Chazz 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2005 Also, "Playmakers" on ESPN was cancelled after 1 Season because ESPN must not piss off The Gods of The NFL If they want their Sunday Night Football Deal to continue. Pathetic. It was a pretty easy decision to make, if you're going to fault ESPN for pulling the plug. I don't fault ESPN. I blame the thin skinned hypocrates that comprise The NFL. Big McLargeHuge 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2005 A few months. Please don't say you're naming that- that show was just a ripoff of Bernie Mac Uh, how? Even though it lasted two seasons, I thought the first season of Working (with Fred Savage) was awesome. They dropped the ball in the second, big time. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted February 6, 2005 Aeon Flux had one season? I'da sworn it was more. I've never seen a single episode, but it seemed like I was hearing about it for a long time. And it was on seemingly after every episode of Beavis and Butthead, ALWAYS no matter what time it was.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted February 6, 2005 According to TV Tome Aeon Flux had 3 seasons but only produced 16 episodes. EDIT: Also it was on that Liquid TV show or something as a short before it go it's own show.

I thought it wasn't all that great, but at least it wasn't "The Head" or "Dead at 21". Yikkkkes. I was a sucker for Roundhouse on the classic SNICK block on Nickelodeon and it only last one season, but I tend not to tell people that.

Jingus 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2005 I am terribly disappointed that this thread got to two pages, and nobody's yet mentioned The Tick. I second the nominations for Undergrads and The Maxx. Technically, I think Cowboy Bebop could count here, too. IDRM, give Aeon Flux a look sometime, it's just weird enough that you might like it, especially if you could find the creepy episode about hunting down a plague in a weird underground city with that giant mutant baby. From the vaults of syndication: The syndicated "Crow" TV show, starring Mark "Chairman Kaga" Dacascos. This was from around 4 or 5 years ago. While obviously not as good as the movie, it was a perfectly fine hour-long fantasy-drama based upon the Crow franchise, and actually did well enough in the ratings that a second season WAS greenlighted, but alas the company that produced it was bought out post-season and the new owners didn't want to bother producing new episodes. Aw HELL naw. The fucking Crow TV show?! The one where The Crow was an ORDINARY GUY who could MAGICALLY TRANSFORM into his Crow-self when he got angry, just like the Incredible Fucking Hulk?! Sheeyit. I know a girl that loves it, I think she's got some tapes. I've tried to think of an answer for this thread and I can't really do it. I barely watch tv. There were probably lots of throwaway cartoons from the 80s that I loved, but they've all kind of run together in my head. Maybe that show where John Goodman was gay. I always liked John Goodman. Think that might have had two seasons though.
Jingus 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2005 I'll put it this way: in her own self-titled show, Aeon Flux dies. A lot. With no explanation, rhyme or reason. She just gets brutally killed in about half the episodes. And her evil arch-nemesis is also her boyfriend. I've been trying to think of some older shows too, and like you said, all those cartoons from my youth all run together. I only really remember the ones I hated. Hey, wait... did Eerie Indiana run for more than one seaskn?

Mace was like the modern day Archie Bunker. good work from all involved. my guess it was cancelled from anyone of the following: A) poor ratings B) bad timeslot C) enough religious fundies bitched until they got their way D) All of the above

areacode212 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2005 Freaks and Geeks, now and forever. I'll also throw in Grosse Pointe, Max Headroom, and...Andy Richter Controls the Universe. OK, that last one technically lasted for two seasons, but S1 only consisted of 6 episodes and half of the second season went unaired. I've had the Firefly DVDs since the day they came out, but I still haven't gotten around to watching them...maybe one of these days. From a few years back: "Cupid" with Paula Marshall and Jeremy Piven. A very well-done romantic comedy about Piven, who believed that he was the earthly incarnation of the god Cupid, forced to live as a mortal man on Earth as punishment from Zeus for his troublemaking. Before he could return to Olympus he had to help 100 couples find true love. Paula Marshall played his social worker / psychiatrist (which was a punishment of her own, as I believe she was forced to be so as part of some community service requirement). The show was at times very humorous and light-hearted, but wasn't afraid to frequently delve into the dramatic. It unfortunately got stuck with horrible timeslots (the first was on Thursdays, I believe, against ER - back when ER was still good - and then shuffled to Saturday nights, where it did better, but its target audience lamentably wasn't at hope to see it), and that was that. Which is a shame, because even though the show must have debuted something like 5 years or so ago, I still remember it fondly. Yeah, Cupid was good. If you liked it, you should check out Veronica Mars, at least so that you can help it stave off Cupid's fate. It's produced by the same guy (Rob Thomas) and pretty damn good. Also, Paula Marshall is a recurring character if you're a fan.

Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2005 Tardy: "I'm not a'posed to do this!" *CRASH* "I'm scawed" "You have a canteloupe, Tardy." "Oh, I feel better now." The Singing Mailman episode was the best. Oh, and I'll add John Doe to my personal list. Even though I knew that the head bad guy was the bartender before the sixth episode, I think the show could've gotten a lot better had it gotten a new season. Guest DVD Spree Report post Posted February 7, 2005 I'll second The Crow, and add my name to the Clerks list. I also loved… was it Flying Blind? The sitcom with Tea Leoni. She was a redhead – lived a wacky, orgistic lifestyle with artists and beatnik-types, and ended up with this wacky Jewish guy who gave overlong, unpunctuated monologues all the time. She looked fucking hot.

Matt Young 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2005 I definitely agree with Clerks, Undergrads, and Clone High. Those were great. I haven't seen Firefly, but I really need to since I found out that Jewel Staite, my childhood crush of Space Cases and Flash Forward non-fame, was on the show. Every time I see a thread like this, though, I have to list Get Real. very few people have ever heard of it, but it ran on Fox for one season in late 1999- early 2000 and introduced the world to Anne Hathaway and Taryn Manning. It was a truly great show, and I'd love to see a DVD release. After Fox canceled that, I couldn't bring myself to watch another ongoing series on that channel until Point Pleasant.
