Vyce 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Batista defeats Triple H with the powerbomb off the ropes. I really thought this would be a DQ. Don't tell me HHH wins it back at HIAC, because I can't see him losing THREE STRAIGHT TIMES to Batista. I guess the story is that he had Batista beaten but the ref was down so he should get another shot? Yep. I thought Triple H was going to win tonight and maybe Batista win the belt back at HITC. I guess not. I'll be shocked if HHH loses to Batista on three straight PPVs. But we shall see. He will if he's serious about putting over Batista as the next big star. .........yeah, I can't say it with a straight face either.
Silence 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Seems like Edge is going to be waiting a while before getting a World title feud with Batista (yeah, I know his "Money in the Bank" contract is good for one year, but HHH continues, like always, to stay in the World title picture), if HHH doesn't win the belt back by the next HHH/Batista PPV match. JHawk 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Everybody's so worried about Triple H getting another worried. I'm still trying to figure out how La Resistance came *that close* to regaining the tag team titles when they lost their "last ever title shot" two or three weeks ago on Heat
Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Here is the Christian's Rap in it's entirety "On RAW you've got Batista with muscle to spare, but he's got charisma like Tomko's got hair. You've got Triple H and Ric Flair, their legend still grows, 26 titles between them, and the worlds biggest nose. Have you heard the one about JBL, the rich guy on Smackdown? I hear his taxes are still soaring, he's no wrestling god, just a god of boring. Hey Cena, you think I'm jealous of your fortune and fame, well you talk like snoop dog but you look like Corey Haim. So after the draft, whether its RAW or Smackdown, JR or Michael Cole, I will be champion, cuz that's how I roll. " Hopefully they go through with this and send Christian to Smackdown, I have been asking for this feud since last year's draft was announced.

And yes the WWE themselves can't keep up with their own angles.
Repo Man jr 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 I didn't see the show, but it sounds like Christian is really becoming a star. Christian came over well and especially since he followed Hogan, who is the most over person in the world.
CheesalaIsGood 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Just got back from the event. Crowd was BATSHIT for Hogan. Loudest pop I have heard since Foley first won the title. They were really into the event all night long and for good reason. The first PPV in Manch-Vegas really made the city. Hopefully they will keep coming back as Boston and good ole WOOSTER has been lacking in recent years. Great stuff from top to bottom.
CheesalaIsGood 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 From the Torch... ~Lita talked with Kane backstage about their plans for the match later. Lita created nasty mental images of Viscera naked and drew pictures of what it would take for them to have sex with each other, speculating that Viscera would have to be on top. Kane told Lita she was disturbing him. Then Lita said she liked Kane's plan. Then they made out. They must not have shown the crowd that segment on the big screen as they didn't boo Lita nor did they react to anything Lita said.~ They must have turned down the mics for this because the crowd DID react very negativly to Lita. Not that it matters. The crowd nailed her good when she went out for the match.

fazzle 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 wow, Backlash SUCKED. I almost wish I didn't waste the money on the food I bought at Buffalo Wild Wings to watch it. The most entertainment I had the entire night? Watching the TV that had closed captioning on. It was hilarious! For example, did you know that HBK tapped out to Kurt Angle at Wrestle Wrivel? NEITHER DID I! It's amazing! Bah gawd, HHH! He's The Game! He's also the Severe Rebound Ball Assassin! oh, and the next to last match on the card? Daivari/Humid Hassan vs Shawn Michaels and the legendary, the immortal.....Hork Hork!
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted May 2, 2005 You've got to be shitting me... the show was bad? Maybe you were paying too much attention to the closed captions.

fazzle 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 I was bored by just about everything. Jericho/Benjamin was the only match I really got into, hell, even Benoit/Edge was just "meh". Christian's segment and Jericho/Benjamin were the only good things about the PPV.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 I liked Backlash pretty well. The stuff I figured would deliver did (Jericho/Shelton, Benoit/Edge), the Hogan/Michaels match was fun for the crowd, hell I was practically rolling on the floor when Chris Masters interrupted the Divas (my bro and I have a running joke about how horrible he is). I hear about this HIAC rematch but at this point what exactly is the impetus? Batista beat HHH AGAIN, there is no issue here anymore. I thought once the ref went down there were gonna go through 5 refs a la UT/Shawn to set up the 1st HIAC. Seriously, HHH has become soooo god awful and boring in the ring. He seems so paranoid to ever let his opponent get any offense, even when logic dictates it! This was the 2nd match now where Batista needed to come out and just kill him for 10 mins, then HHH gets an advantage, then do the screwy finale. It's like his whole schtick is to emulate Hogan circa Starrcade 97. I don't see how HHH can win the title back at HIAC...I mean who the hell can he feud with?? Unless some guys come over from SMDN there really isn't much else on Raw.
RedJed 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 I thought that was a very solid ppv all around - the only real down part of the show was Vis v. Kane and the Masters segment. The rest was real strong - opener and last man standing match were very much ppv calibur matches with enough time in each. I really can't bitch too much at all for either of those matches, putting both near **** level. Tag turmoil was ok, as was the Hogan match for what it was - Main event was much better than Mania's main event with the two, and I would say exceeded my expectations, although they were pretty low. I guess they are saving the blood until the 3rd match, which I hope isnt just setting up a HHH title run again for the summer after the next Raw ppv and HIAC. Good setup match until that time here with this match. Batista did a good job of selling and the psychology with HHH working on the back was solid. *** 1/4 for that one. If Judgment Day is anything like this ppv, WWE will be on a roll and then if they make the right switches at the draft, I'm liking this direction. I wouldnt really complain if all ppvs had only 6 matches for a 3 hour show, as long as the right ones are given time like they seemed to be here. A little too much filler here and there (ie the Masters segment and the divas thing) but it all tried to serve a purpose. Christian continues to get himself over too - they better be careful or they might just have a new babyface on their hands. Trish also impresses the hell out of me these days not just by her looks but how well she is doing with her character - she can actually speak in front of a crowd which she was never able to do well until only just somewhat recently. Lita is definately turning on Kane soon, likely actually going with Edge.
Boon 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 I just got in myself from the show. It was amazing. I agree with Cheesala, they must've turned the mics down, b/c we shit all over Lita during that segment. I was awaiting Christian all night, and he did not disappoint. His segment was amazing, and I really think he can be a superstar. People were dying to cheer for him. HHH got some face pops too, being from New England and all. After the show, he stood around and posed, left, came back, got on the mic and said "that's the thing about New Hampshire, it's a nice place to live but the people are assholes." That got a good pop. Overall, Hogan was huge, Christian is the man, and I'm glad we got the chance to harrass Lita and Edge. Great time.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 On TV the crowd was sorta trashing Lita a little during the Kane segment, but during the match I didn't hear much. Christian is rocking right now. He's becoming that cocky tweener that everyone likes seeing. Hell he trashed all the main event guys regardless of heel/face distinction. I swear at this point they need to have Christian bring in Corey Haim to do a run in vs. Cena, haha.
Boon 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 On TV the crowd was sorta trashing Lita a little during the Kane segment, but during the match I didn't hear much. The "You Screwed Matt" chants were mixed with the "slut" chants, which were mixed in with the "Let's Go Mable" chants. We couldn't really decide which way to go... Guest TheHulkster Report post Posted May 2, 2005 It was a pretty good PPV all things considered. Lita looked pretty slammin tonight. If I were Edge, i'd nail her. Fuck Matt Hardy.
RedJed 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Was I the only person who heard some fan ripping apart on Edge at ringside during his match? Crowd on TV sounded dead most of the ppv, but from reading live reports it didnt seem to be the real case, kind of like Mania 21 was.
Ced 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 The chunk of time between the Diva Magazine shill and the Masterlock challenge was excruciating to endure for me. The rest of the PPV was acceptable though, with the Jericho-Benjamin opener being quite awesome. And everybody needs a little more of the Viscera Hustle in their lives. In animated GIF form, if you will.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Awesome, Christian did just what I hoped he'd do: rip every main eventer. I'd love to see him on Smackdown, because I don't think he'll shine as much on Raw.
Guest LooneyTune Report post Posted May 2, 2005 It seems as if his main focus has been on John Cena. He's Marky Mark wannabe? he looks like Corey Haim? Ouch... them be fighting words.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Oh definately, but he also poked fun at Batista, HHH (and Flair), and JBL. It's perfect for someone who's character is a heel, but is also getting positive reaction. I actually can't wait for Christian to go against Cena, just for the crowd reaction. I'm thinking it'll be like how, to use an example LOTC used earlier in this thread, Rock vs. Jericho from No Mercy '01. Sure, the match will most likely suck as both aren't the most exciting in ring performers, but I think this will be one of those times that the reaction, promos, and buildup will make up for it.
