AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 If I play a PS1 game on my PS2, will it let me use my PS2 memory card to save progress, or do I need a PS1 card? (and if I need a ps1 card, uh why, isnt it the same architecture? makes no sense) You must use a PS1 memory card. You can *store* PS1 saves on a PS2 memory card, but you can't use the data on there. I think it has something to do with the way it is formatted, but just remember you must save PS1 games on PS1 cards to work, and PS2 games must be saved on PS2 cards. PS3 will not accept either, so any PS2/1 game saves must be saved to the HD or memory sticks, or there may eventually be an external method of transferring saves on existing memory cards. Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 Lets hope that that happens, though by the time I decide to pick up a PS3, the PS4 will be several months away.

Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2006 Does anyone know of a site that lists games by very specific genres? I'm looking particularly for NES and Super NES sports games that would be divided by sport
Ced 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2006 Anybody else put games on reserve? I just checked my reserved list at GameCrazy. On my list: - Disgaea 2 - Harvest Moon DS - Victorious Boxers 2 - Phoenix Wright: Justice for All - Elite Beat Agents Pretty much all games that scream, "Buy me on the first run, or never see me in retail again."
devo 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2006 I've got Okami and Disgaea 2 reserved. If it counts, I'm also pre-ordering a Wii as soon as possible.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2006 "GTA: Liberty City Stories" for the PS2 is released today, I believe. Surprised there wasn't a thread for this.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2006 Hooray, a portable game ported to a console of one of the most drawn-out game franchises around! Has anyone else gotten one of these calls? http://www.penny-arcade.com/forums/viewtop...der=asc&start=0 A friend of mine who reserved Kingdom Hearts 2 did indeed get it as well. "It's an automated call by a woman who pretends to be named Aeris. Because, you know, she's named after a Final Fantasy VII character and thus lonely nerds will not hang up on her!" WTF GS?! I'm glad my EB doesn't do stuff like that...for now anyway.
devo 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2006 Yeah, I did! The woman didn't sound like Aeris, though, or say that was her name. Also, it was from EB, not Gamestop. And, since I had sold the game for $54 a week prior, I didn't take them up on their generous offer.

Good idea--I was thinking it would be smart for Disgaea 2 and EBA. I haven't had to chance to play the original PW, though. I passed considering most people said it was short and had no replay value. Is that fair or no?
devo 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2006 Yeah, it is. I had a blast playing the game the first time through, but had no desire to play any of the cases again after doing so. It's perfect for a rental.
Anya 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2006 Wow that's cool. I wish Aeris would call me! I would buy more stuff at EB if Squall would call.
Guest Smues Report post Posted June 6, 2006 Here's the important question : Did the Aeris that made the phone call sound better than the awful sounding Aeris that was in KHII?
devo 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 I don't have an answer for you, but I must comment on the sheer awesomeness of your new avatar and sig. But yeah, I must imagine it couldn't be any worse.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 Suikoden III and Star Ocean: Till the end of time Are these RPGs worth buying? I'm a big fan of PS1/2 final fantasies. Don't have much experience with PS2 rpgs (though I fairly enjoyed xenogears and grandia for ps1).
Guest NYankees Report post Posted June 7, 2006 Suikoden 3 is a strong B while Suikoden 5 is an A game. The only problem with each game is that they take several hours to get into. 3 is nice because it has 3 different perspectives. Star Ocean 3 is decent until you go wtf when you realize what the game is about.
Ced 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 AndrewTS: In Phoenix Wright, once you see the turnabouts in each case once, they're not worth going through a second time, but I found each case entertaining and worth the buy nevertheless. It has retained its value well so you should be able to pawn it off on eBay or Amazon for a decent price once you get done with it. And I always reserve the lesser known titles simply to guarantee that I get myself a copy, especially Nippon Ichi games. The wait and see approach never works because they're only 1 or 2 copies and nobody ever restocks once they're out.
Anya 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 I just now got around to looking at pics and reading info about FF XIII. The only thing I had seen before was a close up of the main character. I thought it was a guy. I'm happy it's a girl, that's what I've been wanting to see. And she even has a short skirt. Andrew you seen this? It's funny we were just talking about Ashe's. DS Lite? Didn't GBA Micro just come out? I had missed the buzz of this coming out. I can't believe they did another redesign of their portable hardware. It seems like it's a yearly thing now. I can't understand why gamers and the press don't call Nintendo out on this. Come on already...
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 And she even has a short skirt. Andrew you seen this? It's funny we were just talking about Ashe's. They were revealed at E3, actually. It's old news and I don't even really follow the series anymore. It's hard to believe Nomura's characters designs have gotten even lamer and more cliche since FFVII, but they have. It's also not one game, but at least 3 (although one is a mobile phone game). FFXIII : on PS3, another FF RPG. FF Vs. XIII: Also on PS3, its more "action-oriented." FF Agito XIII: A mobile game. It is rumored that they'll do like 3 more besides that too (maybe a PSP game included), but supposedly each game is centered around different characters, with different gameplay styles. Don't ask me what the hell they're trying to accomplish with this, though. An overview: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fabula_Nova_C...al_Fantasy_XIII DS Lite? Didn't GBA Micro just come out? I had missed the buzz of this coming out. I can't believe they did another redesign of their portable hardware. It seems like it's a yearly thing now. I can't understand why gamers and the press don't call Nintendo out on this. Come on already... To be fair, nobody cared about the Micro (which came out last year), and the DS Lite is the same price as the DS was. I wish there were a cheaper, smaller redesign of the XBox, but that's not happening for many and varied reasons.
Anya 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 I know it's old news. It's just new to me. I like the design of her that I've seen so far. I liked most of the FF VIII and X cast. Don't know about XII but I like Ashe's costume a lot. I would be afraid to buy a Nintendo handheld. I'd worry a redesign would be out a month later. Where is the Pink DS Lite? A small Xbox just wouldn't be a Xbox.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 Hey, these skirts are longer! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Agito.jpg Silly Anya, you have nothing to worry about. The first redesign of a Nintendo console is the "good" one (i.e. SP, DS Lite, Game Boy Color), the 2nd redesign is just making it impractically small (Micro, Game Boy Pocket). Just wait for the pink Lite. Oh, the SP got a subtle redesign of a brighter screen, which happened at around the same time the micro was released, but the Lite trumps them all. EricMM 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 Yeah but the thing about the Gameboy editions is that they are mostly for new buyers or people who REALLY REALLY like the new one. They work the same as previous years. Thus the same games work on the DS and DSL, etc.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 Yeah but the thing about the Gameboy editions is that they are mostly for new buyers or people who REALLY REALLY like the new one. They work the same as previous years. Thus the same games work on the DS and DSL, etc. The exception is the Micro. It plays GBA games and only GBA games. GBC and GB games don't work. Of course, they'd look ridiculous anyway, but since the DSes don't support GB/GBC games either, there's little reason to have the Micro when the DS was only about 30 bucks more. I'd probably get a Micro when I can get it for about 30 bucks, but otherwise no.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 The Micro was ever a fad and an ad directly aimed at iPod owners who never had a gameboy and wanted something lil and cute.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 The SP is slightly larger than my wallet, though. That's friggin' small enough. Of course, when you take into account the absolutely moronic product that is the Nano, it's surprising they didn't buy it up.
Anya 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 Hey, these skirts are longer! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Agito.jpg I like, except the cape. Who are they? From that versus game? Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 Got GTA: Liberty City Stories today. It's all coming back to me now from the first time I played this game. I always loved GTA III, and seeing the old setting again is good. The game plays well, and Lazlow brings the goodness again with the talk station and commercials. The Paramedic missions will always be a pain in the ass though.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 I gotta bitch for a second. So I went to EB yesterday to take advantage of their sales that I posted earlier. I get what I want and come to the counter to pay. The guy goes into the same spiel that he gave the guys ahead of me about their whole "Edge" card and all the savings I can get from it, blah blah. I politely listen and then tell him I'm not interested today. His answer? (With a confused look and in a smart-ass manner) "So you don't like saving money?" What the fuck? A simple "Ok, but consider it for the next time you come here because it's a good deal" would have been fine. Don't get prick-ish with me because I'm not falling over myself to save $5. Seriously, I would have done it the next time I went there, but that guy's attitude just turned me off from it immediately. Though happily I did trade in 4 games I barely play for MGS3, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and NCAA Football 2005 and only paid $25. That should tide me over for a while. I'm only a couple hours in, but I already think MGS3 is the best of the series....and I haven't even reached one of the much loved boss battles yet.
