Keep the hall of fame steroid free...what I say

Does this really surprise you people?? Chrissake's, a LOT of professional athletes are on steroids!

I'm in utter shock, I really am. I wanted to believe Raffy when Canseco accused him and even if he was using you'd think he'd quit knowing they were testing everyone. The sad part is this destroys his HOF chances. I spent all month arguing with people saying he was "borderline" by touting his accomplishments and was sure he'd be in first ballot, now, I really don't know. It sure gives the anti-Raffy HOF crowd ammunition. This sucks. :(

What's stupid is that Raffy knew he was a lock already despite what some idiots felt and he was pinpointed by an admited abuser and convicted felon of being a roid user...

So he continued doing it? I can get the young kids doing roids, but Raffy was in the twillight of his career and walking into Cooperstown

A small part of me wants to believe this is a set up from Bud and MLB to "prove" the effectiveness and credibility of the policy by nailing a potential HOFer.

But the truth of the matter is, He did it and was dumb enough to get caught.

Giambi's next, followed by his suicide.

Posted

Everyone already knows Giambi did it, it's not like people have such a high opinion of him that getting popped would ruin his reputation. What's the worst that would happen? 10 games, oh no, don't do that you big bad baseball men. Instead, as long as he doesn't get caught, he's smacking the ball around like a champ. Upside > Downside here.

What are you talking about? I'm FAR from a Yankees fan but Giambi obviously cleaned up and is now performing near his peak level again. No idea what you're saying here.

I hope this is sarcasm.

I must be out of the loop or something.

Indeed.

I'm not accusing anyone, but Giambi is ATLEAST 25 pounds heavier now then the start of the season. And that's a generous number. Not accusing, just somewhat insinuating, there's a possibility. It's not like this hasn't been talked about.

Why is Palmeiro going to be in the Football Hall of Fame? The Baseball one is in Cooperstown.

I was watching something about the NFL HOF on tv as I was typing this and got my wires crossed.

Actually, Giambi looks the same since the start of the year. It was last year that he looked like hell. This year he looked in shape, just had a horrible start.

I figured. I was just playing around. :)

Hahaha. I have nothing against Palmeiro, but he is seriously a fucking moron for continuing to sue steroids after being accused earlier this year and denying it.

I know that has been previously stated, but I had to get my shot in.

Does the testing policy test for all types of steroids? Are all types considered to be "performance-enhancing" drugs?

...because the steroids he tested positive for, were probably those that help with older players that play through minor and major injuries (Palmeiro, Clemens, etc.). Those allow you to stay injury-free, or at least maintain your body at a high level for a long time. Not all steroids are bad, dude.

I wonder if he can be brought up on perjury charges?

If they were sworn under oath, Congress will do it just to look like the good guy in this situation. The whole 'testifying' thing was bullshit, anyway, so I doubt that the media will care.

I just want to know WHAT he tested positive for. Cause there are cases, like in the NFL where players test positive for illegal substances, and it was some obscure suppliment that was way at the bottom of the huge list of stuff you can't take.

I highly doubt he was roiding up. I would put my money on some over the counter suppliment and he got a positive test. The fact he originally appealed before saying "Oh...yeah...okay...I accept the penalty then" sounds like that.

That's not the issue, though. A lot of substances which are banned in sports can have positive effects. Whether wrong or right, if they're against the rules, the player who violates the policy should be punished according to the standard that has been set.

The original post was wondering why he'd do it at this stage of the game. Even if it's a banned chemical or not, the practice of those types of steroid is commonplace in professional sports. Hence the punter from the NFL testing positive. For example, I took similar steroids to rehabilitate from a wrist injury in high school to race back to the basketball team quicker. It's just that the banned list in MLB is so comprehensive, that shit will get cracked down, whether you know it's illegal or not.
