EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 I figured I would get an official discussion thread going. Tonight is the night the baseball world basks in Bobby Abreu's reflective greatness.
the max Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 7/10 AL starters are from the AL East. Only Teixeria, Vlad and Buehrle are from different divisions. I'll be watching, I guess. I like that there are 22 players who have never been here before, it gives the game a different look.
Bored Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Take a drink: Everytime Joe Buck says "most of you may have never seen *insert player's name* play before" Everytime any Fox crew memeber says "This One Counts" Take 10 drinks: Every Scooter segment. Take 20 drinks: Everytime Tim McCarver mentions Derek Jeter.
Mik Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 I know most people get tired of it, but I love the All Star Game. I just hope it's a decent game.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Abreu leads off for the NL. So we'll see what he can do.
the max Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 If Abreu homers to leadoff the game, they should give him the MVP award.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 12, 2005 Author Report Posted July 12, 2005 I'm going to write about this in the blog later, but I'll pose the question now. Does anyone think the All-Star game would be better served by reducing the number of players on each roster?
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Yes. I think 1 starter and 1 backup each position (5 pitchers) is enough. It gives off the real "All star" feeling.
The Czech Republic Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Take 20 drinks: Everytime Tim McCarver mentions Derek Jeter. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Dear lord, you'll kill us all!
Guest StylesMark Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Take 20 drinks: Everytime Tim McCarver mentions Derek Jeter. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've got to work tomorrow. No WAY!!!! EDIT: Damn you!!!!
Bored Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Apparantly Jeanie Zelaskowhatever has been knocked up by Rupert Murdoch, otherwise how would she still have a job? Struggling Braves team? What the hell is she talking about? The best feel good story they could come up with is David Eckstein being a midget.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 13, 2005 Author Report Posted July 13, 2005 All-Star AIM chat tonight at TSMBaseball.
smh810 Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Apparantly Jeanie Zelaskowhatever has been knocked up by Rupert Murdoch, otherwise how would she still have a job? There are worse people out there than Jeanie Zelasko it does look like her water's about to break though.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 13, 2005 Author Report Posted July 13, 2005 And Mark Fidrych! They are bringing out the perfect personalities. I notice they reduced the size of the target slightly.
the max Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 That guy couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.
Bruiser Chong Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Nice to see Ernie Harwell. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Too bad he got cut off after about 15 seconds. Why have him on there if you're gonna barely let him speak?
devo Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 That was the British National Anthem? I could swear that was "My Country 'Tis of Thee".
Big McLargeHuge Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 It's amazing how meaningless the Home Field stip is when your team isn't a contender.
KingPK Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 That was the British National Anthem? I could swear that was "My Country 'Tis of Thee". Both songs have the same melody, but different words. The British anthem is called "God Save the Queen".

MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Eric Bedard threw 5 IP 0 ER 3 hits 1 BB and 9ks and the Shorebirds won.. And then I found out Tejada hit a HR..
Big McLargeHuge Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 What a non-game. And man did LaRussa fly threw pitchers or what? I wish the NL would at least TRY to make it competitive.
Boon Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 Early votes for MVP? Ortiz - 2/3 with an RBI Tejada - 1/3 with 2 RBI Ichiro? Teixeria?
