Taker666 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 got this little gem from the ProWrestling.com website, I'am sorry, best I can do for now... "Well I went to my first live event tv broadcast show of Smackdown. It was awesome and it looks so much differnet in person than it does on TV. I like the opening video before the show starts with "Lonely Road of Faith" By Kid Rock. The show started off with a dark match which had Frankie Karizan(Yep formerely from TNA) vs Mark Jindrak. It was a good match and I was rooting for Karizan but Jindraks won with the power of the punch. Velocity was alright I wish they would've added the Karizan match on Velocity. Smackdown kicked it off with JBL who I cheered for while other fans boo him. I took a sign that said "Welcome Back Rey" and Rey Mysterio got big pops but not as big as Cena. I got bad news while I was at the event Cena cut a promo saying that the WWE title will most likely have spinners now so soon he is going to change it! That sucks! I booed Cena during his promos and told him "YOU SUCK!" then I had 6-10 yr old Chain Gang kids telling me "You Suck! Cena doesn't suck!". I told them Cena sucks and Kurt Angle is better but what do they know? at the 6-10yr old Chain Gang kids that told me "If Cena sucks then why did Angle beat him at No Way Out?" guess they don't know the truth about wrestling. My favorite wrestler The Undertaker wasn't there that sucked I really wanted to see him in person that was the only thing that I was dispointted about. Paul London was there and he had a good match with Billy Kidman but not alot of people cheered for London only me and some people did. Teddy Long annouce a match for next week on SD which will be Eddie Guerrero vs JBL for the number one contenders of John Cena's WWE Championship. Besides me arugring with the Chain Gang fans and Undertaker not showing up which disappointed me cause I really wanted to see him. I had a good time and the TV show events are so much differnent from House Show events"
Guest jm29195 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 These are better, credit pwtorch:- WWE Smackdown taping report April 5, 2005 San Diego, Calif. Report by Justin "Amish Leprechaun" Smith (buzzkiller.com), PWTorch.com reader DARK MATCH (1) Mark Jindrak pinned Frankie Kazarian at 3:58. VELOCITY (1) Booker T pinned Spike Dudley at 1:53. (2) Akio pinned Funaki at 5:08. (3) Heidenreich pinned Shawn ?Ellis? at 1:57. (4) Hardcore Holly & Charlie Haas over The Basham Bros. via DQ at 6:53. SMACKDOWN TAPINGS Smackdown opened with the proverbial 15 minute interview that started with JBL stating his intentions with a rematch with John Cena. This led to Eddie Guerrero interrupting to the biggest pop of the night issuing his own intentions of facing Cena. Booker T was next, followed by Big Show, Rey Mysterio, and Kurt Angle, in that order. Kurt Angle - "I was arrested Sunday night. I was arrested on charges of armed robbery. I was arrested for stealing the show!" Kurt Angle - "Okay, let's get a few things straight here. You, you, and you (pointing to Big Show, JBL, and Eddy) all LOST at WrestleMania. You (Booker T) weren't even AT Wrestlemania. And unfortunately for you (Mysterio), you must be THIS TALL in order to challenge for the title." This all led to Theodore Long declaring a "Number One Contender Championship Series" involving the six challengers to take place over the next month or so on Smackdown. Tonight would be the first match pitting JBL against Rey Mysterio, Jr. (1) Paul London © pinned Billy Kidman to retain the Cruiserweight Title at 6:55. Decent but underwhelming match that consisted of Kidman on offense for 90% of the match. London bled here and it was actually enough to warrant a change in the ring mat after the match. London won with a roll-up. Chavo Guerrero, who was a guest commentator for the match attacked London with Kidman's assistance. (2) Big Show pinned Luther Reigns at 2:13. This was set up by a Reigns promo in the back where he was making fun of Show's WrestleMania Sumo match. Match was nothing. John Cena gave a decent but done before promo declaring "The Champ is here!" a few dozen times. This was kept under ten minutes. The proverbial 10 minute Diva bikini contest. Next week, Carlito will debut his own talk show that will be "cooler than Piper's Pit" called Carlito's Cabana. (3) Kurt Angle submitted "Jose from San Diego" AT 0:36. This was the Kurt Angle Invitational Hometown Challenge. Angle revealed after the match that he would face Eddy Guerrero next week in match number two of the Number One Contender Championship Series. (4) JBL beat Rey Mysterio, Jr. via DQ at 14:11. DARK MATCH (1) John Cena & Big Show beat JBL & Orlando Jordan when Show pinned Jordan at1:53. The only match of the night to cross the two-star plateau (in my opinion, of course). This was decent enough, ending when Eddy interfered to attack JBL even though Mysterio had just hit his finisher and was in the process of the pin count. This of course was to simply fuel the fire towards the heel turn. After the match JBL, Orlando Jordan, and the Bashams beat on Eddy and Rey until John Cena made the save. This is where I presume the cameras stopped rolling. Theodore Long then came out and "treated us" to Cena & Show vs. JBL & Jordan. This only lasted 1:53 when Show pinned Jordan with a chokeslam. At this point I took off so I very well may have missed something else, possibly a Taker appearance. NOTES: Arena was pretty much soldout, bar a few scattered seats here and there... Overall the show was a typical Smackdown - not so great. The main event was decent and Akio vs. Funaki for Velocity was a fun little match. Other than that a very underwhelming night to say the least.

Tonight would be the first match pitting JBL against Rey Mysterio, Jr. SD! is gonna have one hellava month! I'am looking foward to this Paul London © pinned Billy Kidman to retain the Cruiserweight Title at 6:55. This should be a great match John Cena gave a decent but done before promo declaring "The Champ is here!" a few dozen times. This was kept under ten minutes. At least they actually gave the new Champ Mic Time. unlike over at Raw Next week, Carlito will debut his own talk show that will be "cooler than Piper's Pit" called Carlito's Cabana. AWESOME. If theres ANYONE in the WWE that deserves his own talk segment. its Carlito, this guy is gold at what he does. 4) JBL beat Rey Mysterio, Jr. via DQ at 14:11. I'am looking foward to this match. that should be fun.
RedJed 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 Just sent these off to the Observer so I thought I would post them here - it was an ok show, but not as good live as Raw overall. The crowd appeared to be sold out completely about a half hour before it started as the box office stopped selling them and the sign in front of the arena said "sold out." With that said, the crowd was pretty hot tonight and was into most of the show. Dark match - Jindrak def. Frankie Kazarian, Kazarian got a decent response and looked good in there putting off some quality spots. Velocity: Booker T squashed Spike Dudley Akio def. Funaki Heidenreich def. same jobber as last night on Heat tapings v. Masters, Chris Evans I think? Post match he gave a poem while laying Evans in the corner to read to him. Holly/Haas def. Basham Bros by DQ when one of the Bashams brought in a chair and used it on Haas. Smackdown: Opens with JBL doing close to same speech as HHH on Raw whining about losing the title, how the belt will be his again soon, etc. Out comes Eddie to a huge pop, back and forth banter about who deserves the first shot at Cena, which also brings out Booker, Show, Rey (another huge pop) and Angle to all throw their name in the hat as well. Long comes out and announces a number one contender series of matches between the six guys in the weeks to come (I would assume everyone will end up taking on each other by the time all is said and done?) and starts tonight with JBL v. Rey. London def. Kidman to retain CW title in a good 10:00+ TV match. Not sure if it was intentional or not, but London bumped hard to the floor and ended up a bloody mess, so bad Kidman was covered with alot of blood himself by the end of the match. London wins with a small package after he missed the 450 but followed up quick. Chavo was on commentary and Kidman attacked London post match when Chavo distracted him, with Kidman and Chavo both ending up laying him out. Blood on the mat was so heavy they took time to replace the canvas after the segment. Backstage angle with Rheins mocking Show losing at Mania by giving himself a wedgie and doing the "sumo strut" Show predicatably is behind him and match is set. Show squashes Rheins in about 2 minutes. Cena comes out to a monster pop and delivers a strong promo in general talking about the title win, etc, normal post-title win speech fluff but Cena did a great job with it. Makes mention that much like how the US title was "re-made" that he will do so with the WWE title. Ends up going into the crowd on the mic to finish up segment. Angle challenge to some local latino from SD, finishes him in about 30 seconds and then makes him scream in pain in the mic while in the anklelock post match. Strong heat for this since Angle was putting the taunting pretty strong on the kid and the crowd was probably 80 percent latinos. Somewhere here, Angle announces that he will be facing Eddie next week in the next contenders series match. Eddie offers to stand in Rey'd corner v. JBL but Rey insists on staying in back. Tease of heat between the two from Mania, etc. Carlito interviewed by a new announcer who announces that next week will be the first "Carlito's Cabana" akin to Piper's Pit. They have a divas bikini challenge w/ originally just Dawn, Jackie, and Torrie but then Joy, Lauren and Michelle come out to demand equal time. Torrie ends up winning. JBL def Rey Misterio by DQ when Eddie interfered. Decent match with strong comeback by Rey at the end. Probably went 12-15 minutes or so. Eddie comes out when Jordan grabs Rey's leg before he tries the 619 to help. Helps fight off Jordan and then right as Rey has JBL beat, he jumps in and pushes Rey off and goes to beat on JBL himself which calls the DQ and Rey-Eddie have some argument. Out come the Bashams post-match which brings out Cena to clean house on Cabinet to likely end the show. When cameras went off, Cena does a short speech wanting JBL and Jordan back in the ring, out comes Long to make an impromptu tag match w/ Cena/Big Show v. Jordan/JBL. Very fast match with Show chokeslamming Jordan for the win. Afterwards, Cena does a long winded speech to everyone thanking them, etc, etc. Lasted about 5-10 minutes. LOTS of Cena on the mic tonight, which isnt really a bad thing, but it got a little old. One thing I didnt get was why we got Big Show in two matches, yet no Eddie wrestling tonight. He was just about as over as Rey was, and I think alot of people were let down that he didnt work a match tonight, also the crowd did not seem to want to see any sort of subtle heel turning from Eddie, WWE take note! JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 Eddie vs. Angle next week should be fun. Carlito having a talk show type thing is a great idea as well. It's too bad they're having a big #1 contender's tournament on Smackdown when the main event for Judgment Day is already being advertised in Minnesota. But the matches should be good. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 More spoilers, essentially the same but afew more details (from WO) Dark match Mark Jindrak pinned Frankie Kazarian Velocity Booker T pinned Spike Dudley Akio pinned Funaki Heidenreich pinned Sean Evans Hardcore Holly & Charlie Haas beat Bashams via DQ when Bashams used a chair on Holly Smackdown JBL came out and wanted a rematch with Cena.Eddie Guerrero,Booker T,Big Show,Rey Misterio & Kurt Angle all came out and wanted title matches.Angle had a great line saying he was arrested after Mania for armed robbery because he stole the show.Teddy Long came out and said that JBL forgot to put a rematch clause in his contract and ordered a no.1 contender series with the first match tonight being Rey vs. JBL Paul London retained cruiserweight title over Billy Kidman London bled a good amount during the match. After the pin Chavo Guerrero, who was on commentary, and Kidman laid out London Luther Reigns was in the back making fun of Show for losing to Akebono and Show challenged him to a match Big Show pinned Reigns after a choke slam. John Cena came out and talked about his title win.It was definitely a "beginning of a new era" type of speech and he celebrated in the crowd.During the celebration security knocked over a little kid who ended up getting a front row seat because of it. Angle Invitational saw Angle make a Latin jobber tap out.His name was Jose something. Before the match Angle said he would be facing Guerrero next week in the next match of the no. 1 contender series Carlito was interviewed backstage and said he interrupted piper's pit because it was boring watching a guy in a skirt and a bald guy in daisy dukes. He said next week he would start his own show called Carlito's Cabana Rey & Eddie talked backstage and Guerrero said he didn't think Rey could beat JBL on his own and Rey said for Eddie to stay away Next up was a bikini contest with Torrie Wilson,Dawn Marie & Miss Jackie.Joy Giovanni,Lauren Jones & Michelle McCool came out and wanted to take part.Torrie was declared the winner although I think Joy got a slightly better reaction. JBL beat Rey via DQ match was good and had great heat.Orlando Jordan interfered which led to Eddie coming down and he was attacked by JBL.Rey made a comeback and had JBL pinned when Eddie threw Rey off and started attacking JBL for the dq.Bashams ran in followed by Cena to clean house. Good to see Kidman and Chavo getting along so well after their whole deal. Someone at my PPV groups Mania party mentioned that it would be neat if Carlito had a show called "Carlito's Cabana" and now it's happening. Weird.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 Since they are already hyping Cena/JBL as a rematch for JD this whole tourney thing is a horrible idea. It's obvious that they are going to have to put Bradshaw yet AGAIN over the entire roster just so he can do a meaningless job to Cena in another bad match. Hopefully once JBL jobs out again they'll finally give up on this crap. What is the overall theme on SMDN right now? There's some good individual stuff like Eddie/Rey but I don't sense an overall theme to the show. Sure people are bored with HHH but at least Raw has a theme, even if it's a bad one (HHH doing whatever he can to stay on top). Take a look on Raw and you'll find at least 3 major things: --Batista crushing everyone to prove he's a legit champ. --HHH yet again going after the guy who beat him for the title to prove it was a fluke. --Edge observing all this and waiting to cash in his title shot. What is SMDN doing right now? Rey/Eddie is amusing but ultimately has zero point because Rey can only go so far (too small to get a truly huge singles push), so unless Eddie goes heel due to this and thus goes after the title again I fail to see what this accomplishes. Angle is now back on the treadmill again, squashing jobbers. Booker has no direction as usual. Hopefully this tourney will set up some new feuds and angles for the summer, but I have a sick feeling that it will be a vehicle to put Bradshaw over. Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 More spoilers, essentially the same but afew more details (from WO) .Teddy Long came out and said that JBL forgot to put a rematch clause in his contract... So let's get this straight; the former heel champion, who made it through his reign by outfoxing and outsmarting all of his babyface challengers, somehow was stupid enough to forget to put a rematch clause in the contract of the biggest match of his career ? Top heels don't have to be geniuses, but they shouldn't be that stupid either. What is the point in these Kurt Angle invitational matches? It's to give Kurt something to do on television without taking any bumps. When it first started, it was meant to end with Angle getting challenged by Daniel Puder, playing off of what happened in TE. However, with that idea scrapped, I'm guessing they are keeping it going both due to them not wanting Angle to take any bumps that he absolutely doesn't have to, and because they either don't know how to end it, or are waiting for Smackdown to be held in the hometown of whomever it is they have picked to be the one to end it. Since they are already hyping Cena/JBL as a rematch for JD this whole tourney thing is a horrible idea. They aren't really hyping it, beyond some local advertising, and it's not new for them to hype a PPV match locally, that, to the rest of the world, hasn't been determined yet. As for why they are doing it, it's probably because they don't want to make it look like they're deliberately putting JBL in the main event, and they want it portrayed as JBL having earned his title shot. BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 Hmmm, with JBL beating Rey, and Angle facing Guerrero, I suppose we'll get Booker-Show in two weeks. I'm curious as to how they settle the # 1 contender issue after that. If its Triple threat we got four possiblities: JBL-Show-Angle (unlikely as we just saw it at the Rumble) JBL-Booker-Guerrero (The Guerrero/Mysterio feud will begin soon and I can see Rey accidently causing Eddie to lose here) JBL-Show-Guerrero (see above) JBL-Booker-Angle (Since Bradshaw's obviously going to main event Judgement Day, this could be an oppurtunity to spawn a Booker-Angle feud, something we haven't seen since the Invasion era)

"Makes mention that much like how the US title was "re-made" that he will do so with the WWE title" Cena is not that much of a big draw to have a customize WWE belt, but since the bookers are trying so hard in making him into a big superstar then they might go forward with this dumb idea. And I can't wait for Carlito's cabana next week.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 They already did a traditional #1 contender's tournament in February, so it would be nice to have this one be a "Round Robin" where everyone faces each other and earns points (2 for a clean win, 1 for a DQ/countout win, etc.). I believe the idea is that JBL was so certain he'd win like he always does, that he didnt' bother putting in the re-match clause. One of those type of deals where they don't really have to hammer it across but it's subtle and obvious excuse because The fans hopefully would know thats why he "forgot" and all JBL i guess now since even you, one of the smartest smarks out there had to point how it made so sense, needs to explain that was why he didnt put the clause.
