Stephen Joseph Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Believe it or not, it was my parents who told me about House, a medical drama of sorts on Fox. I've tuned in to watch it the last few weeks and there's something to it, maybe the bedside manner, that makes it a really enjoyable watch. Last night was all about this wife who got sick and everyone accusing the husband of cheating (including the staff). Turns out the wife did it to herself with some random guy. Not very often do you see the husband portrayed as the good guy in these dramas
The Czech Republic Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 House is one of those shows that I've seen once or twice and really enjoyed, but can never remember to tune in and watch it every week.
Placebo Effect Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 I watch Scrubs and The Office when House is on. I'd download it, but my BT connection is incredibly slow while on my wireless.
treble Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 It's a good show, but I find myself enjoying the sub-plot stuff more than the main one. They don't really do that good a job of making you care about the patient and the fact that they always 'win' kind of bugs me, too.
2GOLD Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 It's good but I've had enough with these "all doctors are heroes" shows. I want to see a show that has a high number of doctors who could care less about their patients and can't be bothered to help them unless they have a 7 digit bank account. A show full of bad doctors and maybe one good doctor would rule.
Stephen Joseph Posted April 6, 2005 Author Report Posted April 6, 2005 That's why I love this show. Dr. House has absolutely no bedside manner and doesn't pander. He's calls it like he sees it. He's arrogant, rude, insincere, callous, and always right.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Well, that's lame. Shouldn't he be wrong once in a while? Then Fox can spinoff another series -- Courtroom...
Slayer Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Well, it's lasted longer than Fox's two previous post-WS shows (i.e. "Three Girls in a Cold Heartless Man's World" and "HIS FATHER IS THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY!")
Vyce Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 I love the show. In fact, I prefer it over the latest fanboy "it" show, "Lost." The ratings for the program have steadily grown over time, too, so for once Fox looks to have an hour-long drama that isn't automatically on life support and about to be Schiavoed.
Mole Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 I watched it from the beginning, but then from the wonders of Bittorrent I downloaded Veronica Mars and got hooked. The only time I'll watch House is when VM isn't new. It is a good show though.
Ravenbomb Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Well, that's lame. Shouldn't he be wrong once in a while? Then Fox can spinoff another series -- Courtroom... He's wrong through most of the episode, and gets it right at the end (which in the show's time is sometimes weeks after the thing started)
razazteca Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 I watch Scrubs and The Office when House is on. House is Bizarro World Scrubs but this time its a drama and the tweener doctor is the hero.........FEEL THE INTENSITY!!!!1111~
Guest Frank_Nabbit Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 I thought this was going to be about David Hasselhoff's movie
razazteca Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 The Arye Gross movie about the glass skull?
Guest Brian Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 I'm into it, and I've watched something, but the format is starting to tire on me. House is really good himself, the other doctors are still on the fence for me.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 There was actually an episode where House was wrong until it was too late to do anything for the patient. They eventually figured it out in time for the bittersweet ending, but the patient did die.
NoCalMike Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 The Arye Gross movie about the glass skull? Wasn't that House 2? The original House starred the guy from the "Greatest American Hero" series.
slimm44 Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 I enjoy the show...I stopped watching the Amazing Race because of it. The guys smart-ass comments to patients and co-workers are awesome. It's already been signed for a second season which is a trend for the 2004-05 tv season, which is a good thing
TheBostonStrangler Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 House is godly. House himself is one of the best TV characters I can remember, the medical dramas are well put together (although a little formulaic), and the subplots with the other doctors, staff, and administrator (damn you, Chi McBride) are pure gold. Watch this show. It's like crack.
razazteca Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 The Arye Gross movie about the glass skull? Wasn't that House 2? The original House starred the guy from the "Greatest American Hero" series. William Katt.

AnonymousBroccoli Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 As previously mentioned, the main plot follows a pretty strict formula. I watched 3 or 4 episodes at a time to catch up, and it became obvious fairly quickly. But House the character is great, and more than makes up for the storyline faults. One thing I like is seeing actors who used to be in other Fox shows guest starring, like Leslie Hope and Sarah Clarke from 24, Dominic Purcell from John Doe, and Chi McBride from Boston Public.
Jericholic82 Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 My dad had been watching this show for awhile and one night after Idol I watched it with him, and enjoyed it. House is such a great chracter that it doesnt matter if the plot is formulaic, he is so entertaining as the wisecracking, unconventional doctor. I have only watched about the last 4 episodes but I am glad they are renewing it. And to have the new villian be the the principal from boston public is a surprise but a good one. Chi is even more convincing in this role as the evil owner (geez hed make a good heel gm on raw or sd) . Of course theyll probably cancel this once it comes on in the fall without the strong lead in of Idol. Just liek they sent Public to Friday nights to die. (and man does that piss me off, we never even got a final episode or closure of any kind for that show) offtopic a bit, but I was surprised to find out that teh actor who portrays House is British and speaks with a thick British accent. (saw him on Leno, and he described how hard it is to do the american accent, but he does it very well) two fav highlights from House When the mob guys gave him a car and Houses' recation Two weeks ago, when the lady with the 30lb tumor said if she had surgery shed be scarred and couldnt wear a bikini (house reacted "You wear a bikini now?"
MillenniumMan831 Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 So, it's like a dramatic version of Becker?
Jericholic82 Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 So, it's like a dramatic version of Becker? I guess it is.
TheBostonStrangler Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 No. It's a funny version of Becker.
Jericholic82 Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 No. It's a funny version of Becker. Better description!
Ravenbomb Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 *House flicks at a kids face* Parent: What does that do? House: Nothing. It's just fun watching him blink.
Jericholic82 Posted April 10, 2005 Report Posted April 10, 2005 or when House told some people standing there "These are my Vicodin I take them for my leg pain and no you cant have any" (or something to that effect)
