Best Ever Velocity/Heat Matches

What were some of the best matches that happened on Velocity and Heat (or Metal, or Jakked, or whatever) that have been forgotten simply because they were on a B-show that hardly anyone watched?

I remember one great Metal match in 2002 that smoked every other A-show match that week: Perry Saturn vs Paul London. It was the first time I'd seen London wrestle but he stood out, despite losing, and I made sure to remember the name.

Can anyone name any other specific B-show classics?

We only just started getting the two shows, but if I had to estimate, I'd go with a Jerry Lynn match from early 2001 in his stint with the company. Not sure who he faced around that time, but I'm willing to bet that they were very high quality matches.

Perry Saturn vs HHH from late 2000 was pretty good

RVD vs Jerry Lynn just after the invasion

Chris Daniels vs Jerry Lynn was ace

Pitbulls vs Headbangers was cool

Any links to these matches would be much appreciated!

The Akio/London series on Velocity were full of great matches

I seem to remember an enjoyable Orton/Venis IC Title Match on Heat last year.

Of course, there's the trio (or more) of matches between London and Akio that culminated in "Tokyo".

Sidenote: I always liked the way Jakked and Metal were run. Metal would have the main event match at the end while Jakked, which was aired on Saturday nights, would run the card in the opposite order putting the main event at the beginning.

Here you go mate.

Daniels vs. Lynn (WWF Metal 26/05/01)

I seem to remember the first ever match on Velocity was Tajiri/Kidman, and it was rather good. I also really enjoyed Venis/Flair from earlier this year, and the London/Noble match with the reversed Northern Lights - Paydirt finish.

That was a great match, thanks for the d/l. Daniels got a lot of offence in there for a match against a champion, he even got to hit the Best Moonsault Ever, which was a little surprising.

London/Akio had 4 good matches over the last 5 months (3 of them in the last 2 months). Orton/Venis has been mentioned.

That's all I can think of lately.

Edit: Just remembered two Jericho/Richards matches from last Fall that were pretty good. Jericho actually made Stevie look like a threat.

There was a really good Paul London / Matt Hardy match shortly before London signed. He kicked out of a Twist of Fate and did the London Calling. Matt needed to do a top rope Twist of Fate to get the win. It seemed very odd to give an unsigned wrestler such a good match.

RVD/Storm was one of my most enjoyable RVD matches. There was good psychology in this match with Storm working on Rob's leg. I can't remember the details precisely but I did like how Rob sold the leg work.

D'Lo/Raven was another that I liked. I don't recall how good the match itself was but the build towards it was great. It put a big match feel on a show that never has any build or big matches.

I can't remember who he faced but Sean O'Haire had a Velocity match that I really liked. It was a crap squash, but he hit his opponent with a number of stiff sounding kicks that had the crowd popping on each one. He finished him off in awesome fashion with the Burning Hammer variation that he was using for a while.

RVD/Storm was pretty good as was HHH/Taka. I think it was Taka...

HHH vs Taka was on Raw.

I love the Saturday shows, they've provided so many little hidden gems over the years. And since they use so many random indy workers as jobbers, at some point during most months I can get that special starfucker feeling of "hey, I know that guy on TV!"

Triple H's most recent Heat appearence (about a year ago, maybe more) was versus Maven, and I think it was pretty competitive (not to be confused with the RAW match the night after Survivor Series.

However, before that... I can't name one time since 1999 Triple H has been on Heat.

My favorite Sunday Night HeAT match was:

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin Vs. WWF European Champion D'Lo Brown from like...late 1998.

Austin annihilates D'Lo and pins him after a Stunner. Never announced as a non-title match. But since everyone knew the outcome, they just showed how valuable the title was and let D'Lo keep it.

Well there was that match vs Saturn that I really want to get hold of from September/October 00 (HHH wrestled as a face)- other than that though, probably not....

HHH wrestled Holly on the June 13, 2000 edition of Heat:

From Cawthon's site:

Hardcore Holly fought WWF World Champion Triple H (w/ Stephanie McMahon) to a no contest after Chris Jericho interfered and hit both men with the world title belt

The Saturn match was on the October 3, 2000 Heat(with Stephanie hosting the live version from WWF NY)

Triple H pinned Perry Saturn with the Pedigree

I used to love watching Metal too see all the indy guys i read about in the Apter mags. I remeber seeing Low Ki vs Raven and Ki getting a buncha stuff in.

Shotgun once had a GoldDust/Patriot vs Bulldog/Neidhart match on around November of 97. Those 4 were all uppercarders and Shotgun by that point was exclusively for Low carders and squashes, so that match came as a surprise to me.
