I passed my driving test!

I always hear horror stories about this but maybe im just a total dick but these driving tests aren't open heart surgery. You drive, follow the laws, turn when the instructer tells you; do a very simple Paraell parking or manuverbility routine which you shouldn't even have to pratice. I passed with a perfect score which was nice because that got me a refund from driving school.

It's a great thing to pass; so congrats but i'll never get the horror stories at all.

Well of course -- I doubt anyone would say they don't pay enough insurance.

I pay about $450/year, but I'm old and get senior discounts, unlike you young whippersnappers...

$450 a year?? Damn, what company do you have? I pay that for 6 months and I'm approaching old man status.

I'm the kind of person that needs full coverage. Plus my bank requires it for me to keep my loan for the fucker. It's something like $662 every six months. I don't even know any more. I've only had one wreck, too.

My car insurance is low, bout 65 a month.

Congrats on passing, I was lucky enough to have a driving teacher who told us if we didn't wreck the car then we pass.

Didn't wreck, got the pass.

I was paying about $56 for insurance until I got my new car, then I had to switch to full coverage and now I'm paying like $276 a month.

Mine does too, but they didn't even notice when I was driving around without insurance for a bit (long bit too, probably a good 6-8 months, and another 6 months later on.. As long as they get paid, they don't give a shit unless you get into an accident and you expect to be absolved of paying for the car or something.

I pay $108 a month for mine for 6 months, 2 months off. Student discount and all. 1999 Chevy Tracker, convertible.

Insurance is a scandal man, especially if your a 17 year old (and worse if you're a guy)

That's because you young'ins are the ones that always get into the accidents. When you get into your mid-20s your rates are supposed to drop if you have a decent record. I never noticed.

How long do tests last in the US?

The actual driving part was about 5-10 minutes. The actual wait at the DMV surrounded by the underclass -- too long to remember...

UK insurance prices are pretty steep. I paid £1150 in September on my Renault 5, but then I had only passed my test in January. Still a nightmare to afford on my lowly £5.50 p/h wage

I hate my insurance company. I have to pay a horrible amount just because I bought a new car when I was 17. 7 years later and they're still charging me like I own a new car.

Driving tests mostly depend on the individual instructor. Some will take you out for a 5-minute trip and pass you as long as you don't directly cause any accidents. Others will ride your ass for an hour while looking for any possible excuse to fail you. It's mostly just luck.
