Pegasus Kid Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 I think the best moment was the very end when they did the stereo handstand over the ropes. I couldn't help but keep this goofy smile on my face when that happened.
Styles Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Marty was looking real good out there. How old is he now? If he has a good match with Angle too I think WWE should def. give him a contract. Give them a good veteran hand to work the midcard on Smackdown or something...
genius33 Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 footage from the rockers reuniion now on wwe.com The Rockers Reunite
CanadianChick Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 I've gotta say, Marty looks really good. Hell, he looks better than he did 10 years ago. Good for him to turn his life around.
Enigma Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Throw my name in the hat for The Rockers going for the tag titles.
cawthon777 Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 It was weird hearing JR refer to them as former AWA tag champs. You know they SHOULD have held the WWF belts at least once, and from the sound of it JR feels the same way They would have, but they got ran over by the incoming Legion of Doom who stole their spots. Then they broke up soon after. If not for LOD, they probably would have been the ones to beat the Nasty Boys. Eh, I think the only reason the Nastys got the belts at all was to drop them to the LOD. Now if it had gone Harts - Rockers - Power and Glory - LOD ... that would have been interesting. Is anyone else thinking Marty might make an appearance at WrestleMania?
Precious Roy Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Marty running in on that match and turning on HBK would be CLASSIC
Guest JMA Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 This was definitely a mark-out Raw for me. Seeing the Rockers tag again for just one match is one of those moments that make it great to be a wrestling fan. Making Marty look strong on Raw was also a great way to get viewers to watch Smackdown (I know I'll be watching). As for the Rockers winning the tag titles on Raw, I'd be all for it. WWE is in desperate need of some decent tag teams at the moment. Marty HAS to keep his eighties outfit, though.
Guest Trivia247 Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 at the very least... . if the WWE can give Viscera of all people a third chance they can damn well jolly well give Marty a Second chance
Precious Roy Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 they can damn well jolly well give Marty a Second chance More like 4th chance
IWD Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Marty was looking real good out there. How old is he now? Marty is 45. Shawn is 39. Cheers.
Team Angle Pusher Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 They just NEED to sign Marty because he's still better then half the roster. I just had a great idea. Let HBK go to Smackdown! with the draft, Marty signs a contract on SD!. HBK stays singles wrestler and chases after the WWE Title, Marty starts a tag team with PAUL LONDON. They have the same outfit and London could easily be a "Rocker". They could even make a stable out of HBK, Marty and London. Great idea or what?
CBright7831 Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Of all nights for The Rockers and Jake Roberts to show up, they had do it the night that I worked. Fuckers.
ChrisMWaters Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 I still want Marty to throw HBK throw a window as revenge for some reason. Speaking of Marty's past though...I remember him being in ECW for a short time...how long was that for?
Guest Loss Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Just for a few shows in '95. I'm expecting Marty to turn on Shawn either before Wrestlemania or at Wrestlemania, leaving them to feud for the next few months in what should be fun, even if it serves no purpose.
ChrisMWaters Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Just for a few shows in '95. Thought so. Remember seeing him in a battle royal in an outside ECW event that ended with Mikey Whipwreck winning a shot at the World Title, IIRC.
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Marty and Al Snow reunite as the New Rockers! or Marty, Al and Scotty 2 Hotty form JOB Squad 2.0 /shuts up
nl5xsk1 Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 I'm expecting Marty to turn on Shawn either before Wrestlemania or at Wrestlemania, leaving them to feud for the next few months in what should be fun, even if it serves no purpose. That's exactly the first thing that I thought of, too. It'd be a sweet way to use Michaels in a high profile feud without having him go over people 10 years younger than him.
WrestlingFan4Ever Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Does anyone have a copy of this past Monday's Raw? I would be willing to pay by any method preferred, including PayPal. I need to see the Rockers. Thanks. E-mail me at [email protected].

I'm expecting Marty to turn on Shawn either before Wrestlemania or at Wrestlemania, leaving them to feud for the next few months in what should be fun, even if it serves no purpose. That's a great idea, but do it after the match. Have Michaels beat Angle cleanly (especially if Angle's health is as bad as everyone says it is), Jannetty (who was banged up a bit say, from an earlier beatdown a couple weeks back from Angle) come out to congratulate Michaels, and then, POW!, superkick on Michaels when he's not looking. Another nice part is while Michaels-Angle may be a good match, it's doubtful it'll be a MOTY given the weaknesses of both guys, so you have no risk of a post-match angle overshadowing a greatest match of all-time. Similar to WrestleWar '89 actually (and no, that wasn't the best Flair-Steamboat match). Too bad Al Snow's retired. Otherwise Shawn could really wrestle matches like it's 1996 again.

Man.. like two or three days ago I just joined an efed as Marty Jannetty and Paul London - The New Age Rockers... LOL.... I would love that idea... I thought Marty was 43 by the way?
cabbageboy Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 I thought the best Flair/Steamboat match was the Clash 2/3 falls, although it had a slightly silly finish to the 3rd fall. Anyway, yeah the Rockers kinda got dicked by the WWF back in the day due to LOD coming in. Basically I think some of it had to do with an incident no one has mentioned. I do believe that Jannetty crippled some prelim jobber (Chuck Austin) with the Rocker Dropper and while I think it was found the guy didn't take the move properly stuff like that can't be good for Jannetty's career. Kind of like the D'Lo/Droz deal, you know? I guess when I saw the Midnight Rockers on Memphis in the late 80s they were on loan from the AWA or something?
Guest Loss Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Actually, they were in Memphis because they had burned their bridges everywhere else. Memphis would employ anyone, to a point where it became a joke after a while. They burned their bridge with Gagne in the AWA basically and were fired by Vince, so they were mostly working spot shows in Alabama and Memphis until Vince picked them back up in June of 1988.
Guest Loss Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 I wonder if Shawn has ever come out and admitted that he lied to Vince and told him Marty was going to WCW, but that he wanted to stay. That was how Shawn scored his singles push anyway. Marty was NOT negotiating with WCW, so basically Shawn fucked him over. Michaels and Jannetty had a tumultuous relationship by 1990 or so. I remember them showing up for a TV taping in 1990 both banged up with black eyes because they'd gotten into a fistfight the night before.

Kind of like the D'Lo/Droz deal, you know? Despite the huge settlement the WWF ended up paying, Marty was used pretty well after that so I'm not sure to what extent that effected his career. I think his problems with drugs and that house arrest after the Barber Shop incident probably hurt his career more than the Rocker Dropper from Hell. I'm still waiting for the crowd to start up a "Break his neck" chant for Marty, kinda like what Owen got in Montreal.
Guest fanofcoils Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Why did the house arrest of Jannety occur? Drugs?
Guest LooneyTune Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Jannetty got busted with I believe cocaine in his jacket pocket during a little scuffle with the cops (I believe they were busting someone else at the time, and he jumped in). This lead to his absence from March through October 1992. He had returned from the "Barber Shop Inicident" right after the Rumble, but then vanished because of that. Jannetty has been on bad terms really with management since then, resulting in being fired after the 1993 Rumble (I heard HBK was responsible for this), again before Wrestlemania X (probably drugs again), then was back on the wagon in the summer of 1996, and released for the final time a few weeks after the 1996 Survivor Series.
cabbageboy Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Man, I don't recall half of this shit about Jannetty. Heh, guess I'm not up on my history of WWF hasbeens as much as I should be. The house arrest thing makes sense though because it led to the WWF not following up on a surefire angle with Jannetty coming back to take out Shawn for putting him through the barbershop window. Instead it took another year really for that feud to start up and by that time it lost a little bit of the heat it would have had. If they want to keep Jannetty around they outta do a piece on Raw or a PPV explaining who he is to newer fans. I imagine even most new fans know Shawn was in a tag team called the Rockers but may not know much about his partner. It's funny but I recall seeing Jannetty's WWF return in Oct. 92 (I assume from that house arrest). When I heard the music I marked out big time, my friend Chris turned and in unison we were like "IT'S MARTY JANNETTY!!!" Come to think of it I also marked out big when he beat Shawn for the IC title on Raw in 93. Dammit, Jannetty rules.
Enigma Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 Both Jannetty and Michaels seem to have gotten wiser with age. Good for both of them.
