Guest StylesMark Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Yankee bats were lookin good last night. Hopefully Moose can bring a quality start tomorrow.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 I can't say I like the Gerut/DuBois trade for the Cubs. DuBois can not field at all, but he is a legitimate power threat. Gerut is just a league average corner outfielder.
Bruiser Chong Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Like I said, I hope this isn't the big trade everyone was waiting for the Cubs to make. It doesn't make much sense, either, since they've brought up Murton, who has been doing a nice job in left. Dubois never got a chance with the Cubs, so I guess I'd rather see him with a team where he'll get one. Hopefully Gerut's just trade bait for another team, although realistically, Dubois was probably better trade bait, so Hendry could just be a dumbass.
Vern Gagne Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Twins have wasted 5 quality starts from the starters since the break. 2-3,2-3, 5-4(only 1 er run)1-2, 2-3. The offense is absolutley atrocious.
Guest StylesMark Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 I finally broke down and ordered the MLB Extra Innings package from Comcast. All it took: 1 day of the Yankees in first place in July. Weak I am. The Yankees may acquire Byrnes. I'm unsure of how to feel about this.
Brett Favre Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Depends what we give up. If it's some average minor league prospect, sure. We need all the depth we can get. He has some range in the outfield.
DerangedHermit Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Mets bat Wright 5th and Piazza 6th tonight against the Pads, hell freezes over Also, the Red Sox get Hyzdu back yet again, DFA Embree and trade for Tony Graffanino

He has some range in the outfield. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know he'll be good in the field. But I don't want to give up any young guys like Wang or Cano. If this year has proved anything, it's what we've known all along: Build for the future. But nobody thought the reality of aging would slap us like it has this year.
devo Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Mets bat Wright 5th and Piazza 6th tonight against the Pads, hell freezes over <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hopefully they keep 'em there. It's a hell of a lot better than batting Wright 7th.

Where did you hear this; is it close to happening?
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Chien-Ming Wang is NOT the type of player the Yankees should be withholding in trade talks. He's 25, had good but not outstanding minor league stats, and he's injury prone. If the Yankees can deal him for a useful player like Randy Winn, they should bite.
Guest StylesMark Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 The last thing the Yankees need to be doing, is trading YOUNG picthers. Wang was the ost consistant guy in the rotation, granted, it was only for a few weeks. I saw something about it on ESPN.com. Hopefully Cano stays. He surprises me with his bat all the time, but needs some serious fielding work. I'm sure in time, he'll be real good.
Guest Fishyswa Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Moose is looking alright tonight, laboring a bit but getting it done so far. Giambi forgot he's slow and potentially cost us a run in the 2nd, but he still got a hit so it's forgiven.

I always wonder if he's a robot. Giambi got GUNNED down by Matthews Jr.
devo Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Christ. Mets have RISP with one out four innings in a row and can't drive anyone in. Pathetic. Game's going to extra innings.
Mik Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Delgado and Cabrera just hit absolute bombs on back to back pitches. Then poor Mike Lowell hits a rocket up the middle that Craig Counsell makes a diving stab at and turns a double play. Lowell must be on the verge of suicide right about now...especially with the thought of playing in Pittsburgh.
KingPK Posted July 20, 2005 Author Report Posted July 20, 2005 Whoo, Red Sox back in first place! *Shoots off cannons and fireworks* Seriously, and I KNOW it's the Devil Rays, but Schilling seems to be looking better and better, hitting 90 regularly again. Hopefully he'll be back in the rotation sooner rather than later.
devo Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Woodward hits a two-run walkoff home run in the bottom of the 11th. Mets win. =)
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 And Ryan Howard hits a walk-off home run in the tenth to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 victory.
Spaceman Spiff Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Ryan Howard hits a two-run walkoff home run in the bottom of the 10th (after a Pat Burrell lead-off TRIPLE). Phillies win. Sit Thome for the rest of the year. Viva Ryan Howard.
fairtoflair7 Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 And the Yankee bullpen proceeds to blow the game giving up a 2 run shot to Blalock.....
Fartsauce Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 For anyone watching the Phillies game tonight, did you notice those 2 guys in the crowd eating the hotdogs? They had a makeshift scoreboard set up and they would each try to eat one dog an inning. They were tied at 10 in the 10th so I don't know who ended up winning.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 BJ Ryan blows his 2nd straight game and this time the Os lost it 4-3. Bleh.

They showed those guys about a month ago as well. It's a running competition apparently. Rich Harden is delivering another gem, no runs and two hits through five.
NoCalMike Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Dan Johnson homers for the A's in the top of the 7th to put the A's up 3-0.
Damaramu Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 It just seems that most people are talking about it like it's Yanks/Sox fighting for first and the O's are nowhere in sight. I'm just reminded of the spot from the Angle/UT/Rock match where UT and Rock are staring off while Angle jumps around trying to be noticed.
snuffbox Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Well holy shit...Milwaukee comes back from being down 4-0 to beat the Cardinals 5-4.
Vern Gagne Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 BJ Ryan blows his 2nd straight game and this time the Os lost it 4-3. Bleh. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> About fucking time the Twins won. Joe Mauer is really starting to look like the next big thing. Too bad Justin Morneau should be sent down to Rochester.
