Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2005 (edited) He does resemble Christopher Reeve has Clark Kent. Why is Eva Marie Saint playing Martha Kent? She's 80 years old, much too old to be Clark's mother. Edited April 17, 2005 by Vern Gagne

ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2005 Well, he looks the Kent part. But does he look the Superman part, that's the question.

The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2005 Why is Eva Marie Saint playing Martha Kent? She's 80 years old, much too old to be Clark's mother. Dude, they found him in a spaceship in a field. It doesn't really matter how old she was. In fact, it probably makes more sense for the Kents to be an older couple (like, 40-50 when they found Superman) since they had no kids after they found him. Of course, they also had none before, so maybe Pa is hiding something...but still.
Jingus 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2005 I think it was stated at some point that the Kents were unable to conceive a child for biological reasons, one of 'em was barren. Isn't it interesting how Superman's general look doesn't change all that much through the years, but Lois is completely redefined at least twice a decade? Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2005 The hero can always look the same because no one will like any new concept art or design of the hero because it most often gets set into everyone's mind that this is how he should look. Once that happens, its hard to shake from a character. It usually takes a total change in character for a new look to be accepted. And even then, it still can be frowned at (as well as the change in character).
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2005 What's up with his mustache. It's like waxed over or something. Just...what the fuck?
brokentusk16 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2005 Is this film supposed to take place in modern days? If so, then I'm not so sure about Clark looking the same he did in the 70's films. Just seems too...retro, I guess.

It's supposed to take place a few years after the second film; I've heard everything from four to five to even six years.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 19, 2005 It's at least 6 years, because the basic plot is that Superman is returning after being away from Earth for 6 years.
Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 And conveniently, Clark Kent returns at the same time, and still no one figures it out... I'd like to see how they're going to explain that. As a fan of Superman, I can't say I like the returning-after-being-gone-for-6-years premise.
Big McLargeHuge 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 I'm also not digging the the premise. I understand they want this series to branch out from the Reeve-Donner series, but if they were to completely restart from scratch, I wouldn't be too upset. I'm still not too sure I like Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane.

As a fan of Superman, I can't say I like the returning-after-being-gone-for-6-years premise. It's too bad Kal doesn't have the Superman Robots in this movie. That would take care of the problem of Clark returning at the same time as Superman. I think Singer is going for a Kingdom Come type of feel for this movie, thus the absense thing. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 20, 2005 We're talking about the same people, who are fooled by Clark wearing glasses. These aren't very observant people, so it's not like it would be hard for Clark to tell them a story that they believe. Hi, Folks CLARK! Where have you been! I've been traveling through Europe and Asia to find myself. Well, welcome back buddy

I've been traveling through Europe and Asia to find myself. Well, welcome back buddy It'll be interesting to see if Routh can act in a way to show the differences between Clark and Superman. With Reeve, you could almost believe that the disguise could work.
