Guest Fook Report post Posted August 3, 2005 WWE.com reported Dusty Rhodes meeting with Stephanie McMahon today. We have no other details other than the company has been adding a lot of writers of late, but it's also known they want him for their legends program. Rhodes has floated to WWE being interested in working on the writing end since he was fired/quit by TNA as an on-air performer. - Meltzer Despite all the Dusty finishes we would get, at least there might be a chance of War Games happening. pochorenella 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 From PWInsider: As reported earlier, Dusty Rhodes had a meeting scheduled with Stephanie McMahon today. It appears as if WWE is interested in bringing him into the creative team as well as having him be involved with the Hall of Fame, their Legends program, and promoting the upcoming [bold]Four Horsemen and Starrcade DVDs[/bold] I already posted this on the Bret Hart thread, but since they started a separate thread... RedJed 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 I haven't really been watching TNA at all. How would Dusty work in a GM type of role? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> His TNA writing was alright, but it was more the workers busting their ass than anything. It was a large step above the writing from Jarrett and Mantel but just about anything would have been, The current TNA committee of writers seems to write a little more cohesive and generally interesting angles/storylines/programs than Rhodes did. To be fair though, he was in the crosshair of top level politics from Jarrett and Co. during his booking tenure, so its hard to say if he was responsible for such idiot moves on not capitalizing on Monte Brown as a strong babyface or not, for example. His GM role was the most annoying of all of his booking since he had two chicks ,who he wouldnt be able to even attract in the first place, vying for his attention by competing against each other in numerous skits/storylines. With all of this said, I dont see what he could offer to the WWE creative team, and I know he HATES being on a committee so it would be pointless. If you are going to go back to the past with some names to help in creative, bringing back Heyman and Cornette to WWE creative would be a much more plausible move. Hell, even Russo would probably be better as a writer than Rhodes at this point.
Guest J0bber Report post Posted August 3, 2005 This is good news. I'd rather see a Dusty Finish than the predictable matches we've been getting on television every week.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 If Russo's Born again Christianity is to be believed, I couldn't see him lasting very long with the current WWE product. I just saw Russo on the Ultimate Insider's DVD and on the extras, he wouldn't stay to watch a death match tournament because it was against his morals. Does that sound like the Russo we all know and hate?

Smackdown: Michael Cole: "Haha, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back as me and my partner Tazz call for you the "Smackdown Matches" here at SummerSlam! One story that's been brewing is the rivalry between Jillian and Torrie Wilson! Well, get this, and wow, Tazz, this is going to be GREAT! It's a "First Lady Out of the Men's Room Match", here at SummerSlam! Haha! What a great night, only a match that "Smackdown!" could bring you! Dusty is found on the toilet, causing Jillian to lose after attempting to eat her face, mistaking her growth for a mustard covered pretzel. "My God, Tazz! The American Dream is on Smackdown!" Fökai 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2005 Any word on matches for the Starrcade dvd? Horsemen dvd? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nope, but it's because they're still a bit away from release. According to PWInsider, the Horsemen DVD will be released in the first week of November, while the Best of Starrcade comes out in the first week of December. IIRC, both are double-discs. The Decemberists 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2005 So which was it? Did TNA fire him or did he quit? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think they fired him as the booker, and then he quit the booking committee he was put on about 30 seconds after being appointed. Not 100% sure on that though.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2005 I'd just reissue the Best of Starrcade 1983-87 double set. That stuff is quite excellent and let's face it by 1989 Starrcade was crap anyway. Hell, 89 was a goofy concept show with singles and tag round robins, so there wasn't much of anything there. 1990 had the goofy Black Scorpion thing and a tag tourney of little regard. 1991 had something lame, like a lethal lottery or something. 1992 sucked ass. 1993 had Flair and Vader so there's something, rest sucked. 1994 had jack shit. 1995 yet AGAIN was a concept tourney with New Japan vs. WCW. After that I'm honestly drawing a blank for 1996 but there was likely some pointless but solid cruiser stuff. 1997 was a hideous show that was supposed to be WCW's big death knell on the WWF, but they blew it. 1998 had some nice cruiser stuff at the beginning but you KNOW they'll focus on Nash/Goldberg. 1999 didn't have shit. 2000 had some decent cruiser stuff but not much else.
