Faces getting heavily booed

Any examples of a crowd turning on a face and booing loudly? If so, what was the reaction of the face ?

 

The obvious example that inspired this thread is the Rock at Wrestlemania 18, receiving audible boos whenever Hogan was overpowered, despite the fact that Hogan had been a clear-cut heel up to that point. Rock clearly seemed unprepared for it, although he appears to win back their favour by the end of the match. A more straightforward example is Steiner at Royal Rumble '03 and No Way Out '03, where the crowd mercilessly booed Steiner and caused even Triple H (of all people) to receive face pops at the conclusion of both matches.

 

What else ? I'm particularly looking for examples of faces being booed while giving a promo, can anyone name any? I'm sure there were some with Shawn Michaels in Canada, although I can't pinpoint any of them offhand.

Shelton Benjamin/Carlito at Vengeance. They boo Benjamin whenever he takes control over Carlito. Pretty big Carlito chants start.

 

People cheering for Batista which causes Batista to turn Face and win the World Title.

When Brutis Beefcake showed up on Raw at the Manhattan Center to set up his appearence at WM IX he did an in ring interview where he talked about how after the boating accident distroyed his face he got slapped with divorce papers by his wife and then his parents died. Apparently after Brutis told this story you copuld hear someone in the crowd yell "kill yourself".

Edge was booed all the time last summer. During his match with Orton at Vengeance, the fans were chanting "Let's go Orton", and Orton was the heel. Then, at Summerslam, he was being booed by the 'bizarro' crowd, but he was facing Jericho of all people.

Have you ever noticed how the annoucers always play up how MSG "loves" Shawn and has the heel he faces always cut an anti-MSG/New York promo before the match? It happens EVERY time he has a match there, too.

 

Anyway, I'll throw out Rocky Maivia. He received a ton of backlash from the fans for being "That 80's Babyface."

The Renegade vs. Paul Orndorff, BATB 95'

 

Everyone was booing the hell out of Renegade, even when he won, so Orndorff did a pearl harbor which caused the crowd to pop loudly, and then did the Ordnorff Piledriver onto the then World Television champion.

Judging by the 'Greatest Stars of the 80s' dvd the crowd popped when Flair beat Dusty with that stupid Frazier stoppage at Starrcade 84.

Great American Bash '89. When Rick Steamboat challenged Lex Luger for the US title, for some reason Steamboat (who only a few months before was wildly cheered in his feud with Flair for the NWA World title) was booed as the face while the heel Luger was cheered like crazy.

A big part of the crowd was pro-Flair during the series, though. It was backlash due to Steamboat's character being such a pussy.

 

My favourite is still Breakdown '98, where Ken Shamrock gets monster heat while The Rock gets the babyface pop of the century.

Demolition was cheered over Strike Force at Wrestlemania IV.

Undertaker always got cheered during both his initial heel run in 1990-91 and his most recent in 2001-02.

Chris Jericho was constantly booed during his initial face run in WCW, especially when up against a popular heel like Benoit or Guerrero.

Randy Orton was booed at Royal Rumble this year against HHH.

The MSG crowd popped pretty huge for HBK's win in the first Elimination Chamber at SurSer 02. Then again, when he did the spring up for his babyface comeback at WMXX, they booed the shit out of him, so make of that what you will.

Probably most of MSG was rooting for Benoit in the Wm match, especially since he had never won a world title before (outside of his WCW title quicky). It depends on who is in the crowd.
