Guest Corino 1000 Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 "ROHWrestling.com has announced that Ring of Honor is "in negotiations" with former WWE star Matt Hardy. According to several sources, you can pretty much expect Hardy in a ROH ring once his 90 day no compete is up with World Wrestling Entertainment. It's also possible that he may make a non-wrestling appearance on an ROH show (as he is doing for Jersey All Pro Wrestling) or may debut for the promotion in a promo or vignette sent in to be included on a DVD release prior to 7/11, when his no-compete expires. I wouldn't be shocked to see ROH conduct a shoot interview with him either." pwinsider.com
Youth N Asia Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 How does ROH figure into a no compete clause? TNA, sure. But ROH isn't competing with WWE in any way
King Cucaracha Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 I don't think it's actually specified in the clause what promotions he can work for. I think it's just that he (Hardy) cannot compete anywhere. At least, that's how it comes off. Seems wrong. But I guess Vince can do what he wants at the moment.
Youth N Asia Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 I always thought guys could work smaller shows.
Guest Corino 1000 Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 No they can't bro they can make apperenaces but not wrestle.
Jobber of the Week Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 No they can't bro they can make apperenaces but not wrestle. And that's iffy if Vince has his say. Remember that in the Lesnar lawsuit they're trying to claim that Brock sitting in the audience of a Japanese show violated the agreement.
Guest jobsquad Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 well when he did the new japan thing there was the whole "what will brock do at the show" while in japw they have made it clear matt is only doing autograph signing
Shooting Star Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 They are just trying to fuck with him. They let Tommy Dreamer appear in ROH twice and wasn't Al Snow the fricking JAPW champ in 2001 and still wrestling for WWE? Steven Richars was even in a main event feud with Eddie Colon in P.R...he got fired soon after that though.

When they're still under contract, Vince (or someone high up the pecking order) approves all appearances. It's like when Lawler was with MLW. Vince was okay with it, until it either clashed with a WWE show or he thought they were competition (can't remember which) and Lawler was pulled.
Maztinho Posted April 29, 2005 Report Posted April 29, 2005 Plus sending some talent to indy shows can double as a scouting trip, maybe finding some talent that Vince could pick up.
Guest Shadow Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 True but it could be a case of Matt just not wanting to bother risking Vince calling him on the no compete cause and causing more chaos and just playing it safe since he knows his name will still be a appealing draw enough come July 11th.
Guest Corino 1000 Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Well personally I feel Matt dosen't give a rats ass any more about Vince's crazy shit. Personally I'd love to see ROH or JAPW film a shoot with Matt.
CBright7831 Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Ah hell! I was hoping WWE would realize their mistake and rehire the guy. I know, I'm wrong, but fuck it.
Zack Malibu Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Steven Richars was even in a main event feud with Eddie Colon in P.R...he got fired soon after that though. Mind sharing with us when Steven Richards got fired? Since, you know, he wasn't.
DangerousDamon Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 Gabe just reported on the ROH message boards that Matt Hardy will be facing Christopher Daniels in his Debut. I just died inside.
Guest Corino 1000 Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 Hell yeah! matt vs. daniels there styles both mix and they are both good workers in the ring the match should own! I guess Lita fucking Edge wasn't all bad.
Guest BrokenWings Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 Well, we're giving you the ball, Matt. Let's see what you've got
haws bah gawd Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 I hope ROH releases this on video when it happens, this is bound to be great.
King Cucaracha Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 Steven Richars was even in a main event feud with Eddie Colon in P.R...he got fired soon after that though. Mind sharing with us when Steven Richards got fired? Since, you know, he wasn't. For the record, I didn't say that. And also for the record...Daniels vs. Hardy should be a very good match. I think it would have been better to put Hardy against someone he actually knows for his first match, like Gibson/Noble or Spanky. But Daniels vs. Hardy is some match on paper.
Guest Miss Indy Queen Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 They are just trying to fuck with him. Vince was okay with it, until it either clashed with a WWE show or he thought they were competition (can't remember which) and Lawler was pulled. Vince thought they were competition because they were on the sunshine network and selling DVD's, so they pulled Lawler from their show. I believe guys like Lawler, and Snow have announcers contracts which is different than a regular wrestler's contract. Same with Dreamer. I believe they have to have it go passed Vince, but it's a lot more lenient than a regular contract.
Jericholic82 Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 I think its rather unfair that they have that 90 day clause, I mean especially when they CANNED THE GUY. I can see itf they asked for the relase but this is just not right. I hope at least they give them some cash when they fire them.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 When guys are sitting out their no compete clause, they usually get paid their downside guarantee for however long the clause lasts.
zyn081 Posted May 22, 2005 Report Posted May 22, 2005 I hate to admit it, but Matt is better off in TNA. More his style.

zyn081 Posted May 29, 2005 Report Posted May 29, 2005 Gabe just reported on the ROH message boards that Matt Hardy will be facing Christopher Daniels in his Debut. I just died inside. I dont think you will see that in ROH. Youll see it in TNA 1st. Daniels is with TNA till 2008 and they have the final say over what he does. Hardy himself has said that he will be at TNA's Sacrifice. It makes sense for him to go to TNA, what with his brother being there and all. Now, if the ROH fans hadnt shitted on Jeff, maybe he would be set for ROH, but I wouldnt go there if somebody disrespected my brother, no matter how much he deserved it. At least this will get ROH fans to tune into TNA to watch Hardy-Daniels.
