..I've been waiting months for this show. It's on after RAW.

The Ultimate Fighter™

Sixteen men from across the Americas travel to Las Vegas with one dream, one goal – to become The Ultimate Fighter™.

Determination. Discipline. Excellence.

These young men are accomplished athletes, disciplined in wide range of mixed martial arts that include wrestling, boxing, judo, Jiu-Jitsu, karate and kickboxing. Each has the dream, the hope, and the will to fight in an Ultimate Fighting Championship® event. Only one fighter from each of the two weight classes will succeed with the challenge.

During the show the competitors will take their training to a higher level. They will be brought to Las Vegas where the UFC® brand has its National Training Center. For the next seven weeks the competitors will be under the strict supervision of two of the most successful and famous UFC® fighters and trainers on the planet, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture and UFC Light Heavyweight #1 Contender Chuck Liddell.

The competitors will endure the most grueling training and intense pressure of their lives. They will train together, live together, and fight against each other inside and outside of the storied UFC Octagon. The men are split into two teams, Team Liddell and Team Couture. The two squads compete against each other within their weight classes to avoid elimination.

In each episode, the competitors will also compete in a “Challenge.” The Challenges are designed to push the fighters to the edge of their physical and mental capabilities. The Challenges revolve around old school training techniques, physical stamina, and mental strategy. The team that wins the challenge controls which fighters must fight to avoid elimination.

At the end of each week, one fighter from each team must fight in the Octagon to avoid being kicked out of the UFC Training Center™ until only two remain in each weight division. In the end, The Ultimate Fighter™ will be decided by a competition match -- a head-to-head fight to the finish inside the Octagon®.

The weak are eliminated…

The strong will survive…

Only one will be left standing in each weight class.

The Ultimate Fighter™

On the next episode of The Ultimate Fighter...

Episode 1 - The Quest Begins

Air date: 1/17/2005

The 16 fighters arrive in Las Vegas to begin their journey towards the UFC contract. The fighters will see the UFC training center for the first time, and will meet the coaches who will be training them over the next several weeks.

The fighters will then be taken to their new home for the duration of their stay on the show. The fighters will soon learn this is no vacation home though when their coaches wake them up early to train after a long night of partying.

Each fighter will be put through a strenuous 3-day training regimine while the coaches look on and evaluate who they'd like to select to be on their teams. For many, this is the most intense workout they have ever experienced.

After 3 days of intense training, the coaches will choose teams. This sets the stage for the competition to begin as Team Couture will take on Team Liddell in weekly competitions to eventually determine who is The Ultimate Fighter

I've been joking for a couple weeks now that this show is Rudo's idea of porno, and I'm glad to see him proving me right.

I can't wait. I may push through all of RAW this week.

It's only on once a week?

The UFC has a national training centRe? Ironically it's probably the worst place for a fighter to train, otherwise all of their champions would be coming from that gym.

I think this will be good exposure to non-fans that MMA isn't the bloodsport it was perceived to be in the past thanks to the ban and all that.

Most ultimate fighting stuff (on video and in person) I've seen was more boring than a Heidenreich/Snitsky Iron Man match, but this looks interesting and I'll give it a shot.

I just hope it doesn't turn out like boxing reality shows that aired last year.

You've gotta know what to watch when you first start out. The first UFC's are always a great starting point, just avoid Gracie/Shamrock II and Severn/Shamrock like the plague.

I don't know if putting it on after RAW is the smartest thing. To the average fan, you've just watched 2+ hours of a show where guys trade punches and body slams for 20 minutes and now here's a show where guys tap out after 30 seconds from moves that they're used to seeing as restholds in pro wrestling.

It just seems like running the shows back to back will either expose the wrestlers or make the MMA guys look like pussies to the average Marky McMarkerson.

I wonder how many fights the UFC gets out of the "six figure contract", I have to think they at least get five fights out of that.

And am I the only one thinking it is a little absurd for Bobby Southworth to be in this as he has competed in a Pride event?

Can this Tough Enough UFC show stay away from cliche reality tv drama of people being drunk in the house?

Funny you should say that... cause as soon as they got in the house, a bunch of them started to get drunk.

So much for avoiding the cliche'...

Well the Miz shouldn't have been in Tough Enough because he has been wrestling for 2 years or so.

Damn they are getting drunk on the 1st show. This is not a good sign.

Drunk and half-naked. The problem, of course, is that they're all half-naked guys. At least throw Willa Ford in there at least. It's not like her career is going anywhere (did it ever start? There was "I Wanna Be Bad", but does that even count?)

So far this is a pile of shit, count me out.

OMG that guy pissed on a pillow while he was drunk~!!!!

Is this a show about an "Ultimate Fighter" or a mixture of high school and The Real World?

I'm trying to like this but so far this has been pretty gay. Pillow fights? Running around in underwear? Peeing on each others beds? When's the fight training start?

I wonder what the 1st competition will be? I bet it will be something like Run 20 miles to get some Krispy Kreme donuts. This show needs that girl who sings that song "Goodies".

Having trouble placing Thacker's accent. I think it's Saskatchewan, but it could be Newfie. Anyone?

Jason

An alternate on the 1988 Canadian Olympics Gymnastics team, Jason lives in rural British Columbia in the small town of Whonnuck. A Vancouver Film School graduate, he has worked as an animation animator for the past six years and has worked on projects for high profile clients such as Disney and Pokemon. A lifelong fan of Bruce Lee, this 29 year-old was a county champion wrestler in high school in the 170 lb. class.

This show will be mostly about Real World bullshit.

It is picking up alittle bit, but I thought they were bringing in guys that had most of the cardio and weight training down, and needed that extra edge of tactical skill.

I guess I'm expecting something much different than what is being offered.

edit: Are they only working out once a day? Fuck man, even I know you spread the stuff out over one day. Eat a couple good meals, work out some, rest and read up on tactical stuff, maybe do some shadowboxing or push hands type training with another guy. Bleh.

Were expecting The Smashing Machine? MTV Made is better than this.

Example: Everyone should have been at or around Chris' level. That is a decently tough cardio, but only one managed to pick it up, and that was the shitty drunk guy?

Something is fishy.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I really liked it. It's hard for them to get into the training right away, since it's the first episode and they introduce everything aka some filler. The training sequences were awesome and it can only get better as the show goes on.

Randy really is a great coach, the way he was being positive yet realistic with "Strange Brew" (I don't even remember his name). Ironic that a guy who made his name on being a real life tough guy can be so nice, but a guy who made his name on looking tough has to be the biggest asshole to a bunch of trainees and go on about how he's such a badass. Of course I'm talking about Tazz.
