{''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 Namco x Capcom is a game I really hope makes it over here. Hundreds of fighting game characters in a srpg sounds like a blast. Plus, any game that finally gets Morrigan a new sprite is great.

Aero 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 I've never finished Metroid Prime despite being really far into it. I'm somewhere in the Phazon Mines after getting the power bombs. One of the reasons why is because I dread walking out of the save point room because of those bad guys that fall from the ceiling and are insane. They have their own evil music, too. I remember usually losing an energy tank or two just for them. Maybe I'll finish it one day. I think Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts would be one of the hardest games ever if not for the fact that they allow you to have so many credits/extra lives. I've been playing it lately, and here's some other thoughts... - The dagger and crossbow are the two best weapons, and everything else sucks, especially the axe, which actually gets worse as you update your armor. - The second level (ghost pirate ship / water rafting) is just really annoying to go through. While the raft level is actually pretty easy, it just takes too long. - Those red bad guys with wings that are found in the castle and toward the end of a few earlier levels are even worse than the bad guys mentioned above from Metroid Prime. - The boss from the first level, the giant bird that stretches its neck, wears a pair of torn pants... - This is easily one of my favorite games of all time, mainly because it was one of the first games I ever got for SNES. Addams Family for SNES is also a really great game.

Anya 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 How did Mr. X come back to life in Streets of Rage 2 and why is he a brain in a jar in 3?
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 ^^ Was this ever explained in Bare Knuckle 3? I know that, in changing to the US version of Streets of Rage, the developers look out a STACK of things that were included in the Japanese original, most famously Ash, the blatant homosexual stereotype. On an unrelated note, Midway says that Shadow Hearts 3 will likely not leave Japanese shores. Feel free to place any random expletives here.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 Oh yeah, and Australia is like America, only 6 months ago. I just got Dynasty Warriors 5 and am currently in a state of total bliss. Tekken 5 hits next week as well.
Anya 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 In Bare Knuckle 3 he just says the good guys killed him and left him a brain, but there's no explination for how he survives living in a jar. It's really stupid.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 Going back to the above mentioned note about Zelda's never again mentioned jerk brother from Zelda II, would the never mentioned again Agahnim from Zelda III be considered an ancenstor / decendant / based on (however it works for all the Zelda games taking place parallel to each other's storylines) the simply named "Evil Wizard" from Zelda II? AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 How did Mr. X come back to life in Streets of Rage 2 and why is he a brain in a jar in 3? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's kind of assumed you need to buy into the 50s sci-fi cliches, and that X's body was beyond saving, possibly in a coma after his defeat in SoR2, and that evil scientists working for him removed his brain from his body, hooked it up to electrodes, and viola, his brain lives on without a body. Apparently the system keeping the brain alive also allowed him to remote control his robot(s) from afar. However, considering that X apparently has scientists capable of making as many clones of his thugs as possible (at least I assume that with the Alien-inspired cave in SoR2 where baddies pop up out of nowhere), it seems kind of silly that he wouldn't have them clone him another body. Those old films often also use the conventions that, without a body, the brain is pure thought and cold logic. They're assumed to be thought unrestrained by emotions, represented by being physically separated from the heart. That's why you often see good people become eeeevil as giant brains in a tank, supposedly. Although there's still your already-evil folks, who just become less human and therefore supposedly more frightening as brains in tanks--like Mr. X. So--basically X becomes a brain in a box because the makers of the games were likely just sci-fi geeks at heart, even if it makes less sense than the previous games. translation of the original Bare Knuckle 3 story/cutscenes: http://www.classicgaming.com/soronline/sor...translation.htm And for more pointless trivia/dissection of the disembodied brains (and heads), this is interesting: http://www.jabootu.com/tshb.htm

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 I'd assumed it ran under the park, but you're right--it's even in the manual. Maybe X's enormous robot body was still in just the design phase?

And yes, Sonic Heroes does suck. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I tried playing tonight but no one was biting for me. I guess because I have no online stats cause Sega resets them. I played NHL 2K5 tonight and lost 6-5 in OT which I guess is alright. I wanted to win. As for Super Ghouls and Ghosts, I agree with the poster way above me, it's a great game. I have high hopes for Final Fight 3D (the new game, not the old fighting game.) I want Street Fighter 4 or another version of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. I have the PC, PSX, and XBox versions. I wanted the GBA version. Why the hell didn't the "original" Actraiser get a sequel? I have a God of War demo. I should probably play it. I have a Vietiful Joe 2 demo. I should probably play that. (That could be someone's Christmas gift.) I had friend who wanted to paint his room black and purple because they are the Gamecube's colors. Can't wait for the next Nintendo system.,
{''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 If there was a concrete Zelda timeline, it'd probably go something like this: TMC, FS, OoT, MM, TP, TWW, FSA, ALttP, Oracles, LoZ, AoL. Then again, they've been readily known to change whatever they feel like at the drop of a hat, so take it with a grain of salt. Agahnim is either a guy controlled by Ganon or Ganon himself depending on your outlook, so any relationship to the "Evil Wizard" would be unlikely.
Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 I just recently got Metal Gear Solid 2. I dislike Raiden. He's a dumb bishonen with the personality of a rock and I just like Snake way better. I learned much more about him in my short time with him than I have about Raiden because these is development of the character on the boat. Metal Gear Ray(or was it Rex?) reminds me of an Eva. I have rented both Madden 2005 and the 2005 ESPN game and despite having old versions of both engines, I find Madden to be extremely boring while I can have fun with ESPN. I also like how they have all of the forms of the jerseys in ESPN, screw having NFL Europe. The crib thing is dumb though. Why would I want to play celebreties in football? That wasn't executed well. Speaking of football, I want an ALF game. I for one am sick of these Streetball games, I want Midway to go and remake old school 2 on 2 NBA Hangtime or Jam with nor real changes, maybe new animations. Are any of the Gundam games any good? The last one looks real interesting to me as a fan of the series, because it looks like I could put Deathscythe vs. the RX-78(original Gundam) in 3-D space or something. I want to see Star Fox evolve beyond the rail shooter. I also want whoever came up with the ground missions in Star Fox Assault to die unless it was a temporary moment of insanity for Miyamoto or the other Nintendo gods. I also hate that they retired Peppy and put frickin' CRYSTAL in there. She was riding a dinosaur a year or two ago, and now she's a pilot on the most elite starfighter group in the Lylat system? Baloney! They had TWO perfectly usable female characters they could have put in, Katt Monroe and Fara Phoenix(Fara appeared in a Nintendo Power comic as a romantic interest for Fox). I want to see another old school Kirby game. I want AKI to make the TNA game, even if it has to be made by EA, I'd buy it despite my hatred of EA. As of two years ago, NBA Live was the same game I was playing on my Super Nintendo when I first rented NBA Live '96, which is in my mind the greatest basketball game ever made. I haven't bothered with the new games. How are the ESPN basketball games? Pro Race Driver is impossible to be good at, I think. Not without being a total gear head. MMA games suck. They always have and they always will. It just doesn't transition well to a game. I hate aiming my swing in baseball games. I want to buy a good new soccer game. When my little brother's friend sold us his broken PS2(we got it fixed for free by Sony by some miracle of God), he gave us World Tour Soccer 2002, and it remains our go to game when we get bored playing other stuff. I don't understand why WWF games post Shut Your Mouth don't allow one to put logos or text across the crotch area when real wrestlers have been doing it for years. They even have wrestlers in the games who do it(Rock and Mark Jindrak come to mind) Does anyone make really good platform games anymore? Mario Sunshine was so disappointing to me, and while I might check out Jack 1 or the platforming, the new ones go in a very differant direction from what I see, with more gun stuff thrown in. Just for kicks, I'd like to see a non porn dating sim make it to the U.S. A real one, not this crud that is going on the DS. Maybe Tokimeki Memorial or something. I want more Mario 64 style games, without a water pump, thank you very much. This is related to some previous statements I have made. I want a Daredevil game of some sort. I am bored with side scrolling fighter games, I think I played too much Super Street Fighter II and Alpha II back in the day. I can't think of anything else right now, catch you later

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 "Are any of the Gundam games any good? The last one looks real interesting to me as a fan of the series, because it looks like I could put Deathscythe vs. the RX-78(original Gundam) in 3-D space or something." If by "good" you mean a quality fighting game the likes of an SFII or something--don't count on it. However, a friend of mine has nearly all of the Gundam fighters that came out here in the States and plays them a lot. I could ask which he likes the most of the lot. Although for non-fighting games he says Zone of the Enders 2 smokes just about every licensed mech anime game he's played. "Does anyone make really good platform games anymore? Mario Sunshine was so disappointing to me, and while I might check out Jack 1 or the platforming, the new ones go in a very differant direction from what I see, with more gun stuff thrown in." Jak 1 is okay, but probably hard to play these days. Seems extremely generic and dated today. Jak 2 and 3 have fine storylines but they're like kid-friendly GTA games with too damn much collecting, racing, and stupid distracting BS involved in them. Jak II probably is the best one, since it has plenty of platforming and the "sandbox" style stuff isn't too irritating. Jak 3, on the other hand--I played about 3 hours of the game and hated nearly every damn moment of it. I think about 10 minutes of that time was actually spent in a real platforming section (IOW, not counting the sandbox city). Even the camera is flat out HORRIBLE in some areas, which wasn't really a noticeable problem in the first 2 games. It has weapons added to it, but they suck. However, the Ratchet and Clank games destroy them in every category but story. The Ratchet and Clank series is awesome. I'd recommend starting with the first one, then Going Commando, then renting Up Your Arsenal. Going in order allows you to unlock bonuses in the next game, and there's some attempt at "New Game +ing" going on, too. Up Your Arsenal rocks but it's much heavier on combat than the more platform-focused first two games. The Sly games are good but may be a bit too old school for some people's tastes. The Viewtiful Joe games are acquired tastes. Platforming/beat 'em mix that you should try first, then decide on.

When my little brother's friend sold us his broken PS2(we got it fixed for free by Sony by some miracle of God), he gave us World Tour Soccer 2002, and it remains our go to game when we get bored playing other stuff. Get World Soccer Winning Eleven 8 International: http://ps2.ign.com/objects/682/682523.html Nothing else comes close to its greatness. It's available on XBOX and PS2. XBOX version has slightly better graphics and online play, but the game is meant to be played with a PS2 pad so if you don't care about online buy the PS2 version. Once you have the game you should USE the training options and read the guides at GameFAQs. That way you get over the steep learning curve. And once you know how to play it's the best sports game on the market IMO.

Renegade 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 Wind Waker is so mindnumbingly boring after you take out the master sword. The dungeons have horrible designs and puzzles, you need to play a song in almost every room and the characters are lame (besides Tetra). Right now on the triforce pieces, so boring. edotherocket 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 The wireframe of the screenshot above: Bizarre Creations assures recent shots are genuine, using wireframe dev shots to prove point Liverpool-based developer - and one of many jewels in Microsoft's gold-plated crown - Bizarre Creations has released four new development shots of Project Gotham Racing 3, showcasing some amazing scenery detail. One of the shots was released last week, but was quickly dismissed by forum crowds. This prompted the release of three more images from Bizarre - two of which are wireframe development shots, provided to legitimise the others. "As a small gift to all of you who still refuse to believe that last week's image was a real screenshot, here we have the wireframe version of the same scene," Bizarre's online developer diary explained. "After reading the comments over the web (ranging from 'That's awesome' to 'That's a fake')," the diary continued, "we felt we had to release something which proved that we're not messing with you." So there we have it. Just look at these shots. This is what you're going to be driving past when you play Project Gotham Racing 3 on your brand new Xbox 360. Project Gotham Racing 3 will be available for Xbox 360. However, a release date is yet to be announced - Gamesradar.com
