Guest Biggles Report post Posted August 26, 2005 With Punk, Gibson and Spanky gone to the E, ROH needs some new blood. The topic is simple enough, who would you like to see in ROH now, for one-shot or long term deals? Here are some of my picks Kevin Steen - He's the breakout indy star of the year. Currently holding the PWG title which he won from AJ Styles, Steen has heavily impressed me with his great work rate. He's larger than the average indy worker but still manages to go in the ring for long matches. Heavily popular with the majority of the internet crowd, Steen could do big business in ROH with the sufficient build up. He's much like Super Dragon in terms of being a dick and resembles Colt Cabana in more ways than one. Vordell Walker - He's appeared more than a few times in FIP and like the above mentioned Steen, has impressed with his good size and work rate. I can see him very successful in ROH where similar guys like Samoa Joe have gained popularity. Push him and watch him shine. Milano Collection A.T - With all the talk about CIMA and Shingo coming into ROH, I wonder how Milano hasn't gotten his name involved as well. A Toryumon graduate, Milano is one of the best Junior Heavyweights today. Wrestling a tremendous Lucharesu style as well as having more charisma than 75% of the American guys today, Milano would be THE ultimate addition to the ROH roster. He's wrestled for CHIKARA in the States too so experience wouldn't be much of a problem. KENTA - As we all know, ROH is bringing in Kenta Kobashi. The greatest Junior Heavyweight in the world today, the GHC Jnr. Heavyweight champion would absolutely sell out any ROH show. His ring style is only described as a cross between Low-Ki and Austin Aries and is considered by many as the man who has conquered Jnr. Heavyweight wrestling and he's only 25 years old! As Kobashi's portege, KENTA is immensely popular in Japan and has probably more female fans than Jeff Hardy. He's one half of the world's greatest tag team with Naomichi Marufuji and has proven he can wrestle anyone. He's wrestled Super Heavyweights in the form of Jun Akiyama, Yoshihiro Takayama and Kobashi himself and they were all superb matches. Having a Kobashi-like deal with KENTA would be one of the greatest things ROH has ever done for American wrestling.
tpww7 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2005 Steen and Walker already have gotten on the badside of most ROH fans because they havent shown much in their matches. Edit: The additions of guys like Sal Rinauro and Double C is a right step forward in adding new blood.

Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2005 If ROH wanted to use Milano Collection AT they already could have had a chance, he was wrestling in the US a while ago (in Texas if i remember correctly) so i'm surprised they didn't bring him in for a show then. Double C is a great addition to ROH's roster, but they should really promote from within as well as bringing in new guys. Matt Sydal has been ready to be in full time for a long time now, hopefully joining Generation next is a sign he's going to be used alot more now. Delirious too needs to be moved up the card and put on every show he's available for. Reportedly he's been just about the most over guy on some recent ROH shows he was on, he can do great comedy but has also gotten really damn good in the ring over recent months, he's a highlight on every indy show he does these days, Delirious is really a guy that could be doing alot more for ROH than just appearing in undercard comedy matches on midwest doubleshots. Not to mention Bryan Danielson's return is just on the horizon as well, American Dragon will take away alot of the pain of losing Gibson, Spanky & Punk. He's wrestled for CHIKARA in the States too so experience wouldn't be much of a problem. Actually it was MilanITO Collection AT that wrestled for CHIKARA a while back, though the real Milano IS going to wrestle for CHIKARA on upcoming shows so hopefully ROH will being him in for a show or two then. The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2005 Yeah, Kevin Steen's pretty good. I wouldn't like to see him get a mega-push right off the bat, but Steen vs. Samoa Joe could be good. Delirious- one of my favourite indy workers. How could anybody not like the guy? They need to push him more. Puma- very good. He needs to move up the card a bit. Lionel Knight- local worker who had an excellent match with Austin Aries last night. I really enjoyed it. Josh Prohibition and M-Dogg 20- two guys who could be a good addition to the tag team ranks
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2005 Delirious- BAH! BAH! Pure awesome. Eddie Kingston- A great heel, great brawler, underrated wrestler and seemingly getting better. Cheech- Push him! Jigsaw- Probably the best CHIKARA wrestler atm. Given a chance he could do well in the lower-card. Tyler Black- Danny Daniels' trainee, he's had some good matches with Matt Sydal and others in the IWA. Might need a little more ring experience first though. Fro 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2005 Sydal's an IWA-MS guy for one. I believe the reason he hasn't been brought in full-time is he's still in college and just works limited indy dates.
Guest JebusNassedar Report post Posted August 29, 2005 ROH has GOT to stop acting like Joe and the Pitbulls are the only good things out of SoCal. Ryan would be a PERFECT GenNext fit. It'd give him the exposure he needs to get over in the Tri State. (random bullshit about Scott Lost) Chris Bosh is the most awesome motherfucker in the world, as is Super Dragon. Hell, Dragon was asked to come back. And Dragon >>>>> Steen. Plus, their ignorance of CHIKARA has to end as well. They have two total gold mines and they're ignoring them. It's infuriating. Bring back the Round Robin Challenge. Or, put PWG and CHIKARA teams in next years Trios Tournament. Also, Chris Hero.
Guest JebusNassedar Report post Posted August 29, 2005 On a side note, I need someone to sell me on Kevin Steen. I've seen three matches from the guy (vs. Fred La Merveille, Excess, and Damien (the hyped one)) and he has sucked in each and every one. I've also seen every guy in different matches, and liked them decently enough (although Damien aggrivates me a little). What's the deal? What's so special here? If you can, check both his matches on the New Year's Madness 2005 DVD (vs. Samoa Joe, El Generico and ExCesS 69 and vs Austin Aries). They are really worth it (dvd available at smartmarkvideo.com in the IWS DVDs section).

It was bad. Because of him. A guy that does innovative moves and cant make them work in a match like Steen means shit to me. What's the point of the Steenalizer? Or the Package Piledriver? Both are moves that a perfectly placed Piledriver can do more damage with. And someone who can interact with the crowd like no other is Jimmy Jacobs. Why should I watch Kevin Steen when I can watch Jimmy Jacobs? Try again.
Guest JebusNassedar Report post Posted August 30, 2005 Alright, so, technically, no one's said shit to me about why I should watch Kevin Steen, or like Kevin Steen. Until I get a definitive, and logical answer, I will name wrestlers that fit the arguements presented before, which are that they have talent (of what kind, I'm not sure, as every wrestler needs some kind of talent just to make a paycheck) and crowd interaction "like no other." I'm not trying to be an ass, but I seriously want to see what the big deal about Kevin Steen is, so I'm starting it here. Day 1: Delirious Talent: Aside from athletecism, he has a unique moveset without getting too farfetched. Like Kevin Steen, he has one move that's pretty silly and only works with guys his size or lighter (Chemical Imbalance to Steenalizer) but has another finisher for other people that stands out as being unique and particularly ugly (Shadows Over Hell to Package Piledriver). Crowd Interaction: Everything about him, from body language to the "BAH"s, grunts, and random sentances add to the insanity you'd expect from a guy named Delirious. His moveset also fits in this same kind of dysfunction, and everything works together to set the image of him as a masked mystery who is positively out of his mind. No one interacts with a crowd like Delirious.
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2005 Josh Prohibition and M-Dogg 20- two guys who could be a good addition to the tag team ranks I don't see this one happening given that Josh and M-Dogg got themselves heat by signing with XPW during their attempted takeover of the Philly market. I believe CZW eventually let M-Dogg back in, and haven't heard anything on Prohibition lately. He (or both) may have done PWG, but I can't be quoted on that. This week's Observer states that they are looking to revamp the lower/midcard talent in ROH, and they're looking at new faces to bring in to freshen up the ranks. Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2005 I could see Josh getting in because he was young and XPW gave him a shot, so he took it. I don't see why people hold grudges against wrestlers that took a paying job if they needed a break (with the exception of Justice Pain, since he DID fuck CZW over by leaving for XPW). King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 I know he's a busy guy, what with wrestling a whole bunch of places and training too, but ideally they should bring in Chris Hero. Put him in the Pure Wrestling Division, build him up to a match with Joe somewhere down the line. Hell, stick him with Claudio in the tag division even. Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 1) Gabe hates Hero. 2) Hero hates Gabe. Theirs some legit heat between the two. Dunno from what though.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 The only Delirious match i saw is a tag match he had with Alex Shelly and before the match this random clip was shown of a guy blowing a 450 splash and landing on his head. The annoucners didn't even mention the clip. Is that the back story of Delirious? Was he the 450 botcher and thats why he is out of his freakin mind?
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 I don't really want Hero in ROH, I like that ROH doesnt automatically have every single big name indie guy coming in. Same goes for Super Dragon. That said, I'm not at all impressed by Steen or Vordell Walker, so new guys to take their spots would be fine by me.

Isn't he supposed to be a result of stem cell research or something goofy like that? I think it's that Gabe didn't think Hero was that good, and Hero doesn't like that. Can't see why Gabe thinks that, but he's entitled to his opinion I guess. Then again, Gabe probably saw something in guys like Dan Maff and BJ Whitmer that I honestly never would or could. Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2005 This is entirely unrelated, but I ordered DVDs from the ROH sale on the 31st, and I just now received them. Even though their office is only an hour or two away, getting them in three days is very impressive.
