Due to the release of the Road Warriors DVD, I thought i'd make a list of my top 10 tag teams

10. The Wild Samoans- 3 time WWF tag team champions, trained many stars, first truly great tag team

9. The Rockers- no title wins but great chemistry. Also, had great individual stars.

8. The Hardy Boyz- 5 time WWF tag team champions. Constantly put on classic matches.

7. The Steiners- 5 time WCW tag champions, 2 time WWF champions, great chemistry.

6. Harlem Heat- Another team of brothers with great chemistry, 10 time WCW champions.

5. Hart Foundation- played great as heels and as faces, 2 time champions, great chemistry

4. New Age Outlaws- great entertainers, great as heels, 5 time WWF champions

3. Edge and Christian- incredible entertainers, put on great matches, great individual ability, 7 time WWF Champions

2. Dudley Boyz- Titles, Titles, Titles, only team to have ECW, WWF/E, and WCW championships,8 time ECW, 9 time WWF/E, 1 WCW

1. The Road Warriors- great entertainers, only team to hold the big 3 championships, 2 time WWF, 1 time AWA and NWA.

If you want to do daily or bidaily top 10's respond so.

Posted

1. 4 Horsemen - Tully & Arn the #1 heel team in NWA/WCW

2. TIED Rock & Roll Express and Midnight Express - The influential small tag teams that spawned many copycats.....gotta love the double team moves

3. Road Warriors - The big man team that everybody copied. "Well...Tell Them Paul"

4. Dudley Boys - Did a damn good job copying the Nasty Boys and Public Enemy all the while pissing off the audience. Probably will be remembered as the team that did table spots.

5. Hart Foundation - I think I would go with the stable of Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart, Owen Hart, the British Bulldog Dave Smith.

To be honest I can't think of anymore teams since tag team wrestling has been dead for years. I would list more but wrestlers don't stay together as a team for years anymore.

I won't rank them now, but a top 10 for me would include the following teams:

The Steiner Brothers

Road Warriors

Arn/Tully

The Dudleys

Edge/Christian

Harlem Heat

The Outsiders

Rock and Roll Express

Midnight Express

Rockers

I swear I was thinking it last night during the Road Warriors Commercial as well, but was too drunk to do anything about it.

8) Elimintaors.

7)Harlem Heat

6) New Age Outlaws.

would anyone likw to do a series of "top 10" lists

10 Demolition - Started as a Road Warriors ripoff but they made it work and got/stayed over for some time. Really good team chemistry, surprisingly good matches.

9.Edge and Christian - So much charisma, great matches, managed to get over during a hot era for wrestling.

8. Arn Anderson/Bobby Eaton(the best tag team workers to ever live) > Arn/Tully > Arn/Larry Zbyzko > Eaton/Regal

7. Fabulous Kangaroos - The greatest team ever for about 35 years.

6.Hart Foundation - Brets great workrate was nicely complimented by the hoss Neidhart.

5.Steiner Brothers - Behind the Bulldogs, probably the most talented team ever.

4.Blowjobs - The Rock N Roll Express > The Rockers > Fantastics > Hardy Boyz

3.Road Warriors - So good they developed a huge cult status. Terrible workers, no sold everything, poor when they went solo...but as a team it was just near perfect.

2.British Bulldogs - Probably the most talented tag team ever.

1.Midnight Express - Even against jobbers they were entertaining. They had great chemistry (both incarnations) and worked well with everybody. They were so over as heels that it forced a face turn. They were undeniably cool.

In no real order...

British Bulldogs

Funk Brothers

Steiners

Rock N Roll Express

Midnight Express

Arn and Tully

Dudleys (Buh Buh and D-Von, but the Snot Dudley and Dudley Dudley combination came close ;) )

Misawa and Akiyama

Kawada and Taue

Bruiser Brody and Snuka

EDIT: Argh! Can't believe I forgot the beyond awesome Miracle Violence Connection! Terry Gordy & Steve Williams have to be included, probably inplace of Brody and Snuka. Hollywood Blondes (The Austin and Pillman incarnation) would be 12th.

Since I was never a huge 'workrate' fan as a kid, some of my choices are teams from the 80s that kind of sucked at actual wrestling.

In no order:

Road Warriors

Koloff & Kruschev (fuck it, add Ivan, too ... Koloffs & Kruschev as a 6-man)

Freebirds (Hayes, Gordy & Roberts)

Studd & Bundy

Miracle Violence Connection

Hollywood Blondes

Tully & Arn

Sheepherders (not the Bushwackers, though)

Midnite X-Press (Condrey-era)

Dynamic Duo (Adams & Hernandez)

Would find it difficult to limit it to 10 and impossible to put in order.

Midnight Express(Lane/Eaton version)

Hart Foundation

British Bulldogs

Demolition

Rockers

Windham/Rhodes

Road Warriors

Benoit/Malenko

Steiners

Dangerous Alliance(any combination really, had a lot of good 6/8 man tags on Worldwide)

Doom

Williams/Gordy

Demolition

Rougeaus

Edit: Sadly I've only seen WWF, WCW(Worldwide from 90-92 and 96-01 with odd tapes like GAB 89 and Capital Combat 90) and limited ECW(00-01) so my list is heavily WWF 80s biased.

I can't believe that there are so many people here who think that there have been ten teams better than the Hart Foundation...

Is this a list of who we think were the greatest teams, or just our personal top 10 list? I personally recognize the Hart Foundation as being a great team, but they bored the piss out of me. I didn't ever root for them or against them. I dug them as heels, but that was more me hating their opponents than liking them.

:: shrugs ::

I'm not criticizing anyone's opinions, it just surprises me; anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm a huge tag team mark, and while I've seen most of the teams mentioned in this thread (except for the puro), the Hart Foundation stands alone as my personal favorite. I didn't expect anybody else to rank them as their favorite, but it shocks me how many people didn't rank them at all.

There's a few teams that were awesome as wrestlers (or especially as a team) but really did nothing for me as a fan. The Steiners are another perfect example of this. Even when they were stiffing the shit out of people, I didn't give a crap about them.

EDIT: and I went out of my way to specify that I liked shitty wrestlers.
