Dream home locations?

Recommended Posts

Not sure where to post this but here's a question for ya guys:

If money was no issue, and you had no other issues to settle and you could move ANYWHERE in the world, where would you like to move to?

I'd like to move to Barbados, where my grandmother lives.

Honestly, maybe it's just me being homesick, but I've traveled a fair amount and I really can't call anywhere but SoCal home. I'd probably like to have a nice, comfortable house near L.A., and close to the beach.. Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, Ventura, even up towards Santa Barbara wouldn't be too bad at all.

Pacific Northwest. I love the hell out of the area. It's beautiful, it rains all the time, not too much happens, which is good for me. Cost of living's reasonable, even though money isn't supposed to be a concern.

Barring that, Finland. Because there, really nothing happens. I kind of like to be left alone, and have nothing ever happen, and Finland is the pinnacle of that. Only thing that's ever happened about Finland is a Monty Python song. Which was kind of about how nothing happened there. And they have nice vodka, so doubly so. If I couldn't live in Oregon, I'd live in Finland.

An underground bunker and network of tunnels in Alaska, or else next door to Milky.

America. No question.

Not sure where I'd want to settle. If the better half was with me I wouldn't move from where I am now. However, if I hit the lottery before I met her here's my thinking:

South has hurricanes, North has snow. Midwest has tornados, Northwest has rain. I guess I'd probably stay in PA, although I'd probably move more toward the center of the state, or perhaps Ohio. The Southwest seems appealing, but with the Mexicans coming over and water shortages I think I'd rather stay away...

Why are you going to judge where you want to live based solely on the weather alone? There's good and bad weather everywhere. I never understood that line of thinking.

When I moved back to SoCal from Miami, I hated how everyone said, "Oh yeah I understand it's because of the weather." ...Ugh. Yeah it sucks when it gets REALLY hot and humid like it is now, but at nightime there's a cool ocean breeze and it's nice and warm... and it's nice sometimes for it to be warm in the winter as well, though I prefer the cold. But the point being, you're gonna have things you like and things you don't like about wherever you're going, and there's going to be times when the weather's great and times when it's positively awful no matter where you are.

I'd probrably live somewhere in the Northern California area, (alright, Sac-town or on the outskirts) perhaps the Bay Area (where I live now, but the cost of living is outrageous)

Second choice would be Pacific Northwest, either somewhere in Oregon or Seattle.

Raymore, Missouri.

And I'm not just saying that because that's where I just moved.

No siree, Bob.

Because hurricanes and tornados aren't my thing. I also said I didn't want to live around Mexicans, if that makes you feel better...

My ex was from Ohio. I liked it there.

That's all I've got.

As for the topic, I'm comfy in the Niagara region, maybe Victoria or Vancouver BC, or in the Maritimes.

Having said that, I'm getting to Augusta, Georgia before I die.

Close to where I am now, but in a more secluded area.

The numerous hurricanes suck, but in the winter it's nice. It's typically 65-70 degrees everyday, practically no humidity. The only thing that sucks about the winter down here is the fucking TOURISTS. ARGH. But, there's a downside to everywhere.

Out of every place I've ever been, I still love my home state of Tennessee the most, so I'd probably get me a bigass mansion (an exact recreation of the one in the first Resident Evil game, minus the monsters and lethal traps of course) way up near the top of Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga or somewhere similar.

Oh, on the contrary, I think adding monsters and death traps would be a wonderful addition. Think about how unique a place you'd have.

Pacific Northwest, maybe Canada in Vancouver or somewhere in Alberta, or because I enjoy it too much here, a plot of land in the foothills or the outskirts of the suburbs/metro area.

I wouldn't reccommend Ventura, despite its nice looks. (I live about 15 mins from there in the Hueneme Beach Area). And santa barbabra from best I can tell is filled with zombie like posers. lol as is ventura. (its got a lot of white trash IMO)

For me, here in Cali I would say Thousand Oaks, CA cuz its nice and quiet and pretty much safe (despite the rich people). But its real hot so maybe not

Though I do like living here in the beach area cuz its not that hot and often rather cool (and cold at night)Or perhaps the bay area up north

If I could ,I would move back to NY but upstate so I could be away from the ghetto areas but close enough to my family and roots. (actually I am likely moving back to my old area shortly but I wish I could move to a nicer part) Or maybe a penthouse or loft in Manhattan so I could be like JBl lmao

Hey how about living in Stamford, CT next to Vince? That would be quite humorous. Imagine the block parties lol

I've stayed up in Ventura and Santa Barbara dozens of times, and I love it. Port Hueneme is far south along PCH from what I recall, then there's Oxnard and finally Ventura... and yeah Oxnard is pretty much shite, so I'm not surprised if you don't like it in the Hueneme beach area, but I absolutely adore Ventura. I lived in Santa Clarita (where Six Flags Magic Mountain is), and I took this highway that went through Fillmore, Santa Paula, and endless orange groves until you finally hit PCH/Ventura simultaneously, and I usually got off at like the first or second exit from getting on US-1, and I love that whole area. It's great.

My ex lived in the Thousand Oaks/Oak Park/Simi Valley area, and while it's nice and EXTREMELY safe (not as expensive as you'd think), it's pretty boring and kind of seperated from the rest of LA (not that Ventura isn't obviously, but it's just down PCH or the 101 to hit up the city). Not a big fan of living in NoCal, but it's nice to visit, particularly if you have friends up there already. One of my best friends from high school lives in Goleta and goes to UCSB, trust me, Santa Barbara is VERY nice and beautiful, but expensive to live in.

Either the more upscale area of the Sacramento suburbs or closer to the Bay Area and family. I'm not one to lift my roots up and move about.

Scotland, anywhere because of the many golfcourses around int the area.

New Zealand. I've always wanted to travel there or live there after retirement.

Bermuda. No one goes to Bermuda.
