Terrell Owens: Headed to Raiders?

RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com

Thursday, June 30, 2005

Update: A report has surfaced that the Eagles are in negotiations with the Raiders on a trade that would send Owens to Oakland for Jerry Porter, according to ABC sports.

Recommendation: Randy Moss told reporters Wednesday he could co-exist with Owens as long as he receives the number of passes he deserves. We doubt that the two receivers would get along in Oakland but the Eagles appear to be so upset with Owens that they would be willing to put the best two receivers in the league on the same team. This would initially cloud the value of both players but stay tuned for more rumors."

I don't know how serious these talks are, but if this ever happened, The Raiders could seriously have the best offensive team in recent NFL memory. Two of the best recievers in the modern era, a potentially 1,000 rusher, and a quarterback who isn't an accurate passer, but his arm is one of the best in the league.

And I will love every second of it.

I hope the 3 and 4 receviers on Oakland didn't want to catch any balls.

Randy Moss has worked well with a superstar WR on the other side of the field before and perhaps was at his best during that phase. I wouldn't worry about Moss's behavior here, It's TO who likely wouldn't accept that he isn't the best WR on the team and complain about it.

Al Davis is most likely the ONLY owner whose own ego would outshine those two collective egos combined.

Moss has more team playerness about him than TO. He played well alongside Carter even though the two didn't see eye to eye on everything and the last 2 years has played decoy and had some spectacular results. (that flip over the shoulder lateral was absolutely sick) TO is the guy who, if he doesn't start getting the ball, starts to bitch and if things start to go downhill, rolls everyone but himself under a bus for the blame. Moss just seems immature to me, whereas TO seems immature and selfish.

As of right now, Kerry Collins is penciled in as the starter. Everyone seems to think he'll get the job done, especially since he loves throwing the deep ball and now has deep threats, even without TO.

Oh wow, you guys beat me to it. This deserves its own topic.

Anyways, wow that really says a lot about T.O. that, despite him being an immensely gifted receiver and arguably one of the best in the league, every team that gets him gets tired of him and wants to get rid of him. The Niners did everything they could to appease Owens, including getting rid of Garcia and replacing Mariucci, both of whom had clashes with T.O.. And he still bitched and wanted to leave. He got a chance to play with an amazing team in Philadelphia, with a good quarterback, great coach, everything.

I think Green Bay should shop Javon Walker while they're at it. But it seems that, since Javon is so intent on holding out, the Packers are the ones who have the leverage here since 1. Walker is signed through the end of the 2006 season, and 2. A year or two out of football will only hurt Walker's career, after having one great season. That sucks for him.

So yeah, fuck Drew Rosenhaus.

I think we can all agree Drew Rosenhaus might be Satan and the Poston Bros. might be his minions as far as player agents.

So what does that make Scott Boras?

I'm not that familiar with the exploits of Scott Boras. I do know that Rosenhaus and the Brothers Poston are turd burglars.

Oakland might want to worry about their defense first. Although if this deal did go through, watching the Raiders/Chiefs matchups would be mighty fun with their 66-63 final. I wouldn't want to watch the ESPN guys call any Raider games, though.

However, I doubt this goes through. Does Oakland even have the cap room for TO?

This trade won't happen, considering that if they did it about 90% of their salary would be locked into Owens, Moss, and Sapp.

Though it would be fun to see because there would be a good chance of a fight between Moss and Owens breaking out at midfield during a game.

Don't forget Charles Woodson as well.

I still think Sapp should've signed with the Bengals last year, really.

Owens would run over Lito & Sheldon, but then get knocked silly by Dawkins, oh and lets not forget Owens adventure after challenging Sean Taylor last season which will be fun to see again this season.(Assuming Taylor plays this year, ugh).

Sounds about right. Dawkins > The Eagles CBs.

Scott Boras is on another plane when it comes to asshole agents. He's the worst.

I think the Bengals were lucky they didn't sign that turd

Don't forget about Michael Lewis, who can lay a pretty good hit.

However, it seems as though these rumors are just that, rumors. But if it did happen, LaMont Jordan could easily get 1,600-1,800 yards, just because the defence would have to double cover at least one of the two recivers on any given play.

Just a note on this, the "source" that broke the report was WPVI, the local ABC affiliate. I do not recall them ever breaking anything other than most blow job pieces done in a single training camp. So this should probably be taken with less than a grain of salt.

Another reason this does not work, not only will TO's contract hamstring them, Porter's new deal would too. If they trade him, IIRC, his whole signing bonus that he just got will collapse into this season's cap. I don't see how they could possibly make it work without releasing 80% of their roster.

And Owens would decimate Lito, I think Sheldon could hold his own because he is physical, but Lito would get humiliated.

I hope you seriously don't think they would care. We're talking about Al Davis.

They are talking about it on Mike and Mike.
