DerangedHermit Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Raw got a 2.6 rating on Monday credit: Dave Meltzer <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ouch. Even though it was 4th of July - ouch. When was the last time it was that low?
CBright7831 Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Fuck. HHH will be on our TV six or seven times in two hours when he returns. Fuck all of you for going out, shooting fireworks, and having a shitload of fun. Assholes - the whole lot of you.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 That was better than I was expecting considering the date and time.
Guest *KNK* Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Which makes the decision to finally turn Shawn heel on what is traditionally besides the xmas episode, the lowest rated show of the year all the more confusing.
snuffbox Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 The way the wwe writers think they probably felt a big swerve like HBK's turn could somehow pop a rating. If it doesnt make sense to anybody, it probably makes sense to them.
Guest Mosaicv2 Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Sweet Jesus. That's like 1997 low. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 1997>? how about early 1996 low.
Dandy Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Since we no longer get quarter hour breakdowns, have the highest and lowest segments been reported?
Danville_Wrestling Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 I remember in 1997 the ratings for shows were around the 2.5 range.
SuperJerk Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 The way the wwe writers think they probably felt a big swerve like HBK's turn could somehow pop a rating. If it doesnt make sense to anybody, it probably makes sense to them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because TV viewers have psychic powers that tell them which segments they will like ahead of time so they'll know to tune in to them. Duh.
razazteca Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 What a surprise....people actually go out on hollidays. Oh and having more than one talk show segment kills ratings and the Diva Search segment took too damn long. Here's an idea next week do Fear Factor and make the girls eat camel dick or something.
Open the Muggy Gate Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/whiteright It ain't Kerwin's fault the ratings sucked. He's apparently the most popular name on WWE.com right now. I know it's off topic, but hell, this column made me laugh my ass off.
BUTT Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 The last time the Raw rating was this low (except for the annual Christmas recap show) was November 3, 1997.
Guest *KNK* Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Man, Michaels is gonna be PISSED. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hogan is the one to blame here. The 4th of July show is always low rated but not this low. They hyped Hogan for a week hoping to draw the same ratings or even exceed it but no one bit and less people tuned it. They could almost pretend it didn't happened and most of the fans will never know it occured.
Guest Brian Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 God, I wish HHH was all over this show with the Hogan hype and big Michaels angle failing. All of it failing together would have made my day.
SuperJerk Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Hogan is the one to blame here. The 4th of July show is always low rated but not this low. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When was the last time the 4th of July fell on a Monday, exactly? Have there even been that many 4th of July shows from which we can make comparisons by?
Guest Phoenix Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 There was a 4th of July show in which Angle fought Taker for the belt. It is where Angle was pinned as Taker is tapping out. That match set of a 3 way dance somehow I think. I also believe that is the night Edge/Hogan won the Tag Straps and they played Real American at the end of the night. I just remember saying it would be random if Angle got a title shot on Smackdown, and then won the belt of 4th of July.
Dandy Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Well, every year a specific date is one day of the week ahead from the previous year. That would put it in a cycle of happening every 7 years. However, you have to factor in leap year. When leap year occurs, you have to go back 2 days instead of one. Leap Year was in 2003, 1999, 1995 in the context of Raw. July 4th, 1994 was the last time it was on Monday, if my calculations are correct. Anyone that is curious enough to check it out can.
Downhome Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 They promoted Hogan as being on this past RAW? I know he was there last week, but anyone could have taken that as yet another "one shot" thing.
Dandy Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 I was correct, and here are the results of that July 4th Raw: JULY 4TH 1994: Tatanka pinned Jeff Jarrett Jim "the Anvil" Neidhart pinned Gary Scott Duke "the Dumpster" Droese pinned "Iron" Mike Sharpe The Fake Undertaker pinned Mike Bell
Mole Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 It was on July 4th. Most people were out getting boozed and watching fireworks. Next week it will be right on track.
JJMc Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Leap Year was in 2003, 1999, 1995 in the context of Raw. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, the last one was in '04, so it's 2000, 1996, 1992, etc.
Dandy Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 Leap Year was in 2003, 1999, 1995 in the context of Raw. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, the last one was in '04, so it's 2000, 1996, 1992, etc. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, my mistake on that. I put down the wrong thing off the top of my head, but did it the right way when figuring it out. For those anticipating when we can compare another Fourth of July Raw, here are the next 7/4's: 7/4/06---Tuesday 7/4/07---Wednesday 7/4/08---Friday 7/4/09---Saturday 7/4/10---Sunday 7/4/11---Monday So, in 6 years we can see if the WWE runs a major angle to close the show, and what their ratings are in relation to their average at the time.
Guest Mosaicv2 Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 That show looks about as good as monday's. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> or even better.
Guest news_gimmick Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 I was correct, and here are the results of that July 4th Raw: JULY 4TH 1994: Tatanka pinned Jeff Jarrett Jim "the Anvil" Neidhart pinned Gary Scott Duke "the Dumpster" Droese pinned "Iron" Mike Sharpe The Fake Undertaker pinned Mike Bell <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'll bet this was a barnburner. I always marked for Mike Bell matches.
