up being in the 230-240 range. But I seem to recall last year's show starting off at 215K or soemthing like that. Most of the recent shows haven't been getting big gains like the ones in '03 did. Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted January 7, 2005 Looks like the HTMism of this run finally kicked in...I seriously would just keep the title on JBL @ this point. Extend the TBS/JBL thing further. Have JBL win @ Rumble but not because of him (the Homicide/Punk/Joe finish) with Angle hitting a AngleSlam on Show and JBL quickly covering show for the win before angle could roll over. set up JBL/TBS Street Fight @ NWO with JBL cheating again to win...book some "impossible to cheat at" gimmick such as the Barbed Wire Cage Match. This time JBL actually wins on his own shocking everyone. Cena shouldn't be within the title anyways; build Cena up more legit with a 8 month U.S Title reign and have JBL "lose" the title to Eddy but only because he suffered a "injury". Give JBL 2 months off to rest...JBL gets the title back when he returns...and then JBL/Cena @ Summerslam in a Champion Vs Champion match.

Sorry to get off topic, but what would Angle be doing at No Way Out? I know your plan is HBK/Angle at WM, but who is he supposed to face in Febuary? Moreover, would Eddy face JBL at Wrestlemania? Guest The Shadow Behind You Report post Posted January 7, 2005 I'd just have the Angle Invitational thing where some jobber comes out and he dispatches him but while he celebrates, Shawn hops the 'Rail and delivers SCM and dances in his face and runs off as security goes after him. Promoter 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 Did RAW have a ppv last month? So many I can't even remember. If not then I would say that was a reason for the spike as well as the wwe doing a good job of making people think they were going to see a title change. When you think about it why wouldn't there be one with this track record? 2003 Goldberg lost the world title! 2002 Angle becomes new champ pinning Big Show 2001 Jericho becomes undisputed champion 2000 Angle in an impossible situation where people thought he would lose With that said I think the higher ups with this info along with raw's rating will really be re-thinking about HHH/Orton drawing for WrestleMania. I mean what excuse would they have for a low Mania buy-rate if they still go with HHH/Orton?
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 1. A RAW Star will win the Rumble. 2. Angle Vs. FACE at No Way Out, winner gets WM Title Shot. 3. HBK costs Angle match. 4. Face Vs. JBL at WM. HBK Vs. Angle.
