DerangedHermit Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/story/8316952 SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Barry Bonds said he might miss the rest of this season following his latest knee surgery. "I have a lot of work to do to try to get back, maybe next season, maybe by midseason," he said Tuesday after meeting with San Francisco Giants trainer Stan Conte for 1½ hours. The Giants continue to hope it will be much sooner that the seven-time NL MVP is back on the field. AP NEWS The Associated Press News Service
Guest LooneyTune Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Can you say "Dodging the Bullet"?
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Thank god. He might not get the record after all.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Better yet, he won't get a World Series ring. Wonder if his baseball cap will fit on him next season, or will it be too big for him?...
Guest LooneyTune Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Barry Bonds: I lost my smile... (shoots up on his way out)
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 predicted Giants wins: 63
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 The Giants might get 70 wins. I say Bonds comes back looking more like he did in the 80s.
NoCalMike Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 So does this mean he won't get tested while not playing?
Crimson Platypus Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Like Dama said, how bad of an injury do you have to have to be talking about this entire season and half of next?? Something is fishy here...
Precious Roy Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 There's gonna be a LOT of pissed off fantasy owners. I'm glad I stayed away from him, waaay too risky
DerangedHermit Posted March 22, 2005 Author Report Posted March 22, 2005 Like Dama said, how bad of an injury do you have to have to be talking about this entire season and half of next?? Something is fishy here... The IRS is going to be on his ass soon...he may have committed tax evasion (by not declaring money, about $80K, from autograph signings and buying his girlfriend a house in AZ with that $$$)
The Czech Republic Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 So what do we call the San Francisco Barry Bonds when Barry Bonds isn't on the team?
DerangedHermit Posted March 22, 2005 Author Report Posted March 22, 2005 So what do we call the San Francisco Barry Bonds when Barry Bonds isn't on the team? The San Fran Cellar Dwellers?
The Czech Republic Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 I can't wait to see what the SF fans think of Alou's patented basepath magic. EDIT: It's fun to say "Who's your Moises NOW?" in your best Edward G. Robinson voice. I mention this because The Ten Commandments was on ABC the other night.
Vyce Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Ahem. Sometimes only pictures can adequately express one's words on a matter. Therefore:
nl5xsk1 Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 I wonder if this is all just an elaborate scheme to avoid any repurcussions from the steroid scandal ... maybe MLB suggested he take the year off to circumvent a suspension or something. Hey, I'm not a conspiracy theorist or anything, but there's been rumors that the NBA did that for Jordan, to allow him to avoid a gambling scandal. Why wouldn't MLB do the same for their golden child?
Precious Roy Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 We can see another NL MVP for a change RAUL MONDESI!
Lightning Flik Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 There is no way Bonds got injuried so badly he needs nearly two seasons to heal. He's being off for a year so that no one nails him on the steroids bit. This just kills my fantasy team as I went out of my way to aquire him and I gave up Halladay for him. I'm so not impressed about that.
Guest LooneyTune Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 We can see another NL MVP for a change RAUL MONDESI! Who was dumb enough to sign him?
Sass Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Nice. It looks like the Dodgers and the Padres will be duking it out for 1st in the West this season. The Giants guys have gotta be a little peeved right now since Bonds was the majority of their offense. Bummer for San Francisco.
Guest Wart Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 This just kills my fantasy team as I went out of my way to aquire him and I gave up Halladay for him. I'm so not impressed about that. Well I'm satisfied. Actually, I've got tickets to a Giants/Astros game in May, so I'd be disappointed if he doesn't play.

How much money will he have to pay in penalty?

iggymcfly Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 If you listen to the interview, I swear to god he's blaming his injury on the media.

I'm so not impressed about that. Well I'm satisfied. Well of course your happy, you just fucked me over in that trade. Hard. Oh well, I've got a suitable lineup that I can live without Bonds. Would've been better with him in it, but oh well... Seriously though, I think he's just going to be gone for half the season. I mean, it is Bonds we are talking about so this probably is the worst case scenario.
CanadianGuitarist Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 A little unfair Vyce. That should be the world's smallest violin. Yes, he blamed his injury on the media. Not outright, but as a member of the media, I hate him. Bastard. Fuck him. Imagine how his fellow Giants feel. I'm glad San Fran never became the Toronto Giants as planned in 1975, I'd hate to have him represent my country. Yes, I'm ashamed of Ben Johnson and Brett Hull. Just humour me.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Wait? How did he blame the media? Did you hire someone to club him in the knee with a crowbar or something?
