NBA Offseason Stuff

That show pisses me the fuck off. Why is Mario Lopez getting another job that isn't a game show that's on six A.M. on Sunday mornings or a Saved By The Bell reunion or a Pacific Blue reunion? That man needs to only work in those three capacities.

I guess the Joe Johnson deal is finally going to be made official today. According to ESPN, the Hawks have announced an afternoon press conference.

Its about fucking time. Hopefully the suns can pull Finley, but if not, I still think the team is a upgrade from last year. Raja Bell, at very least is a upgrade from Q richardson, which will help.

and the bench gets a little deeper.

Reggie should replace Magic Johnson in the studio, since Magic never shows up anyway. That gives you Ernie, Kenny, Reggie, and Charles, a strong lineup that blows ESPN's studio crew of Stephen A., a white guy, and two other black guys outta the water.

I would love for Reggie to replace Magic. Magic does provide decent insight, but he's a conflict of interest being that he has some ownership in the Lakers. Even Barkley said he would stand down his position at TNT if he was to get in on being a minority owner of the Suns due to it being a conflict. I'm not saying Magic was all rah, rah Lakers (there was nothing to cheer about this last season) but still, he should not be on the broadcast.

BTW, cool story, last May, I was in LA and ate at Rosce's Chicken n Waffles on Hollywood Blvd (the other one I had eaten at was further south somewhere) and saw Magic Johnson and his family chowing down. The crew I was with didn't believe me at first, then they all marked like little bitches when they saw the Magic man eating with the fam.

So...where do you all think Finley will end up? I was impressed by the *city* banners the Heat put up with Finley on them.

Is Aaron McKie better than Derek Anderson or is it a toss up between them? Would someone like Tyronne Lue be a better option than McKie?

Depends on what you are looking for. McKie is a big guard who provides leadership, but Anderson is a better athlete. McKie knows his role and can deal with a ball hogging 2 guard (Iverson). Anderson is a little better right now at this stage in their careers, but perhaps McKie may be the better Laker fit.

Don't believe the hype on Lue. He's a backup lifer, nothing more. He has not shown he can be a #1 PG and lead a team to a winning record. When he was with the Lakers in the middle of their 3 peat, he had the benefit of playing behind Derek Fisher and was very fresh when he entered games, making him look better than he really is. When given starter minutes, he's mediocre.

McKie and Anderson are both good fits for their respective teams. Just my opinion, but If the roles were switched, I don't see DA working out with the Lakers.

I'd say it's a push because of how McKie was used last season (16 mpg compared to Atkins 35), and the effectiveness of Vujacic replacing Atkins this season. With the amount of minute-eaters the Lakers have on the bench (Walton, Jones, Slava, Cook) not to mention the rookies, McKie will probably serve as a backup plan for injuries.

If it were simply my personal feelings, I'd say it was an upgrade, because I fucking hate Chucky Atkins. No real reason. I just hate him.

In the stat dept, Atkins has him. Even if you increase McKie's minutes, he isn't going to produce much anymore because of his age. He's limited and is no longer a defensive presence. However, Mckie has never acted up in the lockerroom whereas Atkins is a cancer on just about every team he's been on.

So it's a two way street. In the numbers department, it's a downgrade. In the lockerroom it's an upgrade.

Considering Finley is going to get the same amount of money from Detroit, Phoenix, and Miami, it all comes down to personal preference, and what he wants for himself and him family, should he have one. Miami is the hotspot, and once I heard that he would going to get the same mid-level exception no matter where he went, I knew Detroit didn't stand a chance. Personally they should get Jalen Rose, but he didn;t get the amnesty treatment, did he?

Considering that Tyronn Lue had a starting job for a hot minute with the Magic and he did nothing with it, I agree about him being nothing more than Average Point Guard.

I just can;t believe guys are excited about Pat fucking Burke coming off the bench for Phoenix. He didn't show me anything when he played for the Magic, either.

Ervin Johnson to Milwaukee and Nick Van Exel to San Antonio.

And Tyronn Lue re-signs with the Hawks.

Raja Bell, at very least is a upgrade from Q richardson

Do what now?

Raja Bell is a better player than Quentin richardson. He shot a better three point percentage, better field goal percentage, and a better defender. Q shot a lot of trees and...well...thats about it. True, Raja averaged 13 points a game while Q put up 17 but Q played more minutes, as Bell got his burn towards the end of the year in Utah.

Bell was like the 2nd or 3rd option on that team. Q was like the 5th. There's a difference, as to why he averaged so much points (Raja Bell). He never had a season like that before.

Q took the second most shots on the team. I am going to say that doesn't exactly point to 5th option.

Not sure about Van Exel in SA. He's a firecracker for sure and when he's hot, he's as good a shooter as anyone in the league. Problem is he's a cancer on pretty much every team he's been on and hasn't shown he likes to play defense, something Popovich and Co. put a premium on. I figure if Van Exel doesn't fall in line with SA doctrine, he'll be gone by midseason.

I don't recall Van Excel ever actually being a cancer on any team.

I think its still holdover from when he clashed with Dell Harris, and whats his face in Denver.
