Guest bigm350 Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 What the topic says. My alltime favorite is the belt in my avatar; the Big Gold. My second choice is probably the WWF Winged Eagle belt, and my third choice is probably the NWA Domed Globe belt of the seventies-early eighties. What can I say? I'm an old school belt mark. Today's belts and designs have nothing on the old school, classic belts, IMO. Edit: I accidently posted this in the WWE forum, if need be, move it to General Wrestling, thanks.
Guest bigm350 Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 The winged Eagle belt for sure. I like the Winged Eagle also. The only problem I had with it was it was so small to be considered a World Title. I still think it was a beautiful belt, though.
Epic Reine Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 The gold strap IC title that Goldust used. That shit was beautiful.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 I liked the 80's-90's version of the IWGP Title belt. Also a fan of the pre-Gold Belt NWA Title belt.
razazteca Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 The red US tag team belts of NWA/WCW.
Guest sek69 Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 Some of my favorites: NWA US Tag NWA US WWF IC 86-98 version (the colored straps were pretty gay though) NWA Tag circa 85 or so, they loooked like mini versions of the Big Gold Belt. I liked the style the NWA TV belt had before every indy fed in the world copied it for their title. I'm also kind of partial to the WWF title belt as it looked when Hogan first won it. I liked how they had the names of past champs on little plates across the strap like the Stanley Cup.
JMFabiano524 Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 Basically EVERYTHING used by NWA/JCP in 1988. That was the perfect collection of belts IMO. Other favorites... Hogan '86 The Winged Eagle I-C from 1985-98 (especially when it was refurbished in 1988) GWF North American (modified Hogan '86)...pretty much all the GWF's belts, actually...at least by early '92 when they also got that nice new TV title...wish someone had a picture of it. And then they had to owe money to quitting champions and were left with the tag belts to represent all the titles. WCW World 1991-94 WCW World tag 1991-97 or 98? AWA World 1986-90 AWA World Tag late '80s
tbondrage99 Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 #1 Big Gold #2 The Winged Eagle #3 The IC (Current)
haws bah gawd Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 #1 - Attitude-Era WWF World Title - I have the deluxe replica of it, and its the best looking belt I own, and the one I am proudest to show off. #2 - WCW United States Championship - the version used until it was merged with the WWF Intercontinental title. It was a little on the small-side, but no company has yet to produce a better looking US title. #3 - Pre-Attitude-Era Intercontinental Title - It was a lot bigger than the world title used at the time, and just LOOKED like it was an important title. This is what a lot of belts lack now. The white version used by Warrior, HBK, and maybe a couple others is one of the classiest titles ever. #4 - WCW BIG GOLD - Huge belt that also LOOKED important. It had a lot of work put into the etchings on the plates. My one and only complaint was that maybe it was a little TOO big. It still looked huge even when the fucking Giant wore it in mid-'96. #5 - WCW Television Title - This was more of what I would have invisioned the WCW World Title to look like. It was basically a smaller version of the BIG GOLD, and looked pretty damn slick. Not too big, not too small.
LessonInMachismo Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 The Attitude era belt. I bought it for a reason. The Steamboat/Honky/Hart/etc. IC title. I liked a lot of the wrestlers who wore it. For whatever reason, it looked important, as someone mentioned before. I hated its successor. Also the tag team titles from that era and for the same reasons. What can I say, I am a WWF mark.
Taker666 Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 WCW/Raw World Heavyweight Title (The WWE version is the best one IMO) WWF Early 90s World Championship Raw World Tag Team Championship SmackDown! WWE Championship( Am I the only one that likes this belt?) Early 90s Intercontinental Championship (althought the colored straps made the belt look like shit) WCW United States Championship WWE Unted States Championship
Art Sandusky Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 Cena's spinner US Title belt. Seriously.
Precious Roy Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 IC Title, before it became what it is now
Dobbs 3K Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 Yeah, I hate the current IC belt. The old version from the late '80s/early-mid '90s was much more prestigous looking, IMO. I also liked the WCW World Tag Team belts they had from about 1998 onward...I thought those looked cool.
Si82 Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 The pre-attitude version of the WWF Intercontinental Championship. It just looks awesome, important, like it actually means something to hold it.
Guest Trivia247 Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 I actually like that Oval IC belt. the IC belt of old seem a bit generic looking. the winged world title was also cool looking. the Big gold belt of NWA/WCW fame made the Champion look so Legit....... at least back then I liked that they stuck with the WWF World tag team design basically from Wm1 on up to somewhat recent times. the Smackdown world tag titles was the same design just blue lettering.

I also liked the WCW World Tag Team belts they had from about 1998 onward...I thought those looked cool. Actually, they were early 1999, when WCW had that tag team tourney to restart the tag team division. Hot damn we had some good tag team wrestliing during that time. I WAS going to list those belts, but after reviewing them, they look to WWF-ish. Not that that is a bad thing, but they didn't look like they belonged in WCW. Nice pics, eiker. I love my Attitude WWF title belt. A question...I remember seeing fans holding up big gold belts in the crowd in 1999. The problems is that they looked shiny and big gold was never shiny. Were these actual official replicas or some knockoff? I remember magazines would have ads for the replicas, but they were in black and white.
LessonInMachismo Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 Speaking of ugly belts, can anybody tell me the name of this belt? This isn't trivia...I really don't know. An indy wrestler from Florida who is a big puro mark once told me that the belt is "a piece of shit."
Open the Muggy Gate Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 Here's an ugly belt... Is that shovel and crutch on both sides? Oh my God that sucks!
Guest Trivia247 Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 the cruiserweight tag title belts had to be the ugliest belts I saw... first they look like two slightly smaller repilica Big Gold world title belts..... so they engulfed Romeo's and Skipper's stomachs. and another the tint of the "gold" looks green.. Green Gold CW belts... eww
ChrisMWaters Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 Here's an ugly belt... Is that shovel and crutch on both sides? Oh my God that sucks! Yes, they are. At least the WWF Hardcore Title belt fit better than the WCW one.

An indy wrestler from Florida who is a big puro mark once told me that the belt is "a piece of shit." It looks a lot like a white leathered version of the Stampede North American title from Canada. His first ever title was the Canadian Hvywt. Title for a company called Rocky Mountain Wrestling (Jan 29, 1993 - From Biff Wellington, Calgary, AB, Canada), so I wouldn't be surprised if that's what it was. Just a guess . . .
LessonInMachismo Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 Thanks, res. I have another question: In The Death of WCW, they mentioned that WCW used the Western States Heritage title when Flair kept the big gold. Why didn't they simply have a new one made?

Why didn't they simply have a new one made? They didn't have time. Flair left on July 2nd, and the GAB was two days later.

Even so, seems like they'd have a backup.

I have another question: In The Death of WCW, they mentioned that WCW used the Western States Heritage title when Flair kept the big gold. Why didn't they simply have a new one made? Actually . . . . . It's a common misnomer that the belt used was the Western States belt. It was actually the PWF title from Dusty Rhodes' fed in Florida Here's a link to a pic of Luger with said belt, also holding the US belt (before he officially gave it up). The Western States belt had a picture of, well, the Western States on it. The belt used as the "new" WCW belt for a short time has a globe on the front, and it's actually Dusty's PWF strap from a couple of years before. And here's the belt that was made as the permanent one shortly after Flair left: The WCW title from August '91 through July '94 OK, I'll shut up now and quit correcting people. No one likes a busybody.
