Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 speaking of Eugene, Eric hated his nephew and didn't want responsibility for him. This was the golden opportunity kayfabe wise for Eric to rid himself of his nephew. Eric didn't, and doesn't want Eugene on Smackdown. That was made clear. At Summerslam, when Eric was talking about getting rid of Eugene, Teddy Long approached him and said that's fine, Eric could get rid of Eugene, and on SD there would be a contract right there waiting for him, and he would make Eugene the biggest star there is. And pretty much..Eric said 'fuck that'. (not his actual response of course, but you could tell he'd just rather keep Eugene on RAW, and keep an eye on him, because he doesn't want him to be sucessful, in kayfabe)
justcoz 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 There is no reason they shouldn't have sent Tajiri to smackdown considering they sent chavo over to raw. It could have been kayfabed that Long wanted a CW in exchange for the lost of Chavo. I don't see how any of these trades directly would work with each other. Meaning why did Eric want just one Basham? why not take both and offer an extra wrestler? William Regal was the only logical trade since it could be implied he was doing it to get back at Regal for siding with Eugene last summer but that whole plot point vanished a long time ago. speaking of Eugene, Eric hated his nephew and didn't want responsibility for him. This was the golden opportunity kayfabe wise for Eric to rid himself of his nephew. Conway should have been sent over and allowed for Dupree/Grenier to team as Le Rez. and this means another year of waiting for Haas/Benjamin. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, I was really hoping we'd get Charlie Haas and Jackie on Raw too. What amazes me is that WWE creative is so uncreative that they couldn't have made an interesting weeks worth of television out of these trades. This would have added some storyline logic to the talent switching brands. With all of the talent in one arena this past weekend, they could have played on backstage segments with each of the GM's maneuvering for certain stars. Simple things like Teddy Long approaching Simon Dean and Stevie Richards about the JBL/ONS incident and asking if they'd like retribution for their friend - then dealing one of the Bashams and Jindrak. Bischoff approaching Chavo Guerrerro and reminding him that he was responsible for making Chavo a name on Nitro and he'd like an opportunity to do it again on Monday Night Raw, getting him out of Eddie's shadow. Bischoff dealing Regal, out of spite for his work with Eugene. Bischoff telling Renee Dupree how he hated losing him in last year's draft and dealing away Sylvan and Candice to get Renee back. I didn't like the draft setup at all this year. Last year they had a way of making each talent exchange a big deal. Making it feel like Smackdown acquiring Renee Dupree was a huge deal. I loved the exchanges with Bischoff and Heyman again and would really like that GM rivalry again, especially considering how it could play off of the ECW PPV. This year, there wasn't any direct play between the GM's and the lower card talent were treated like.... well, lower card talent jumping to another show... Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 You haven't to realize though, this ISN'T Heyman/Bischoff. There really is no real heat between Teddy and Eric..other then 'hey, youre the GM of other show so I hate you'. And there's really not much 'playing off' they can do with that I'm sure. And it probaly would have came off horrible. And I think, you know..they're trying not to mention the ECW PPV. The PPV should tie into no storylines. It was called, One Night Stand. And Barring the occasional reference, like with RVD this pass week, there's no point in really bringing up. Hell, I don't even think that many people know about/care about the Meanie situation. So IMO, Teddy going up to Dean, and Stevie, asking if you want 'retribution' for your friend makes no sense. Especially since technically...Nova, and Simon Dean aren't even the same people. slimm44 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 After thinking about it for a while, I think these trades were made because the draft was mostly 'big name' picks and the midcard didn't go anywhere until now. However most of the people traded tonight will not be on tv unless they pull a Shelton Benjamin
Guest JericholicEdgeHead Report post Posted July 1, 2005 I don't see how any of this really matters since none of the guys traded to RAW will get much TV time other than Heat duty or being the victim of a squash match on RAW since all the TV time will go torwards Diva Search crap, Triple H and whoever he is feuding with...and the all the "sports entertainment" segments. WWE has forgot how to build up the low-mid card talent that doesn't have a pair of boobs. Plus none of them will be featured on PPV's. When was the last time Steven Richards or Simon Dean was in a PPV match?? For that matter when was the last time a low-mid card talent has even had a match on a PPV (Not counting ECW ONS)?? That spot usually goes to Diva matches or a lame Jonathan Coachman match. The one guy I can see being pushed on RAW is Jindrak since Vince and company likes guys with his kind of "look"....which is bland as sh*t if you ask me. It will be interesting to see how many of the "traded talent" will be released over the next couple of months.
AlaskanHero 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 RAW Jindrak: Chris Masters has a tag partner now. Or at least some one to feud against over who has the best body. And didn't people say they wanted him in Evolution? Sure, why not, stick him with HHH and Flair. Rene Dupree: Since Rene is still representing Franch and Conway is a French Sympathizer representing Quebec, I don't think they're pair them back up, but this is WWE so odds are we'll see them together very soon. Danny Basham: I've heard good things about the two as singles competitors. Maybe they'll get a chance to show off some of this skill. Kenzo Suzuki (with Hiroko): Maybe he and Rene will team back up again. Hell, maybe him and Tajiri will be paired together. Why the hell not? Chavo Guerrero: This one is pretty damn confusing. I guess the Mexicools will be focusing their wrath upon London instead. Chavo will probably flounder for a while before being paired with someone and getting a tag title reign. SmackDown! William Regal: This sorta takes away anyone for Eugene to turn on. Candice: Well, she is eye candy. Might as well stick her with the rest of the eye candy. Sylvain Grenier: Yeah...he's doomed. Simon Dean: Like Exslade said, in kayfabe, Simon Dean and Nova aren't the same person so he'll probably just be doing the same thing he was doing on Raw. Are there any fat people on Smackdown? I can't think of any off the top of my head. Steven Richards: They'll probably bring up the Blue Meanie/JBL next Smackdown. It'll set up a match and one of two things happens. 1.] JBL squashes Richards (most likely) or 2.] Batista (or Simon Dean) comes out, does some hi-jinks, and costs JBL the match. Pick the one that'll help you sleep at night.
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 Will they finally defend the tag team belts on Raw? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They have been..? I for one thing the tag titles are doing fine on Heat. Just wish there were more teams to switch the matches up with. But, for like the last 2 weeks, they defended the titles on Heat, but before that, they had a few title defenses on Raw I'm pretty sure, and even had a 4 way or something on RAW didn't they? Plus none of them will be featured on PPV's. When was the last time Steven Richards or Simon Dean was in a PPV match?? Be careful what you wish for...Don't forget Stevie's last PPV match at Unforgiven. I wont even go into detail. For that matter when was the last time a low-mid card talent has even had a match on a PPV (Not counting ECW ONS)?? That spot usually goes to Diva matches or a lame Jonathan Coachman match. That's usually what the Heat PPV match is reserved for.. People already complain about PPV matches not being long enough, I don't think anybody'd be to happy to see say.. a Simon Dean or Mark Jindrak match on PPV. Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 simon deans last ppv was at Backlash, bringing his grand total of wwe ppv matches to two (the first being the rumble match) as it has been said simon and nova are not the same person according to wwe, despite the fact that at ONS, nova lost his do-rag and simon dean with a painted on beard was revealed. as for the trades, color me underwhelmed. But I guess that was the point, as they got to move more people outside of the 5 draft picks. So the Bashams are split? with no revenge match against jbl and OJ in the books? hmmmmm

Guest QUP2CME Report post Posted July 1, 2005 Seriosuly some of these trades suck. I would have gone for: SD!: Tajiri - Could of gone back to the CW division. Formed his only little stable with Akio and fueded with the Mexicans. Tomko - No explanation needed Shelton Benjamin - Could become a big star if given his own thing to do. Stevie Richards - Where all the ECW guys are. Simon Dean - See above Raw: Jindrak - Could form a Tag Team with Masters. Morgan - Carlito's bodyguard Haas - To balance Benjamin coming over Rene Dupree - Wasn't doing much on SD. Kenzo Suzuki/Hiroko - Could have the HUGE push they were planning for him. Only joking. Enhancement Talent at best

Guest seth86 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 Well now that Haas is not leaving SD!, they should give him a nice push. Let him go after the US title. Orlando's doing nothing with it anyway. Scroby 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 Now that the draft is now done, I must say this draft sucked. The whole week by week thing was pointless. Probably would have had more impact if it was done all on one show. Most of the trades are basically pointless. Regal, Nova, and Richards are the only three I mainly understand. If anything it'll get Richards off heat, maybe he'll get stuck on Velocity but its Smackdown so its a bit iffy. Kenzo with whats her name,....seriously who cares? What was the point of moving Dupree and Grenier around? Conway should have headed over to Smackdown, and why the hell wasn't Tajiri traded? Seriously are the WWE Writers stoned to retardation? Did they not watch the ECW ppv? You have two guys who put on fantasic freaking matches and you leave them seperated, holy shit what are these people on? Sorry I just had to rant...the draft sucked this year.
iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 Now that the draft is now done, I must say this draft sucked. The whole week by week thing was pointless. It made things fresh again. That's what this company desperately needed. While I was in favor of moving Michaels and Jericho to SD, I can live with what they did. The week by week thing was a good idea to try out and spread the wealth instead of just blowing their load on one show and popping a big rating just for a draft. They got semi-good ratings for the month of June instead. The trade wasn't going to be anything blockbuster anyways, so that's really no surprise to me. My main beef with the draft was it was totally unrealastic. For the most part, all the picks where either big names, great wrestlers, or soon-to-be stars. You can obviously tell there was nothing random about it, even as a mark. I think what's going to be more intresting is the cuts they are talking about. Especially since Heat and Velocity got cancelled.

Guest JMA Report post Posted July 1, 2005 I'm glad that Doug and Danny are singles wrestlers now--I never really cared for them as the Basham Brothers. Hopefully they'll change Danny Basham back into the Damaja. I don't think we'll see Rene Dupree team up with Rob Conway again. The entire "evil Frenchmen" gimmick has run its course. Besides, Conway deserves a singles run with a credible gimmick. As for Dupree, I see him dropping his gimmick and instead becoming more like "The Model" Rick Martel. I don't know what they're going to do with Grenier. I could see him becoming the "evil Smackdown referee" again (this time working for JBL). They need to team up Stevie and Nova (he'd drop the crappy Simon Dean gimmick), hire Meanie, and reform the bWo. It'd certainly make Smackdown more interesting. The fact that they kept repeating 'Anyone can be drafted!' and that it ended up being only upper midcarders was a tad unbelievable (statistically, one of the Diva search rejects would be guaranteed to be drafted given that there are about 500 of those), but I'd still take the 2005 draft over the irrelevant 2004 draft any day. You're right, Bischoff and Long don't have any real heat, which is one of the reasons this draft didn't compare to last year's with Bischoff and Heyman wwe.com just acknowledged the JBL/Meanie thing on their website this week, a website which is designed towards the marks, they have a DVD to push with JBL doing alternative commentary, they could have easily played into the angle for a one shot trade explanation, and this could have been the perfect opportunity to rid Simon Dean of the Richard Simmons gimmick moving to Smackdown. Even if their arrival to SD only resulted in JBL squashing both of them, it makes more sense than a trade without any explanation.
Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 Chavo gets shafted, they likely miss another opportunity to give Conway a singles run, and the majority of everyone else are likely guys to be gone if the rumored roster cuts are true. Regal could maybe be OK on Smackdown, otherwise who cares. Some 'blockbuster' trade, 11 people switch shows yet absolutely nothing of even remote consequence will change as a result, the jobbers just get to job to different wrestlers now. Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2005 Why does everyone assume automatically that Rene and Conway are teaming up? For one, Rene represents France, and Conway represents Quebec now. Plus, for all we know, Conway could be on the list of fired people...doubt it, but I'm just saying. He could still get a singles push, but weren't those only rumors? Who's to say he would have got a singles push even if he weren't on a show with Rene or Sylvan. I for one wouldn't mind a Conway/Rene team (since people were saying the shows need more teams), although with his new porn star look and every thing, I'd much rather see Rene get a singles push, he should have won the US title way back when anyways.
