the max 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 Sportscenter won for whatever category it was in. Dan Patrick was preparing for his annual loss to Bob Costas on his show this afternoon. That's all I know.

Mik 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY – SPORTS EVENT ANALYST: THE WINNER IS: * Joe Morgan ESPN He's certainly starting to get back at Billy Beane for writing Moneyball! I think Michael Lewis should sue Joe Morgan just so he knows he exists. OUTSTANDING LONG FEATURE: THE WINNER IS: * SportsCenter ESPN - Ben Comen I saw this. It was about the kid who runs cross country despite being mentally retarded. He always falls down and gets injured but always finishes the race. It was a pretty interesting piece. Banter 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2005 OUTSTANDING LONG FEATURE: THE WINNER IS: * SportsCenter ESPN - Ben Comen . This was an amazing story. I was getting ready to leave my house for work when it came on. I ended up watching the whole thing and being a few minutes late for work. Ben is an inspirational young man. For those that haven't heard of him or seen the feature Ben is a runner on his schools cross country team. Sports Illustrated called Ben “the slowest high school cross-country runner in America.” Ben is so slow that runners who completed the races often come back and run with him. Ben is not slow because he is a bad athlete. Ben is slow, I should say Ben runs slow because he has cerebral palsy. Often times Ben falls down while running and you can't help getting emotional watching him struggle, but he pulls himself up and keeps on running. Why does Ben do it? From his High School XC website: Ben runs to prove a point. He runs to beat his own personal opponent – the cerebral palsy that tries to limit him. He runs to show others that we often create our own obstacles. He runs to destroy the old stereotype that a physically handicapped person should learn to live within his limitations. By running, however slow he may be, his point is made. “Anybody can find something they can do – and do it well,” says Ben. I like to show people that you can either stop trying or you can pick yourself up and keep going. It’s just more fun to keep going.”
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted May 3, 2005 I actually liked Sportscenter's feature on the Vanderbilt RB who was involved in Ole Miss DB Chucky Mullins' paralyzing injury. The Comen piece was your basic "physically challenged kid playing a sport" piece that I feel I've seen a million times.

The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2005 Au contraire, I am civil with Cardinals fans and never let it go beyond good-natured ribbing. Their fans know the sport well and are not total assholes. I have to hand it to La Russa and the Pujols-Edmonds-Rolen triumvirate for their domination of the National League last year. HOWEVAH! I have not yet met a Houston Astros fan in person, but I feel like if I did, they would be the most annoying, smug, cocky, loudmouthed pricks in all of baseball's fanbase, excluding a certain pair of teams in a certain pair of cities on a certain part of the I-95 corridor. TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2005 Does YES lie to all their TV viewers? I swear they mention that Yankeeoagraphy and Centerstage won an emmy everytime time they have commercials. Every commercial break they pimp Kids On Deck as an Emmy winner, which HAS to be bullshit. That show is awful.

Atlanta and Miami? Yeah, really. Sheesh! Fuckin people around here and there.. OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY – PLAY-BY-PLAY: THE WINNER IS: * Joe Buck FOX OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY – STUDIO ANALYST: THE WINNER IS: * Cris Collinsworth HBO What. The. Fuck. You've gotta be kidding me. These are BY FAR the worst two. Certainly, at least, in football. Not sure about how it extends to other sports, but these two are boneheaded shilling machines and/or egomaniacs. Collinsworth is one smug arrogant motherfucker. How could anyone like him if even his on-air personality stinks?
