Everyone else that I know that have seen that movie mention it as being one of the worst movies that they've seen. So I predict it'll do well at the MTV awards. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2005 Everyone was telling me how funny Harold and Kumar was. I saw it and got a few small laughs out of it, but I just didn't get what was so great about the movie. It's no Bubble Boy
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2005 Visit a university. College kids love it. I'm kind of indifferent. When I'm visiting universities, it's to hit on college aged girls. If I get the chance to talk about movies, I do ... but for the most part it's just to be a leacherous old man. Sadly, one of the two jag-offs that said the movie is hilarious is a late-30-something year old sales guy that used to work in my company ... certainly not MTV's target audience for ND. SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2005 Other than nameless/faceless strangers on the internet, the only two people that I've ever met that liked Napoleon Dynomite are - literally - the two most obnoxious, lame people I know. Everyone else that I know that have seen that movie mention it as being one of the worst movies that they've seen. All I know is that I laughed my ass off non-stop both times I viewed it. That makes it a good comedy in my book. The first time was in a packed theater, where the laughter was so widespread it drowned out some of the dialogue. There's probably large groups of people who didn't get where the humor was coming from, but I've known enough guys in my life who acted like Napoleon (to varying degress) that I found the parody dead-on. Besides, if you didn't laugh when the farmer shot the cow in front of the school bus, you just don't have a sense of humor.

CBright7831 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2005 let me get this straight. Napolean Dynamite won over Spider-Man 2 and Kill Bill 2? ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's an MTV movie, so of course, someone pulled strings. I would like to see how they tally this bullshit. How the hell does the Day after Tomorrow beat the awesome beyond words Spider-Man sequence? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That one really baffles me. I don't know how such a scene could be beat. Another shocker was how did Lindsey Lohan beat Uma Thurman?
Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted June 9, 2005 Another shocker was how did Lindsey Lohan beat Uma Thurman? The majority of the people who voted were in Lohan's demographic. She probably would have won regardless of her performance. In my opinion, there's no way Lohan gave a better performance than Thurman, Swank, or Portman. I haven't seen The Notebook, so I can't comment on that. Looking over that list, Best Fight and Best Male Performance are the only winners that I would even slightly agree with. Mole 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 ND won Best Picture? What a load of crap. There is NO WAY ND was better than any of those films. It just wasn't a better movie. Simple as that. And MTV is a bit biased there; they did produce the damn movie. UGH.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 ND was original, that I'll say. None of the others were.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 So, did anyone watch this trainwreck? I watched Fallon's (mainly unfunny) monologue and drooled over Lacey Chabert's dress before changing channels. I did happen to catch that HORRID Triumph knockoff with Lindsey Lohan. And with the winners, I think we've seen another example of how moronic the MTV viewership is. Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 Or the fact that people just have varying opinions. I mean damn, people are morons because they like a certain movie now? I for one found ND to be funny as hell. Better then the likes of Kill Bill, or Spiderman, well, not really, but that's up to opinion, and seeing as it was an MTV production, like someone said I'm sure some strings were pulled. But I don't think that because someone liked the movie they're a "moron". Are you a 'fag' for watching wrestling at one point and time? As I'm sure some assholes at one time or another have said. (Really bad example, but you get it)
KingPK 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 Well, ND I don't mind too much since it was completely geared towards the audience that would vote for these things, although it was not as good as a movie as Rey in my eyes. I'm talking about stuff like Lindsey Lohan winning even though she wasn't even the best actor in Mean Girls (which was more of a good ensemble than one good actor sticking out) and Ben friggin' Stiller as Best Villain (Cruise, McAdam and Molina blew him away as bad guys/gals). No one really puts much merit into these awards anyway, so meh.

nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 Other than Swank not winning, and Leo D winning but not being there, it's normally pretty easy to figure out who's winning by who's in attendance and who they showed on the red carpet. Like, as soon as you see Dustin Hoffman, it's pretty obvious that he's going to win. Also, to agree with KingPK, Lacey Chabert was a-freaking-mazing looking in that dress. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 I'm actually surprised with the amount of A List stars that show up to this piss ant award show...I figured Nicole Kidman to be above this sort of drivel (in her opinion)...I think Tom Cruise is always there as well, not just this year because of the award he got...and man did Molly Ringwald look like SHIT...nice to see Emilio Estevez and Judd Nelson were OH so busy to show up...
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 Tom Cruise is probably there to hype War of the Worlds more than anything else, and then they figured that they could give him an award because he was there. And, yeah, Ringwald did NOT age well ... Sheedy did, though. Hmm, she looked fine. And was the "they're in Africa with Dave Chappelle" meant to be a diss on them for no-showing? Is there a legit issue going on?
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 I mean, I know they don't wanna be typecast, but what has Emilio done worth a shit besied Young Guns and Mighty Ducks? and Judd Nelson? I mostly remember him as the voice of Hot Rod in Transformers the Movie and the white cop in New Jack City...otherwise???
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 Judd Nelson: Other than Breakfast Club, is probably best known for that TV show with Brooke Shields. And for real-life drug problems. Emilio Estevez: You nailed it with the Mighty Ducks and Young Guns. And for being the brother of Charlie Sheen.

The MTV age group is the group with the most disposable income. They also are mindless idiots who swallow anything MTV tells them is hip and cool. A-list stars know who butters their bread and show up for these things MTV does to show that they too, are hip and cool.
