I agree that in an ideal world they should fouc on pushing younger guys, but lets face facts, we all know as long as HHH can drag his ass to the ring, he will be the main man in the World Title mix. Just a fact we have to live with. With that in mind, it seems crazy to me, not to do a HHH-Flair program at some point. And if HHH happens to be World Champ at the time (which is a good bet), then why not give Flair a win. There are a ton of ways to do it. They could have a PPV in the Carolinas, and have Flair get motivated by someone to stop being a lackey for HHH (kinda like Orton was doing in the Fall) and challenge him. HHH would kinda blow him off as nothing, and tell him not to embarass himself. Of course Flair would demand the match, it happens, HHH dominates, Flair tries a couple of comebacks, but HHH keeps cutting him off. HHH is about to win with the Pedigree, he starts yapping at the fans before he drills him, Flairs hits a low blow and a small package and wins the title. Flair tries to retire the next night, HHH comes out and challenges him to a rematch, Flair rejects the offer (admitting HHH is better than him), HHH questions his manhood, Flair cuts a Flair promo, accepts the rematch. In the rematch HHH takes the title back, fakes a respect thing, and destroys Flair. Flair does an injury angle, and eventually comes back to get revenge on HHH, in that angle HHH beats him down again, and some younger guy comes out and saves Flair. Flair acts as this guys mentor/manager and that guy work a major program with HHH. That gets Flair a title win, and puts over a new guy. And I'm sure people can come up with many better scenarios where Flair could get one last title win, without hurting the title or any of the people fighting for it.
Guest JMA Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 I'd prefer it if Flair seperated from Triple H WITHOUT starting a feud with him. I'd also like him to stay a heel and maybe manage someone lower on the card (like Christian). I agree with the consensus that he shouldn't be wrestling, though.

I'd also suggest there was a handful of guys who could have been a big a star as Hulk was if they'd been pushed in the 80's.

People have mentioned it many times before, but wrestling-titles.com lists Flair as a 19-time world champion (9 NWA Heavyweight titles, 8 WCW Heavyweight titles and 2 WWF Heavyweight titles, with the phantom Jack Veneno title switch not included). Surely Flair knows the number of titles he has won, or at the very least, somebody in WWE has researched the true number. Why does WWE insist on referring to him as 'only' a 16-time world champion ? About Flair becoming champion another time: Please, no.

Flair draws nostalgia pops, and as Hogan proved, nostalgia pops do not mean fans will pay to see you as Champion. Even Hogan would make a more believable Champ than Flair at this point.

As far as Flair getting a real, competitive title run though? Absolutely not, no way, and never.

BUT I WOULD NOT LIKE A LONG REIGN FOR FLAIR. instead, he should get out of the ring/ringside situation and do some color commentary. haha.

I know the majority of answers will say no, but does that contradict smarks saying that they should push the new generation(I also see the immediate response in calling HHH new generation, but in some ways he is post Austin and Rock). HHH beating Flair's record will make him this generation's Ric Flair ON PAPER. Whether fans buy him as being as great as Flair is another story. Personally, I don't think it should happen for the simple fact that it looks too obvious and the record is just starting to look like something similar to Bruno Sammartino. It should takes years for this to be broken for it to mean anything for the record breaker or the fans. Another tidbit would be this. Knocking on wood, if Flair were to pass away would it be disrespectful on the part of HHH to break the record. Would he respect Flair's record or try to break his mentor's legacy. I don't even think HHH is that callous or am I wrong?

When Triple H has ten, what's the big deal between eleven or twelve. I have a feeling even if he breaks the record, it's going to be largely meaningless, and he might be better off coming up short and ensuring Flair's importance as benchmark to all champs, and a part of that legacy, if they can pull it off. No cheap shit of Flair costing Trips the title, just doesn't make it.

There were several title changes on non-televised tours (Flair would win the title back a few nights later in a different city) that never got counted in the official count.

At Vengeance on June 26 in Las Vegas, Ric Flair pulls the sledgehammer away from HHH through the cell, taking away HHH's advantage. Batista picks up the win and celebrates with Flair. The next night (June 27) on the RAW/SD! Supershow from Anaheim, Batista shows his gratitude by offering Ric a shot at the World Title. HHH comes out and bitches about Flair's interference, so Batista relents and makes it a 3-way match. Flair pins HHH in the 3-way match to win his 17th (official) World title. June 28-July 3: Flair tours Asia with the RAW crew as World Heavyweight Champion. July 4 (RAW/SD! Supershow, Sacramento): We turn the clock back to 1987, as Ric Flair comes to the arena in a stretch limousine. Dressed to the nines, flanked by two gorgeous blondes, and wearing the World Heavyweight Championship on his shoulder, Ric Flair cuts a classic 'champion's promo' that gets the whole ARCO Arena 'woo!'-ing in unison. Batista approaches and challenges the champ to a rematch since he never got pinned. Flair accepts. During the match, HHH interferes and attacks Ric with the sledgehammer while the ref and Batista are down, allowing The Animal to get the pin and regain the World title. Flair gets stretchered out. This allows Flair to be off TV for, say, three weeks, then he can return and attack HHH, setting up a match at SummerSlam.
