Rhyno and Matt Hardy release

Recommended Posts

Here's the report from pwinsider.com

WWE.com posted the following today:

Rhyno and Matt Hardy have been released. World Wrestling Entertainment wishes them well in their future endeavors.

As PWInsider.com reported last week, the release of Rhyno comes on the heels of an embarrassing incident following Wrestlemania where Rhyno destroyed a large flower pot in the lobby of a hotel.

The Hardy release comes following the personal (which ended up being made public) issues between Hardy, Lita and Edge.  Hardy has been out of action for months while rehabbing his knee following surgery.

We'll have more on this story as it comes out.

I know these threads pop up whenever someone is released from WWE, but I think these are the kinds of moves TNA should be making. Hardy could be a World Champion in TNA as long as the resist the temptation to make the young girls happy with a Hardy Boyz reunion. And Rhyno could be a good addition to the main event scene as well as well. Thoughts?

Matt Hardy, yes. As soon as possible.

As for Rhyno, I'd avoid him for a while. He's got his personal problems to deal with. Plus, if you debut him six months to a year after he's released, some of that JTTS stigma will have worn off, and you can push him into the upper midcard easier.

I think Hardy could be be a major player in TNA right now. If I were making the decision, I'd debut him as soon as his no-compete ends (if he has one). I'd tease the reunion, a la the DX reunion on RAW that started the never ending HHH/HBK feud. That way he'd have heat coming in, give him and Jeff something to do b4 moving him up to feud with hopefully a face champion.

Matt Hardy is a better choice for a main event fued than jeff.

Rhino vs Abyss...thats all i can think about rhino.

I say TNA should pick them both up. Hopefully they didn't take the 90 day option.

With Matt there is a TON you can do with him. Push him to the moon as a solo, have him go over Jarrett.

Hardy Boyz vs. America's Most Wanted, or the Attitude Era "dream matches" vs. The Outlaws or The Outsiders (if Hall ever gets in shape again).

Matt Hardy vs. AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, etc. etc. etc.

Rhyno I could see being brought in on JJ's side. Have Brown constantly remind JJ that he "owes him one", with JJ fearing that Brown will want to cash in and challenge him soon. Rhyno shows up, gores the hell out of Brown, and is used as JJ's personal monster against a newly babyface Monty Brown.

Rhyno vs. Abyss would also be cool, and I'd love to see a rematch of the best Hardcore Title match in WWE history, Raven vs. Rhyno.

According to Meltzer, Matt has a 90-day no compete.

TNA needs both these guys ASAP, considering they may not be around in six months if things don't go well.

Matt Hardy: Version 2.0

TNA gets a much needed upgrade.

Rhyno, if they let him gore like he can gore then he'll look dangerous as hell.

I'm absolutely distraught. Not.

Little whiner cries all over his website about his girlfriend dumping him. If he'd kept schtum, none of this would have happened, and either him or Edge would have been bumped to Smackdown.

Edge: Fucks Lita, wins a high-profile match at WRestlemania.

Matt Hardy. Cries into his beer and gets fired. Man I love the WWE.

Can't wait til the almighty Jarrett strongarms him into working for $50 a night to job to him.

As for Rhyno, fuck him

Not really.

Matt only mentioned Edge's name once about the incident and it was the fans who kept bugging him why he took Lita's pics down

Both could have way better careers in TNA, no doubt. Matt can be a instant main eventer there or re-form the Hardy Boyz, but heres hoping he goes to the main event.

As for Rhyno, I say the hell with the Gore, sure he can keep using it but I think he should go back to using the piledriver for his finsher, and go back to his ECW ways of piledriving women through tables and just being a unstoppable monster in general.

Actually, he did a lot more than that. He made it obvious that something was wrong. He was pouting. He was acting very immature. He wanted all the beanbags from his forum to feel sympathetic for him...then he called Edge feces in an off-hand way.

At no time that I seen did he ever say that him and Lita simply broke up.

I'm not saying WWE getting rid of him was a good thing mind you but I can see the point that Desperate Housewives is trying to make.

What is a beanbag?

He didn't really mention Edge until after it was leaked out and everyone knew it was Edge that did it.

I don't think it was immature at all. The love of his life for a long time (5-6 years) cheated on him with his good friend, of course he's going to be upset. He never officially said Lita fucked Edge or went off on Lita or Edge.

Nah, but he did confirm that it was Edge, and his friend, through the website, released a detailed account of how/why Edge and Lita hooked up. Matt could have kept all of that private if he'd wanted to. Hell, it's possible that he could have requested the release, because he wants a fresh start.

As for Matt being an "instant main-eventer," I don't know about all that. I like him well enough, but I've never considered him to be main-event caliber. Would you order a PPV to see him? And if it's ever going to happen it has to be as a heel, because his babyface character just isn't suited for the top of the card.

Nope, Matt just made it clear he didn't ask for his release. Matt got his ass fired. Should have known better, should have cheated on Lita with someone's wife. He'd be going places right now.

WWE had to make the decision when the "you screwed matt" chants became more audible.

If they fired Matt for that then they really are fucking stupid.

Matt would be a great pickup for TNA- until he jobbed to Jeff 'Unover' Jarrett

Rhino would be better off in ROH where he can work a stronger style. Plus, ROH runs through Philly where he's guaranteed a strong reaction. Rhino vs. Joe? Sold. In TNA, he can't be the unstoppable monster he needs to be.

Where-as Hardy HAS to turn up in TNA. I'd be shocked if he didn't show up within a month of the dreaded No Compete Clause ending.

Joey Styles posted this over at 1wrestling.com

"Both Matt Hardy and Rhyno will be paid for the next 90 days by WWE and thus, unavailable to work for TNA or any other pro wrestling companies until July 10, 2005.

Matt Hardy can use his name elswhere as it is his true birth name.

WWE owns the name "Rhyno" spelled with a "y" rather than an "i". However, Terry Gerin did work as "Rhino" in ECW and other pro wrestling companies before that.

Personally, I think both of these talents would be huge acquisitions for TNA.

Matt Hardy could immediately be teamed with his brother Jeff to and Rhino is a much better version of Monty Brown.

At a true 5'10" and 265 lbs. (which means 6'0" and 290 lbs. in pro wrestling), Rhino is a wrecking machine, a very good worker and personally, a wonderful young man who is a pleasure to know.

The Pounce vs. The Gore? I would buy a pay-per-view to see that match"

Hmmm, Pounce vs Gore. Im sold. Too bad Russo isnt around. He would team Rhino with Jarrett and 5 other heels and put Monty with whoever over faces the company has and make it a gang fight.

The Hardy Boys, The Outsiders, and The New Age Outlaws are probably 3 of the 7 most popular tag teams in pro wrestling history (merchandise, ratings boom, success, house, PPV numbers).

I'd love a three-way, just for the hell of it.

Is Scott Hall even in the company anymore?

I thought he fell off the wagon and went into rehab again?

I hear he's only just come out of hospital after suffering partial kidney failure on a Korean drinknig binge..... that being said, he should still come back to tna asap, Scott Hall is a true legend and even when he's been totally wrecked, he's still been an entertaining character and halfway decent worker....

Slightly off-topic, but SK actually made a good point in a recent TNA review. Stick 3LK, Gunn, Waltman and The Outsiders all together in one mega-group and make a mint off the merchandising.

Rhyno should go through Anger Management for throwing a vase lol....TNA could use that in a hardcore match. Both guys would be a great addition to TNA long-term, if they do a one time deal like Spanky, they're useless.

Oh, that's GOLD, I love it. So they'd basically be a DX/nWo hybrid faction?
