syxx2001 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 I remember back in 7th or 8th grade, 99 or 2000 when Parent Hood and all of the other "urban" shows came on WB and it was the station to watch. Anyone who watched the WB then would know that during one of the season finales on The Parent Hood, Robert was shot and it was "to be continued". Now, I expected it to return in the fall, but it didnt, it didnt come back on for another 6 or 12 months. And by that time I had started watching wrestling and could care less about it and anyone else who watched didnt know it had came back on. Does anyone else think the same thing could happen to Chappelle's Show? Comedy Central has delayed the debut of the new season for so long that some people could probably care less, the less die hard Dave Chappelle fans. I would hate to see it happen, but does anyone else think it could?
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Chappelle signed a $50 million deal with Comedy Central after season 2. He'll be around.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 The Parent Hood was about as urban as Friends
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Yes. Until it comes back that is. Because you know, the day after the new season starts, everyone and their mother will be at school/work quoting whatever was said on that episode of Chappelle's Show. And after word of mouth has spread, everyone will realize its back on, and it'll be like it never stopped probaly.
Guest TheDon Report post Posted April 1, 2005 The WB was the station to watch? What fucking loser High School were you going to where horrible shows like the Parenthood and gods knows what else was the in thing.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Dave said he has writer's block. He probably feels a lot of pressure and doesn't want it to suck, and I don't blame him.
syxx2001 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 I was in middle school and during that time Steve Harvey, Jamie Foxx, The Wayans and Parent Hood were the WB's Sunday Night Lineup. Or Wednesday. Either way, people, black people anyway, watched them.

Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 And Unhappily Ever After, which was a weak Married by Children rip off. I fucking loved Unhappily Ever After. I wish it was still on in syndication. It was so stupid and irreverant. The best was towards the end of the show, when they had nothing to do with Justin Berfield (who plays Reese on Malcolm in the Middle). All they did was paint him as a pathetic kid that the whole family wanted nothing to do with.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Man, I hope so. I love Dave's material, but I've never gotten too much into his show. The fact that fringe fans quote it endlessly took away a lot of its appeal, too.
Jingus 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Dave is a good comedian. Not a great one. But in these depressing and oh so politically correct times, objectively average stuff like his Rick James impression stands out just because there ain't nobody better right now. BUTT 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 I thought the Rick James thing was incredibly overrated. On the other hand, Wayne Brady pulling a drive-by was just about the funniest thing I've ever seen.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Charlie Murphy is the true star of the show.
Jingus 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Overrated indeed. Oh god, I got SO sick of hearing various Chappelle Show references at various indy wrestling shows all across TN. It was bad enough when the workers started yelling out Lil Jon catchphrases during the matches. It got even worse when they dressed like Dave for Halloween. syxx2001 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 I agree the Rick James skit was never funny. Prince was 10x funnier. Wayne Brady was hilarious. Charlie Murphy and Ashy Larry (what is this guys real name??????) are Dave's Scotty and Michael. With Dave being Phil Jackson. Its 10:30 and I dont feel like thinking of another metaphor. Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Rick James was hilarious, I guess I have the benefit of not many people annoyingly spouting the catchphrases.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted April 1, 2005 The first time I saw the Lil Jon impersonations I thought the ywere hilarious. Then everyone started with the "YEEeeeah"s and "WHAT!"s

Darthtiki 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 And Unhappily Ever After, which was a weak Married by Children rip off. But it did give us Nikki Cox who proves 40-something balding formerly overweight cult-fanbased comics can get the girl.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Chappelle went off on the crowd here in Sacramento when he came to do standup, because the ignorant fucktards in the crowd were more interested in shouting, "YEaaaaaaaaaaaaaah" "What, What, Whaaaaaat" out, then listening to the standup. I guess that is a price to pay when a single piece of your work becomes some much more well known to the general public, then people who generally enjoy all of his work. There was a big article about it the following day in the paper, and it kind of made me glad I ended up not going because I for one would have been embarrased as a fan, and felt like shit for Mr. David Chappelle. In other stand-up news, Dave Attel is coming to town in a couple of months....I could only hope he would also be filming an episode of Insomniac as well.... syxx2001 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Dave Attel is as funny as a rotting banana. And I remember the Sacramento incident.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 I for one would have been embarrased as a fan, and felt like shit for Mr. David Chappelle. I wouldn't. Hell, if you're lucky enough to make a great living by doing the same thing over and over again, just go with the flow. If it paid the bills I'd go to a stand-up event where all the crowd does is yell OMG FAUX NEWS LOL 2005! for two hours and go home with a phat paycheck and some groupies. Chappelle signed a $50 million deal with Comedy Central Comedy Central has $50 million to spend?...
Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Chapplle is a extremely funny standup guy, that Rick James bit was funnier than most anything thats been on television in a while, and the show is good. Its a shame you all let idiots make you their bitch like that. You find something funny, but let other people ruin it for you. It doesn't change the fact that its funny. Its just that YOU don't like it anymore. Lil Jon was on Rap City one day and was like "People...its been almost 2 years since that Dave Chapplle thing. Would you PLEASE stop coming up to me and yelling in my face? You aren' t the first one to say WHAT!! or OKAAY to me...its not funny." Damn I hate people that can't just let something be funny and leave it be, but I still won't let them ruin it for me.
