CanadianChris Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 The A's host the Angels in what looks to be the first really big series (at least in the AL) this year, starting tomorrow night. Who would have predicted two months ago that we'd be saying that? Also, the White Sox visit the Yankees and Red Sox in back to back series, in what could be an interesting preview of the postseason.

Who would have predicted two months ago that we'd be saying that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm jazzed about the series. I'll prolly go to Wednesday's game. Of course, ESPN will devote 45 seconds to covering it so they can get back to Sox/Yanks, T.O and whoever is making "insensitive remarks" that day.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 Also, the White Sox visit the Yankees and Red Sox in back to back series, in what could be an interesting preview of the postseason. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> *Does the Regal sobs after losing the European title to Jeff Hardy*
Guest *KNK* Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 It's early but the cubs are just looking crappy here against the reds.
Boon Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 Lots of offense in the Sox/Rangers game. Would be an even higher scoring game if not for a blown call at 2nd.
the max Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 Plus Kapler being called out at first on that double-play in the 7th, despite having touched the bag a full second before the ball got in Tex's glove.
The Czech Republic Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 Cubs dog it for eight and wake up in the ninth after it's 9-0. They've gotta be trying to get their skipper fired.
The Czech Republic Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 I liked how Dusty was really into tonight's game! So yeah the Cubs are closer to the Reds than the Astros. Delightful. I feel that a sweep has gotta close the book on Baker.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 Rivera has been looking like a Cy Young candidate all season long.
MikeJordan23 Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 Cardinals top pitching prospect Anthony Reyes gets the start tonight. I never got to see him before tonight, and all I know is what I hear. I'm hearing good things about him, eventhough recently he's run into some trouble in Triple A. We'll see.
CanadianChris Posted August 9, 2005 Author Report Posted August 9, 2005 The Red Sox picked up Mike Remlinger from the Cubs for prospect Olivo Astacio. I'm not sure what to think of this trade.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 I think the Cubs should just see how many games in a row they can lose. It'd be much easier than ever winning another game again.
jimmy no nose Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 Kenny Rogers was just reinstated 7 games early by an arbitrator. Didn't see that coming.
Fartsauce Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Some fan fell into the backstop at the Yankees game. I've seen it all now.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Did anyone just see that kid at Yankee Stadium fall from the upper deck behind homeplate and onto the net that covers the crowd? Wild.
Guest *KNK* Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 They must show that on Sportscenter tonight.
MikeJordan23 Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Great debut for Reyes. 6 and 1/3, 2 h, 2er, 5 ks
sfaJack Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 I'm sure ESPN can fit the kid falling into the net somewhere into their 2 1/2 minutes of Yankee highlights tonight.
The Czech Republic Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Fit? It's gonna lead off the damn show. It will shown several times, and will be followed by expert discussion and analysis by a New York public safety official, Harold Reynolds, bench coach Joe Girardi, and for reasons wholly unbeknownst to anyone, Stephen A. Smith.
Guest Fishyswa Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 ^Christ you guys like to exaggerate. I've never gone from !!!! to ____ so quickly.
Bored Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 A's are down 7-0 in the 2nd inning. I know they were bound to have a game where EVERYTHING went wrong but what a game to have it happen.
Mik Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 3 hit CG Shutout tonight for AJ Burnett - who has won 5 in a row...looking dominant in just about all of them. He claims that he is going to do everything in his power to get the team to the postseason. Good thing he didn't get traded.
Fartsauce Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 I've been watching the Mariners game tonight and this Hernandez kid looks sharp so far. 6 IP, 5 K, 3 H, O ER. Of course, his team has not given him any run support and it's 0-0.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 I'm sure ESPN can fit the kid falling into the net somewhere into their 2 1/2 minutes of Yankee highlights tonight. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I dont think it will be played as many times as that guy bending over the railing for the foul ball and his pants coming off.
CanadianGuitarist Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 A's are down 7-0 in the 2nd inning. I know they were bound to have a game where EVERYTHING went wrong but what a game to have it happen. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What exactly happened? I worked late and missed it, but anticipated a hell of a rubber match between Lackey and Harden. 5 run second inning off a guy with a 2.05 ERA in his last five? The fuck?
