NoCalMike Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 A's up on the Tigers 7-5 going into the bottom of the sixth......Will the A's hold their WildCard lead and Close the gap on the division to a mere 3 Games?
The Czech Republic Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 It'd be remarkable if they did. I wonder how they'll do in September, traditionally their big month.
Bored Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 Harden and Zito both pitched like crap the last two days and they are down to two healthy outfielders (Marco Scutaro started in left field today) but they still win. Angels lead is now 2 1/2 games.
MikeJordan23 Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 Manny Ramirez got pulled from the lineup...
Cartman Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 Well the last few hours there were MANY reports that the trade involving manny was dead... Just a few minutes ago Manny was pulled from the lineup... I'm gonna cry if the Sox trade BOTH Ramirez's
Bruiser Chong Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 Now they're saying they won't be trading Ramirez.
Guest Brian Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 I think they're playing with everybody, which would actually be kinda funny.
devo Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Hahaha, god dammit. The Mets are a joke at this point. Two runs given up by Pedro over eight innings and you can't deliver? Fine, whatever. One run over seven innings from Glavine and you can't even threaten to score once? Absolutely pathetic.
Brett Favre Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 They really need to make that Manny trade, so what just happened these past 2 days doesn't happen again.
Bored Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Randy Winn traded to the Giants for Yorvit Torreabla and Jesse Foppert. There is something wrong about a team 13 games under .500 being buyers.
KingPK Posted July 31, 2005 Author Report Posted July 31, 2005 EDIT: What Bored said. I really wish they'd just kill this Manny trade already and hold off until the offseason, though Manny and cash for Cameron and Milledge is better than the previous proposal.
Bruiser Chong Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Not so much when the first place team is a game under .500. I don't think the Giants are legit contenders, but yeah, their in a pathetic division. I find it funny that they dealt their good, younger catcher.
Big McLargeHuge Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 See. All the shit talking I do about Brian Sabean is justified. Foppert was an overrated prospect as far I was concerned, but I really liked Torre. At least Winn is a better outfielder than Alex fucking Sanchez.
Brett Favre Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Jose Cruz Jr. was just acquired by the Red Sox. Nice move. I was hoping the Yankees went after him.
KingPK Posted July 31, 2005 Author Report Posted July 31, 2005 Jon Papelbon is being called up to start tomorrow. Should be interesting what he brings to the table as he only gave up 1 run in three of his four AAA starts, striking out 21 while walking only 2.
Cartman Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 I can really understand why people despise Red Sox fans... Arrogance at it's finest: SOSH Board Drivel
Guest Brian Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Marlins acuired Ron Villone from Seattle for two minor leaguers.
Bruiser Chong Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Cubs en route to losing the four-game set with the D-Backs. Only the Cubs could give up a grand slam with two outs to the number eight hitter batting in the low .200s.
Guest Brian Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Braves picked up Kyle Farnsworth for Ramon Colon and Zach Mnos.
Guest Brian Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 White Sox pick up Geoff Blum from San Diego for Ryan Meaux.
bob_barron Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Braves picked up Kyle Farnsworth for Romon Colon and Zach Mnos. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Interesting trade. Colon was horrible in the pen, but did welll as a spot starter. Doesn't sound like Mnos did much in Richmond. Was hoping we'd get another outfielder but oh well.
Bruiser Chong Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 ESPN is reporting that Matt Lawton has been traded to the Cubs. No details on who yet, but I'd imagine Gerut would be involved.
Bored Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Just love watching all the ESPN "experts" harping on teams not trading prospects. Also Harold Reynolds relating a story being traded by the Padres (who knew?) and reveling in a 3 for 5 Spring Training game against them was just truly sad.
jimmy no nose Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 ESPN is reporting that Matt Lawton has been traded to the Cubs. No details on who yet, but I'd imagine Gerut would be involved. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, ended up being Lawton for Gerut and some amount of cash.
Bruiser Chong Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Sorta wish they would've added another reliever, but with Lawton in there, Todd Hollandsworth should not start another game this season. There's absolutely no excuse for him to be in there with Lawton and Murton on the roster.
Bruiser Chong Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 I should add that the Angels have looked like ass against the Yankees. Cabrera should've had that grounder that would've ended the game. Instead, he bobbles, they tie and eventually win in extras.
cabbageboy Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 You know what's funny? I bet Farnsworth will stop sucking with the Braves. Though I haven't heard much out of him with the Tigers this year (good or bad) until the fight recently.
devo Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Mets win 9-4 despite Ishii starting for them and Oswalt starting for the Astros. I'm still very disappointed with the Mets' performance on this road trip, but at least winning today keeps them somewhat in contention at four games out of the Wild Card. They've got a six game homestand coming up (and I'm going to the games on the second and the third ) and they've gotta get four or five wins out of it.
Guest Smues Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 You know what's funny? I bet Farnsworth will stop sucking with the Braves. Though I haven't heard much out of him with the Tigers this year (good or bad) until the fight recently. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 2.32 ERA in 42 2/3 IP with 55 K's and 20 BB. I'd say he's already stopped sucking, and I'm worried he'll return to his cub form as a Brave.
KingPK Posted July 31, 2005 Author Report Posted July 31, 2005 Well....that was quite a day at Fenway. Papelbon with a pretty good start and Manny returns to win the game. I have a feeling that the Sox are going to take out whatever frustration they have on the Royals this week.
