so Tomko becomes a huge anti-hero/lone wolf to the fans....and they decide to turn him heel with Angle after hammering home multiple times his reasons why he wouldn't join with Angle...

this is idiotic

Having read these results I am confused by the exact stips of the 6 man street fight with the Dudleys. I know that the Machine Guns and Machismo won but what I don't get is this: Is Lethal once again the actual X champ or is this another "He took the belt" bullshit angle? Further, how does this stip with the Dudleys actually work? As in how long do they have to lose all this weight before they get fired? In addition, didn't Devine got royally screwed in this entire scenario? If his team lost then I guess he lost the belt. If his team won then his belt would be disbanded! What is his incentive to even show up for the PPV? He's fucked either way. Even further, why do the MCMG even give a shit about the X Division? They can't just go after Styles and Tomko for the tag belts?

Why did Tomko take out Christian in the first place? He saved him on Thursday and even shook his hand, but three days later he turns on him?

The usual TNA PPV, with the wrestlers working hard to put on a good show, and the bookers seemingly trying their best to make the wrestlers job as difficult as possible.

A slight change for the better for the TNA tapings tomorrow

The planned Juan Pablo Montoya vs. Reed Sorenson match of NASCAR drivers for tomorrow's taping and Thursday's Impact is off.

Instead, Sorenson will manage Chris Sabin, while Montoya will manage Homicide, in a three-way with Jimmy Rave. Hermie Sadler and Jimmy Spencer will commentate.

Also, the World X Cup is coming back according to a kayfabed interview with Jim Cornette on the TNA site.

I was confused before the PPV, but yeah, since the MCMG's and Lethal won (Lethal pinned Devine) Lethal is the new champ, and the Dudleyz cannot wrestle in TNA til they get below 275. There is no set time to make weight.

The rumoured TNA Knockouts spin-off show is nothing but an idea at present and will not be happening anytime soon. TNA is wary of over-exposing the women they have and ruining a good thing by having to water it down with extra workers and TV time.

Vince Russo is currently scripting about 90% of Impact, with Dutch Mantel's contributions being mainly the women's segments.

Haha, the funny thing about that is I hear all the time how good the Knockouts stuff is in TNA and that is Mantel's booking. Meanwhile Russo is booking the other 90% of the show that gets trashed.

Anyway, I wondered about the X title in that match and exactly what was going on with it. What I don't get is why didn't Devine object to any of this? He was in a position where winning the match meant losing his belt since it would be abandoned. But if his side lost, then he lost the belt anyway.

WTF???

The answer to that is probably just that Devine is a lackey who hasn't had a voice of his own or any apparent self interest or goals since the feud started (and really, in his entire tenure in TNA). He only had the title thanks the Dudleyz and only retained it on Thursday thanks to them. Him bucking the Dudz once he had the belt in order to not risk it might have been an interesting story but ultimately he's been nothing but a tool for them through this whole thing. He stayed silent and did what they said in the beginning and he stayed silent and did what they said in the end. And the Dudleyz intention was to destroy the X Division, not hold control of the belt.

Not having any idea what Devine's motivation kinda has the dual result of making it impossible to know why he'd be ok with the match and easy to presume an answer. For all we know he shared the Dudleyz basic desire to see the X Division destroyed so the title didn't mean anything to him. He is after all the "X Division traitor" who allied with them for the stated purpose of destroying the division. Reality is that if the Dudleyz had won the X Division would have been ended apparently and the title would have meant nothing anyway. He could have simply been to scared to rebel against Team 3D. He could just be a moron.

Like I said, I think it might have been interesting to give Devine a little character and have him buck the Dudleyz once he got the belt. Having him show basic self interest and reveal that he never really did want to see the X Division destroyed but just wanted to use the Dudleyz to ride a little higher would have given him some character. As it is Devine's leaving this feud pretty much as faceless and low on the card as where he entered. But ultimately it also probably would have just been a minor detour as the end of the feud was clearly Lethal and the Guns saving the X Division and going over the Dudleyz, Lethal walking away champ. So all it probably would have meant would be turning a 6 man into a tag team or handicap match or having the Dudleyz spend a couple of weeks bullying Devine into cooperating.

See, I could buy Devine being the jobber lackey if they hadn't put the belt on him. Putting the belt on him was a mistake...Lethal should have just had the title going in, or maybe they could have stayed with the "Team 3D holds the belt hostage" storyline. Sure, Devine would be fine with being a lackey since he was such a jobber in the X Division anyway that he had no upward mobility. But now he HAS the belt that he would have never won otherwise, so why would he want to see it rendered meaningless?

There was probably an interesting storyline in this somewhere, and had the title not already been on the line it might have paid off with Devine turning on the Dudleys in order to save his own belt.

Oh, I agree about putting the belt on Devine. It seemed like just a means to an end. Tear down Lethal so that he could have this moment. So not only didn't he have his title but he wasn't champ. But it did seem kind of unnecessary when they could have just had Lethal win the match the same way they did and reclaim the title and get the Dudleyz the hell out of the way. Giving Devine the belt seems like a relatively pointless move that was clearly temporary. The only thing that surprised me was that I didn't realize the belt was on the line until last night and I was expected Lethal to win the title back tonight with the Dudleyz barred from ringside or something. But Devine never had an credibility and I think he's the only of the 6 wrestlers to not get anything out of this feud. He did his job taking bumps and basically being the Dudleyz' X Division surrogate but he probably never needed the title. Especially when every win he's gotten has been thanks to the Dudleyz when he was already out cold and Homicide had him beat for the belt on Thursday.

On the other hand a 2 week title reign doesn't make much of a difference to me and while I do agree that there might have been a couple of interesting story directions to Devine wanting to protect his title I'm fine with the way it played out and just presuming Devine's a nothing lackey who doesn't have the will of his own to do what we're saying works well enough for me. But of course I'm coming at it from the perspective of someone who mostly enjoys TNA and did like most of this feud.

Now are you asking this because you don't know why storyline wise or are you complaining about the booking?

Tomko's sudden shift is frustrating. I only recently started watching wrestling again and have only been watching TNA in the last few months so the horrible booking people were talking about hadn't hit me yet.

But Tomko alone, standing for himself was fucking GOLD to me. I was a fan, even kinda marked for Tomko during those couple weeks. Now he joins Kurt but only if Kurt doesn't treat him like his bitch?

That's a total philosophical 180 for no apparent reason. AWAY from what seemed, y'know, interesting. : (

I suspect that the thought process for Jay Lethal losing the belt was to cast doubt upon the ability of he and the MCMGs to win the PPV match. Unfortunately, it didn't have quite the effect of Bret Hart losing to Owen before winning the title.

So, I guess this is an appropriate place to ask this:

Is Angle a dick in real life? Or does he just always stay in character when he's out in the media? I keep reading interviews and stuff and he comes off as a jerk.

The 275lb limit - so, if Bubba has to make weight, does Abyss? Does Joe? Kong just scrapes under, I think. Hoyt needs to drop a few pounds I think. Nash definitely does. You tell me how you can have the MCMG+BMJL win enforcing a 275lb weight limit and then have Nash wrestle on Impact, and the 350lb monster Abyss still wandering around.

The Tomko thing - Christian told Tomko to take his shot. He never specified a time frame, IIRC. Tomko could have just decided to do it when it would actually have some impact.

I thought the weight limit was supposed to be a smack at the growing midriffs of 3D and to make them look foolish. I didn't get the idea that it was a general requirement. And there could be a height/weight deal going on with Tomko and Abyss...

On Tomko, I think they're still keeping him as a Lone Wolf tweener...if he sides with Christian, he becomes a face. What he needs to do now is when Angle comes to thank him and welcome him to the Angle Alliance, he needs to kick Angle in the face...and maybe kiss Karen for the heck of it. That would really bring home the new character they've set up. If he becomes an Angle flunky, then the whole idea is down the crapper. No surprise from TNA, unfortunately.

I thought it was that the Dudleys had to wrestle at 275 or under against the lightweights that they are feuding with? I am pretty sure if they fought two guys that's generally accepted to be heavyweights, the weight limit wouldn't apply.

I'm not sure if its a Dudleyz rule or an X Division rule. Curry and Sharkboy are both X wrestlers so it could have been either. But it should affect Abyss unless he decided he wants the X Title. But I'm kinda under the impression that its ONLY a rule for the Dudleyz and not the division. The two of them agreed to it so now they're stuck.

It was clearly stated several times that Team 3D can't wrestle if they weight over 275. The limit applies only to them. I don't get why people are confused about this.

I can only assume it's because Brother Ray pointed to Curry Man to get on the scales on Impact before he was weighed.

People don't listen, that and if you have to take in the fact that a lot of people don't watch TNA on a regular basis or may just read the spoilers and don't catch on to the small things like that.

From wrestlingobserver.com's latest batch of feedback:

IMPACT

I was shocked to find to Spike replaced TNA Impact finally. I went to watch TNA last night and was stunned to see HUSTLE had taken its time slot. Although their American show looks a lot like Impact in fact. It even has all their stars. Hopefully now we can all finally see that Kurt & Karen Angle vs. Yinling Sama & Monster Bono dream match.

Or, after lest nights show, will it be Karen & AJ Styles-Angle?

Phillip Howell

Got a chuckle out of that.

I would watch G4 on a reglious basis again if G4 showed Hustle. So what was the deal with Spike showing Hustle and not TNA?
