Shooting Star 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 I went to New Year's Revolution in January and was really dissapointed with the quality of the wrestling but now WWE is coming back to the caribbean in August for a house show so I wanna know how are they? are the mostly wrestling based?thanks. Guest Brian Report post Posted June 22, 2005 I don't want to say they're mostly wrestling, but they're more wrestling dominated than most TV. It's a different live experience. I like it better than the TV, because it generally seems to be more personal and interactive.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 SD is running a house show on July 17th in Ocean City MD, but I couldn't bring myself to spend the money to see the show. The ME as of last weekend was Rey/Big Show vs Carlito/Eddy but uh..thats not happening now, but I have a feeling it will end up being Rey/Show vs Morgan/Eddy which will just absolutely suck. They could break it up into two matches as a preview for the Great American Bash the following week, but I doubt it.
Guest JerichosHi-Lite Report post Posted June 22, 2005 House shows are excellent. I've been to televised shows and tons of house shows, and I think house shows are actually better. The last house show I went to was a SmackDown one, and JBL, Bubba Ray Dudley and a few others started ripping on our city for ages, which you wouldn't NORMALLY find at a televised taping. They're definitely a lot more personal. Also, because Fit Finlay's from a nearby city, they brought him out and he posed for a while. That alone was worth the price tag Oh and if you're close enough to the front, wrestlers might talk to you. Sort of. I was about fourth row and as RVD walked past me, I shouted (in the most marky way possible, I'm ashamed to admit. I become a mark at wrestling events) "I love you" and he shouted it back. Always worth the price tag, too So yeah, definitely recommended
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 Yeah, I've been to a couple RAW tapings, and they were ok, but I think most of the house shows I've been to were more fun. TV tapings tend to have downtime a lot (during commercial breaks, interview segments, etc), where house shows are basically just all matches, which are usually longer than the ones you see on TV. Plus I think tickets are usually a bit cheaper.

Guest Tjhe CyNick Report post Posted June 22, 2005 Yeah TV tapings and PPVs are obviously cool to see, especially if something major happens. But for overall enjoyment I would say house shows are better. For the reasons that others have said.
swan 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 If you like wrestling for wrestling you'll love house shows. If you like wrestling for the soap oprea angles, you won't. I've been to good and bad though.

iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 Here's my advice. Buy the cheapest ticket they have, then just move closer. Like house shows sell out these days.
Guest thecobra2 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 I'm also a big time fan of house shows and have been to dozens over the years. There is defineatly more fan interaction with wrestlers reacting to chants and comments people make in the crowd. They are a ton of fun and area worth every penny, especially if your a big fan of actual wrestling. House shows are typically 90% wrestling and 10% interviews/skits. Guest thecobra2 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 Actually the last house show I went to was a RAW one and it was nearly sold out. I was pretty suprised. Plus they often have security and the gates to the floor and check everyones tickets to ensure you have seats. Get floor seats if possible beacuse this is where you'll get the most interaction. Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 Unsure, the last wwf house show I went to was in 1993 so...... I have been to exaclty 3 wwf/e shows in the past decade, a smackdown in 01 in LA, unforgiven 02 in la, and raw in anaheim in august last year. They were fun, the ppv being the most fun but there is alot of down time and you're never guaranteed long, fun matches with tv tapings at least.
Guest jm29195 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 The first WWE event I ever went to was a house show at the Birmingham NEC in May last year, it was awesome, it had HHH/Benoit, Flair/HBK (incredible) Shelton/Orton 2/3 falls (Orton did slingshot suplex!), Batista/Edge (Batista did the rolling Perfect necksnap!!), and a monster Regal segment- all in all the best WWE live event I've ever attended.... Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 I also like house shows better than TV shows especially if it is a big local event because usually it means that you will get the top performers and that everyone will try hard. At house shows usually you can get a lot closer to the performers and they are definitely a lot looser and simply enjoying themselves most of the time and it becomes visible in their ring work. Guys like RVD definitely excel in the house show environment. On TV Rob has a tendency to dog it, but at house shows usually he is able to do whatever he wants so he puts more of an effort in. You will often see wrestlers act out of character. One thing you can always count on at house shows is that 90% of the time the faces go over in the main event, so at least the crowd leaves happy. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2005 I can tell you for a fact from my own personal experiences, that the house shows I attended were almost always better than attending the show that was for TV. You don't have to deal with bullshit backstage segment or cheesy script. Of course, there's no pyro or Titantron, but for me, that's worth the sacrifice as you get surprises once in awhile. House show experience of mine include: Aug 17 2001 (My hometown) - Fun main event of Kurt Angle, The Undertaker, & Kane Vs. Stone Cold, DDP, and Kanyon. Nov 28 2003 (My hometown also) - Got to see the first Goldberg / Kane match and it was for the World Heavyweight Title. May 1 2004 (El Paso, TX) - Saw JBL job to Eddie Guerrero and Booker T job to The Undertaker in a Judgment Day preview. Clean finishes so no DQ or voodoo bag bullshit to deal with. July 30 - (Albuqueruque, NM) - Got to see the first Benoit / Orton World Heavyweight Title match coming right off the Benoit / HHH Iron Man RAW TV show earlier that week. It was basically how the SummerSlam match went except Benoit reversed an RKO attempt into the Crippler Crossface for the win. So basically with house shows, you never know what you're gonna get as they're always subject to change and sometimes its for the better.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2005 Almost a year ago, I went to a RAW House Show (same day as Great American Bash) and it was a pretty decent card (Edge vs Orton IC Title match and Benoit vs HHH for Benoits Heavyweight Title). Problem was the crowd was sparse and the only real time the crowd really felt like a crowd was after Benoit made HHH tapout. Two years prior, there was a SD House Show with a really crappy lineup (only highlight was seeing Rey Mysterio wrestle before he debuted on TV) but the place was pretty much packed since it was the first WWF/WWE show here in like 9 years or so. Comparison: RAW - 2004: La Resistance defeated Rhyno & Yoshihiro Tajiri to retain the WWE World Tag-Team Championship The Hurricane pinned Garrison Cade Eugene Dinsmore pinned Jonathan Coachman Kane pinned Matt Hardy Chris Jericho pinned Batista Randy Orton pinned Edge to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship Trish Stratus pinned Victoria to retain the WWE Women's Championship Chris Benoit defeated Triple H by Submission to retain the WWE World Championship SD - 2002 Hurricane Helms defeated Albert Cruiserweight Champion, Jamie Noble, defeated Billy Kidman Yoshihiro Tajiri and Chavo Guerrero Jr. defeated Rey Mysterio, Jr. and Shannon Moore. D-Von Dudley and Deacon Bautista defeated Randy Orton and Mark Henry Test defeated Nick Dinsmore Rikishi defeated Kurt Angle Faarooq, Rob Conway, and Sho Funaki defeated Billy Gunn, Chuck Palumbo, and Rico Constantino Hardcore Holly and Val Venis defeated Christian and Lance Storm in Canada vs. USA match Torrie defeated Dawn Marie in a bra and panties match Edge defeated Chris Jericho. I do think it was cool how the guys that were there in 2002 (Deacon Batista, Nick Dinsmore, Randy Orton and Rob Conway) changed in 2 years when they came back.. Guest JMA Report post Posted June 23, 2005 I'd really like it if house shows actually affected WWE storylines, it would really give fans an incentive to go. WWE could even record the best matches and release them in a video series (like in the old days). Or they could show them online like TNA is doing.
haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2005 My very first houseshow was at the Civic Center of Augusta, GA in the late 1980's. I dont remember the card, but the main event was The Ultimate Warrior vs Mr. Perfect. I also went to several WCW shows throughout the late 90's. The fun part about houseshows is getting to see guys that arent quite ready for TV yet. I saw (yay) Chris Masters wrestle about 4 months before he ever debuted on TV, and he was using a simple spinebuster as a finisher. Also, Muhammed Massan wrestled, and got a win over Rhyno with the worst roll-up I've ever seen. Anyway you look at it, houseshows are a fun experience, and I recommend you give WWE another chance.
