Angel_Grace_Blue Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Just wondering, after watching Soylent Green last night, what are the most commonly known spoilers/spoilers people know without watching the movie. I'd say that "SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!" qualifies, among others.
Black Lushus Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 the most obvious is Vader being Luke's father...
godthedog Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 the shower scene in 'psycho', easily. nothing else even comes close. runner-up: darth vader being luke's father lots of people would probably count rosebud, but i don't think it's THAT well-known. if you stop a random person on the street, they probably wouldn't know what it is, and when i watched 'kane' for the first time i didn't know.
Kahran Ramsus Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 "You maniacs! You blew it up! Damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
Nighthawk Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Well, for tv I'd think it being a cookbook in the TZ is up there. Psycho's surprise ending is nearly as well known as the shower scene.
Nighthawk Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Yeah, every sports movie. I loved it in Kingpin when he lost to Big Ern, didn't see that one coming. I think I like that movie even more than Big Lebowski.
Spaceman Spiff Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Bruce Willis is dead in "Sixth Sense".
2GOLD Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Bruce Willis is dead in "Sixth Sense". But OMG IT WAS SHOCKING! How anyone didn't figure that out five minutes into the movie still baffles me. Tom Hanks dies in Philadelphia is the only well-known one not listed.
Nighthawk Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 I honestly never guessed that Bruce Willis was dead. I don't know what happened, I'm usually good at picking stuff like that up. I knew the ending of The Others quite literally five minutes into it, and I watched that on a recommendation without seeing so much as a trailer or knowing anything about it. My record is Unbreakable which I guessed about two seconds in. The opening card about comic books gave it away. It's still the only M. Night movie I particularly like.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 I got the Sixth Sense right away, but I didn't know about Rosebud -- I'm pathetic...
Nighthawk Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Oh, I watched Identity a couple days ago. Guessed the first twist during the opening credits there. Was off on the second twist. I rather liked it anyway. Speaking of the double twist, you know what movie is good? Devil's Advocate. Pacino was chewing up scenery and shitting it out. Keanu Reeves is probably the worst actor who still manages to be in a majority of movies I like. I'm not sure if the end of that is well known or not.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 I saw it -- I don't think it's as well-known as other movies here...
Guest Askewniverse Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Rocky II, III, IV, and V - Rocky wins the final fight.
Mole Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 William Wallace dies. Frodo destroys the ring. Neo is the One.
CBright7831 Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 JAWS Brody throws an air tank into the shark's mouth, and moments later, shoots the tank, causing the shark to explode.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Yeah, every sports movie. I loved it in Kingpin when he lost to Big Ern, didn't see that one coming. I think I like that movie even more than Big Lebowski. Eh, American audiences almost always pull for the underdog. Otherwise, why make the journey if they're only going to lose? That's why they changed the ending of Dodgeball, test audiences hated it.
nl5xsk1 Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Debbie doesn't really Do Dallas ... she just whores around for a while and then sleeps with her boss.
Taker666 Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 The Killer was in the room the whole time!!! what movie is this from?
Mole Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Yeah, every sports movie. I loved it in Kingpin when he lost to Big Ern, didn't see that one coming. Without spoiling the real ending for anyone who didn't see it, I'd say it was probably the exact opposite.

nl5xsk1 Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Debbie doesn't really Do Dallas ... she just whores around for a while and then sleeps with her boss. I love that movie. The first porno I ever owned was the Original Debbie trilogy, all copied onto one tape. The only thing that sucked was that they were taped 1, then 3, then 2, so I had to FF through the middle third to watch the trilogy in order. And, yes, I too love(d) that movie. Haven't seen any of the new generation ones, though, so can't comment on those.
Nighthawk Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 It's about the only porn I can watch all the way through for it's non stroke merits. Maybe Taboo. I've never seen the other ones, nor the new ones actually.
Vern Gagne Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Raiders of the Lost Ark ending is pretty well known, with the Nazi guys face melting.
