New Audioslave Album?

Recommended Posts

The other night I was listening to the radio and a new single from Audioslave came on but the dj didn't say anything about a album being relased. Has anyone heard anything by chance?

Audioslave look to have set "Out Of Exile" as the title to their upcoming new album which is now slated for a May 24th release date through Interscope. In other news, the band have recruited Jonny Polonsky to open for them on their upcoming North American run

I really dont care too much for the new single, but maybe it will grow on me. By the end of May when the album is released, I will probably be sick and tired of hearing it since our local rock station is making it a point to play it twice an hour. Hopefully there are some Rage-sounding songs, similar to Cochise, on the new album.

Exactly Lushus. The first Audioslave album had a lot of stuff that was released, but most of it seemed like a band's 3rd or 4th singles off an album just released to keep the band's name out there, rather than anything that urgently cried out "This is a single."

Chris Cornell is always worthwhile, but compare Audioslave stuff to Temple of the Dog or early Soundgarden. The man is soooo cashing the paycheck.

I'm going to their show tonight, so hopefully their new CD is kickass, since I'm assuming they'll be playing alot off of that.

Vocally, Temple of the Dog is the greatest thing Cornell has ever done.

They played some stuff off of the new album last night, I can't remeber the titles but they were pretty good. It was great to see them bust out some Soundgarden/Rage last night.

Hey, Audioslave's fucking awesome. There's nothing blah about them at all. Their whole last record was tremendous, and this might be the first CD I actually buy in quite a while.

Well, if there's one thing they need to do on the next album it's come up with a more cohesive sound. On that 1st album I couldn't shake the feeling that it was basically Chris Cornell guesting on a Rage CD, rather than a new band all together. Oddly I had no such trouble with Velvet Revolver. It was the same sound as RATM, but with Cornell's vocals added. Compare that to Cornell playing with the Pearl Jam guys on Temple of the Dog and notice how cohesive that sounded (though musically PJ and Soundgarden are more similar than Soundgarden and Rage).

I agree on TOTD being Cornell's best moment, mainly because he was trying uber hard due to it being a tribute album for his dead pal Andrew Wood. Compare stuff like "Say Hello to Heaven" to Audioslave stuff like "I am the Highway" and it's jarring to see how much he cared then and how much less he seems to care now.

Change it to "Call Me a Dog" and I agree.

Agent pretty much summed it up with the 'Good in theory but not in execution' tag. I have to say, looking back, it was dumb to expect they'd sound like anything other than Cornell w/ Rage, looking at both parties' later releases. I don't hate them, but their live cover of 'White Riot' was absolutely terrible.
