Post what your local Rock station is playing

Recommended Posts

I was just talking to a friend of mine who lives in Missouri about music on the radio, he named a bunch of bands that are big there that I've never heard of, and I named a few he's never heard of. So I know that TSM has people from all over the place, so I'm interested in seeing what's popular where you are. Here's the most played songs at KROQ(Los Angeles) this week according to KROQ.com, post yours..

1 My Chemical Romance & The Used - Under Pressure

2 The Killers - Smile Like You Mean It

3 Weezer - Beverly Hills

4 Nine Inch Nails - The Hand That Feeds

5 Queens of the Stone Age - Little Sister

Our station is playing the FLYING FUCK out of:

Be Yourself - Audioslave

the new Theory of a Deadman song

the new SOAD song

I am now EXTREMELY SICK AND FUCKING TIRED of hearing these songs. Especially after they played the Theory of a Deadman song, 5 times within the span of 3 hours this past Monday.

I would post a top 20, but their website's top 20 was apparently last updated in 2003. It still has "Caught in the Rain" by Revis, and Bring me to life listed in the top 20.

You guys are lucky. We don't even have a rock station out here in Nova Scotia.

Growing up, every single station ever only played the slowest, most depressing music you can imagine. I blame it for a derpressed childhood.

It's still like that today but at least now we got a 1hr rock cafe on the Hawk at 12:00 on the weekdays. Still, even then they'll often only play soft rock if you can even call it rock. Once every couple of days we get a couple of rock songs.

Ranting over.

107.7 The End...

1: Audioslave - Your Time has Come

2: Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc

3: The White Stripes - Blue Orchid

4: Transplants - Gangsta's & Thugs

5: The Bravery - An Honest Mistake

6: Killers - Somebody Rock Me

7: Oasis - Lyla

8: Social Distortion - Death or Glory

9: Mike Doughty - Looking at the World From the Bottom of a Well

10: Beck - Girl

Gorillaz' staying power on 107.7 surprises the hell out of me since they've been on the countdown since March. Seattle really loves Gorillaz, I suppose (not TOO much of a shock, I guess, since Clint Eastwood dominated the countdown back in the summer of 2001).

Oh man, the Tea Party. Canadians still take them seriously?

What's wrong with the Tea Party? Granted, they're not nearly as good as they use to be but they still put out decent music.

Actually, they're pretty damn bad. They peaked with their first album and only went downhill. Mind you, I still dig the shit out of stuff like "Sister Awake", "The Bazaar" and especially "Psycopomp" but they're worthless now.

They do, however, have the dubios distinction of being the only Canadian band from the mid-90's alt-rock boom to still be around. Moist, Matthew Good Band, I Mother Earth etc. are all gone.

Their first four albums are all very good and they only started to decline with the release of Interzone Mantras. Splendor Solis is probably their best effort but the other three are right up there as well. The pressure to become more commercial is what ruined them, and working with Bob Rock (even if it was for only a few songs) didn't help them either.

My home station is Edge 102.1, the list has been posted already. They pimp alot of Canadien stuff and the bands that will be playing EdgeFest (Rise Agiasnt, Story of the year)

Also Our Lady Peace is by far the best of the Canadien rock groups, there last effort was weak and the clips of the new cd sound pretty pussy

Clusmy is the best cd ever

WBCN - 104.1 FM, Boston

(BTW, WAAF is NOT a Boston station. That thing's an hour out of town in Worcester. WBCN and WFNX are the Boston-area stations. I live in Cambridge, and I can barely get WAAF until I drive another 15 miles to the west).

1) Beck - E-Pro

2) Nine Inch Nails - The Hand That Feeds

3) U2 - City of Blinding Lights

4) Weezer - Beverly Hills

5) Green Day - Holiday

6) Kings of Leon - Molly's Chambers

7) The Exies - Ugly

8) Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams

9) Velvet Revolver - Dirty Little Thing

10) Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out

11) Dropkick Murphys - It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock and Roll)

12) Papa Roach - Getting Away With Murder

13) Green Day - American Idiot

14) U2 - Vertigo

15) Foo Fighters - Best of You

16) White Stripes - Blue Orchid

17) Stereophonics - Dakota

18) Kings of Leon - The Bucket

19) Velvet Revolver - Fall To Pieces

20) Billy Corgan - Mina Loy (M.O.H.)

21) Oasis - Lyla

22) Dropkick Murphys - Sunshine Highway

23) Audioslave - Your Time Has Come

24) Garbage - Bad Boyfriend

25) Weezer - We Are All On Drugs

26) No Address - When I'm Gone (Sadie)

27) 22-20's - Devil In Me

28) Seether - Remedy

29) Staind - Right Here

30) Beck - Girl

This is their most requested, as opposed to their most-played. Some of these I never heard on the air (American Idiot, Molly's Chambers, and Vertigo come to mind). They are playing the hell out of the other two Green Day songs, City of Blinding Lights (U2 just did three shows here, and BCN pimped them for two months), both Dropkicks songs, Girl by Beck (but not E-Pro), and Audioslave.

Hey Matt Young, there's a rock station that hails from San Diego that you might be able to catch where you live since you live geographically closer to there than I did, and I got it as well. And while I love KROQ, it's by far the best station I've listened to.

I loathe the old rock station here, and apparently so did most of South Florida, as they were replaced by a slightly better rock station, although they still kinda suck.

3:16 a.m. Nookie

Limp Bizkit rate it | hear it

The old rock station would've replaced the Sabbath, Metallica, Alice in Chains, and Smashing Pumpkins with Korn, Deftones, Three Days Grace, and pop-punk.

WAAF hasn't been in Worcester for years. I live in Worcester. Their address is 20 Guest St. in Brighton. I do believe they have another studio or something to that effect in Westboro, though.

I couldn't find my local rock station's playlist, as they don't have it listed, nor do they have a link for it, but I'm betting that Led Zeppelin, 3 Doors Down, Audioslave's "Be Yourself" and Nickelback have been played multiple times today.

Last time I checked it was Starseed by Our Lady Peace.

Right now I won't be surprised if it was NIN or Audioslave.
