Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted February 28, 2005 Like the question in the sports folder. Led Zeppelin-Stairway to Heaven. Elvis Presley-Jailhouse Rock. Elvis is a difficult example, really. The guy was nothing but hit after hit. I think he's a case where everyone would give a different reply. I think "All Shook Up" or "Heartbreak Hotel," personally. Perfxion 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2005 With Biggy, I think people will think Juicy more, since that was his first hit and in NY everyone was saying the line "Time to get paid, blow up like the World Trade" up until 911. LL - I need Love Run DMC/Aerosmith - Walk this way Eminem - Stan Luther - Never Too Much Selena - I could Fall In Love Rick James - Super Freak Temptations - My Girl New Edition - Candy Girl/If It isn't Love Here is the question what about artist like Janet Jackson, MIchael Jackson, Madonna, Elvis, and Prince. These artist have so many hits and so many known songs that what is there key song? My Guess: Elvis - Heartbreak Hotel Michael - Thriller(video), Black or White(last Michael level hit) Janet - Control Madonna - Like a Virgin(early career)/Ray of Light (later career)
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2005 For LL, I'd choose either Going Back to Cali or I'm the Type of Guy over I Need Love, but that might just be me. For Eminem, I'd think it'd be Hi, My Name Is.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted February 28, 2005 Eminem's would probably be "Lose Yourself." I say this as someone who doesn't care for Eminem, and notices when every 19-22 white rural alpha male in the warehouse is listening to that song. Eminem or Godsmack. B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2005 Honestly, I'd go with "I'm Gonna Knock You Out" for LL. It was probably his biggest hit, though as a song it's inferior to "Radio", "I Need a Beat", and even "I Need Love." Personally, I love "Big Ol' BUTT." Prince: "1999" The Clash: "Rock the Casbah" or "Train in Vain" Madonna: "Like a Prayer" Michael Jackson: "Billie Jean" Pearl Jam: "Jeremy" Van Halen: "Jump" Van Hagar: "Right Now"

Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2005 Actually, PlatinumBoy, I'd say "Walk" would be more of Pantera's signature song, though "Cowboys From Hell" is close, as is "Cemetery Gates." Iron Maiden - "Hallowed Be Thy Name" System Of A Down - "Chop Suey!" Disturbed - "Down With The Sickness" The Misfits - "Last Caress" or "Die, Die My Darling" The Offspring - "Self Esteem" (though maybe "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)" could be looked at as their signature song, but it sucks) The Who - "My Generation" Slipknot - "Wait And Bleed" Mudvayne - "Dig" Cannibal Corpse - "Hammer Smashed Face" Nile - "Unas Slayer of the Gods" The Scorpions - "Rock You Like A Hurricane" Stuck Mojo - "Rising" (only "hit" they ever had) Black Label Society - "Stillborn"

DMann2003 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2005 See can anyone really say The Beatles have a "signature" song- I mean a song that when you play it you can say "this sums up who they were musically" Cause sure bands go through different phases and styles sometimes, but it's pretty easy to say, even 40 years later, that "Satisfaction" stands out as a classic examp-le of who the Rolling Stones were. Or that "My Generation" exemplifies The Who (though I'd make a case for "Won't Get Fooled Again") But The Beatles?, do you go with their 62-64 beautifully crafted 2-3 minute teen pop songs, their 65-67 branching out experimentation culminating in Sgt. Pepper? Or their 68-70 finding themselves splitting in 4 different ways, emerging as solo artists while still a "band"? It's very hard I think to point to 1 song and say- yep that's what The Beatles were all about- She Loves You A Hard Day's Night Ticket to Ride Yesterday Strawberry Fields Forever A Day in the Life Hey Jude Get Back Let it Be Come Together I mean, that's just scratching the surface. I think it's hard enough to try and sum up a band with one song, but some bands were able to craft that 1 (or 2) songs that identified them and their style past present and future, for better or worse. Does any one song the Beatles did achieve that? They changed and evolved so much, it's hard to say. Of course, I'd go with "Good Vibrations" for The Beach Boys myself.
